“Fun Time.”

Wonderful stay (as usual). Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. Food at the restaurants was great. And a shout out to our room maid, Veonie. She is the greatest. Thanks, Veonie. We did miss Mitch, the artist, however. He must have been on vacation in Pennsylvania. Again, everything was as expected. We have been here previously and will be returning. March is a good time to go. Book six months in advance for great rates.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the resort are the best.

We stayed at Morning Star, in a large, airy room with a large patio. All rooms are right at the beach. The breakfast buffet at the main hotel was a very good value. Staff is uniformly friendly, and hyper-attentive to resolving any problems. The food and beverage is generally good, with the sole exception of "Coco Joes" by the beach, which failed to deliver value. As other reviewers have noted, the airport is a long haul away, and traffic is always thick in town. Build in at least a half hour when you go back.

Room Tip: Go with Morning Star if available.

Thank you for recommending Morning Star Beach Resort and the breakfast buffet at Aqua Terra. I am pleased you found our staff “hyper-attentive” and responsive. We hope to see you again in the near future!

This is the second year in a row that my boyfriend have returned to the island of St. Thomas and back to Frenchman's Reef. Last year we stayed up by the main part of the hotel, this year we were at the Morning Star part.

Let me start off by saying, you are in the islands, so that means you are on island time. Yes, when we arrived there was a line, and we waited for 10 minutes are so. But that is because the staff is so friendly when they are checking you in, they take their time with the guest they have in front of them. Our room was not ready when we tried to check in, so they gave us a "beeper" and it buzzed when we were ready. Our room was down by the Morning Star part of the resort and it was AWESOME. Our room had it's own ice machine, which was awesome for making our own drinks.

We were a quick walk from the beach, which was great. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to the restaurant staff was fantastic. We will DEFINITELY be back.

There is also a shack at the end of the beach that lets you rent rafts for the ocean. We did that the last day and I wish we would have know about it the whole time.

But... we will be back next year, so we will take advantage then.

We used Marriott points for our stay here, which was a great value. We stayed at the hotel and had a wonderful corner room with views of Charlotte Amalie and the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The pools are great with plenty of seating and the beach at the Morning Star Resort next door is lovely-private and very convenient. The hotel is the closest large hotel to downtown and has several restaurants and a great lounge overlooking the harbor. The Concierge was terrific. We were given several recommendations for restaurants in town and each one was delightful. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, overlooking the harbor or Caribbean.Corner rooms are lovely.

We chose to spend our final night at this hotel after a week in the BVIs, and regretted our decision as soon as we arrived. The hotel is a quite isolated location, and it is a serious taxi ride to get back into town, so you are trapped there without a car. Our room was small, with a very low ceiling, and was absolutely the farthest room on the site. The walkways and grounds were poorly maintained, and litter was evident in many places. The pool terrace and bar were lovely, and a nice place to spend the afternoon, but when we tried dinner later that evening it was a nightmare. Wait staff at the bar area were distracted and largely indifferent to our situation. It took almost an hour to be served a salad and a flatbread pizza. The wine pour was ridiculously tiny as well, which just encapsulated the whole experience for us.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel, or else try to get a room on an upper floor.

In the Caribbean, for some reason, expectations should be lowered for hotels. Unfortunately, the price of hotel stays is not reflective of the outdated rooms and conditions of the hotels. The Marriott Morning Star resort is no exception. It is great that it is on the beach, however the rooms are very dated.

Room Tip: Most rooms do not face the ocean and many face the service road that employees drive, so make sure y...

Thank you for your comments. For a more modern stay, choose Frenchman’s Reef on your next trip to St. Thomas. We recently updated many rooms, built an infinity pool and spa and remodeled our restaurants and lobby. We would love to have the opportunity to exceed your expectations of value in the Virgin Islands. Thank you again for your feedback.

We stayed at the Morning Star Beach Resort and it was fabulous! We had a room just steps away from the beach. The room was OK..a little dated. There was a small refrigerator in our room, so we could stock up on water, wine, snacks. I highly recommend staying here. The big hotel (part of the resort) was nice, but you have to walk a bit to get to the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful!

Thank you for the lovely photo of the sun peeking through the clouds beyond Coco Joe’s! We get some amazing sunsets here! I also would like to thank you for the compliments of our staff and the in-room amenities at Morning Star Beach Resort. We would like to add that the rooms also feature an ice machine for your convenience, in addition to the refrigerator. Our staff is always ready to help and we look forward to your return!
