Owner description: Nightwind is a full service day sail and snorkel excursion, sailing to St John and other small islands suitable for young and old alike. Our niche is private sails for families and groups up to 15 guests. We offer open sails as well for those wishing to meet and sail with new friends. We sail and snorkel at two different locations during our full day sail. Our offerings include continental breakfast, snacks, lunch, dessert and an open bar (something for everyone).Nightwind sails from Sapphire Marina on the East End of St. Thomas close to Red Hook. Captain Rick and First Mate Wes offer top notch personalized service from the moment you step onto the deck of Nightwind. Booking is simple and easy you may book online or for a more person touch you can call and speak with Cathy to confirm your sail on Nightwind.

I recently returned from a sail on the Yacht Nightwind. This is a full day sail which runs from 9am to 3:30/4pm.
The day started with a 9am boarding where owners Rick and Cathy and crew member Kim had breakfast set up (pineapple, cinnamon rolls and other breads) and your choice of beverage (alcoholic or nonalcoholic).
We then set sail across Pillsbury Sound from St. Thomas to St. John. The specific snorkel spots depend on the days conditions. For example we went to look at one spot and Rick thought the visibility would not be very clear so we went over to Christmas Cove for our first spot instead. We snorkeled for about an hour before getting back on board for lunch.

Lunch consisted of chicken drumsticks, pasta salad, deviled eggs, pickles and banana bread.
After lunch we went to our second snorkel spot of Little St. James. The second spot had a stronger current and we didn't spend as much time there. I saw more variety of fish at the first location but did see some squid at the second stop.

After our second stop they served chocolate cake for a snack and then we had a leisurely sail back to St. Thomas (Sapphire Beach marina).

I enjoyed the trip and would do it again if I choose to do an all day snorkel trip from St. Thomas. They also have T Shirts available for purchase for $15. We only had 10 people on our trip and the boat didn't feel crowded at all.
Cathy, Rick and Kim all did a good job of making everyone feel welcome and were all available for anything you might want or need during the trip.

Thank Miramar

This was our second time sailing on the Nightwind! We were two families with young children. Captain Rick and Cathy were wonderful with the kids! We hit three great snorkel stops and saw many fish, sting rays, sea turtles and colorful coral. It was once again the highlight of our stay in St. Thomas!

Our group of 11 sailed on the Nightwind March 27th. Adults and teenagers alike had an awesome time. Rick and Cathy are consummate hosts and made sure our excursion was extraordinary. From the incredible beauty experienced at our secluded stops to the delectable food and drink - it made for a perfect, memorable time.

We sailed with Captain Rick and Nicki recently and it was by far the best day of our entire week. My husband and I along with two good friends booked our day trip as a shore excursion while visiting St. Thomas. This was our first stop on our cruise. We certainly started off the trip right! From the very beginning, we were treated like family onboard their yacht.

The winds were fairly breezy the day we sailed and so we were able to experience the real aspects of sailing. The vessel skated along while leaning drastically. Much fun!!!

Everything was as advertised. Don't miss out on this great experience!
