If you are a history buff you will enjoy touring these great old places which are not only visually impressive but the stories behind them are also great.
I think the title of my review speaks for it's self. If you're already about the downtown Charlottle Amelia area then you could stop here for a photo, but I wouldn't spend any significant time here since it's not a place to visit like a museum would be. It was also a Sunday when I was here so I doubt anyway was around anyway.
If you want to see government/historical buildings, this is easily the best option on the island. The gold inlay and row of cannons makes it a must see
This nice looking building was originally built by the Danes in 1874 and severed as the Charlotte Amalie high school before it became home to the Virgin Islands Senate. Unfortunately, neither the building nor the grounds are open to the public so you need be satisfied with viewing from a distance. Located on the small bit of land jutting into the harbor south of Waterfront Hwy, also known as Veterans Hwy, on the eastern end of the historic district of Charlotte Amalie, it is where most walking tours of the historic district begin. If you are on a walking tour, the next stop, Fort Christian, is across the road.
Very nice and well taken care of.... close to downtown of Charlotte Amalie and the old Dutch Fort. Gorgeous view of the bay, and you can tour the building if you like. If you have a rental car, you can park in the lot right there.
Stopped by on a Sunday. Everything was closed. Took some very nice photos of the building and grounds. Also some great views of the harbor and surrounding area.
