Galleon House Bed & Breakfast
Reviewed 26 March 2014

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Galleon House B&B on our way to and from a sailing trip in the BVI. This place has so many wonderful things going for it! It's located right up the hill from downtown near great restaurants and the main shopping area while still remaining quiet at night while you gaze out from your room across the city and/or harbor, or while sitting next to their pool, which was very clean. We stayed in an efficiency room the first night and a one bedroom the second night and the last night on our way back. All three rooms were well sized for the price and very clean. Great water pressure/heat and ice cold AC in all three! We're a little bit of clean freaks and all three rooms we stayed in were perfect. The check in area is a cute little patio where you can sit and drink a beer or a rum punch (which was honestly one of the best we had on our entire trip), and a real sized FREE breakfast in the morning with coffee and juice. Plus, Gale is witty, funny and very informative and helpful with anything and everything you need. We will definitely stay there again when we're on St. Thomas. Also, after talking to several other people traveling on St. Thomas we had NO ISSUE WITH BEDBUGS unlike others. It's 100% worth those stairs you have to walk to get up there!

Room Tip: For the extra little bit of money compared to the efficiency room we'd recommend opting for a on...

My boyfriend and I live on St. Croix and stayed at the Galleon House last night in St. Thomas! Gail was the first friendly face we saw when we arrived. We got there a little before check in, so she offered us drinks while we soaked in the weather! Our room was comfortable with an amazing, big shower! It is the perfect place to stay if you want to stay somewhere safe downtown. Breakfast is included in the morning and it tasted AMAZING! I highly recommend staying here. It was just what we needed!

Room Tip: We got a room with no view/no window... Which actually turned out to be AWESOME because we could act...

After spending five nights on a catamaran charter, we had to stay overnight in St. Thomas to catch our flight the next day and we chose Galleon House because of it's central location and price. Chris, the Innkeeper, was very nice. He recommended a restaurant (Amalia Cafe) which was fantastic. The breakfast cooked by Tim was more than adequate. The best part about the Galleon House is its proximity to the shopping and eating area. The room we stayed in could use some updating, but it was more than adequate and the view from the terrace was quite nice. Good value for the price.

We just needed to spend 1 night in crazy, filthy St.Thomas and then catch ferry to beautiful St.John. So we thought we would book a cheap room being our flight was coming in late and we were leaving early the next day. Our bed had bugs and I think the bed support was stacked cardboard. Our room was a closet with a very used mattress. Spend more and avoid the bed bugs and horrible mattress. The owner recommended a restaurant called "The Tavern" I believe she gets a kick back from them. The food was below average, pricey and the service slow with only a few people in the place.

Room Tip: avoid all rooms

We stayed a night at this B&B while heading home from St. John. The Galleon is nicely located in the heart of the downtown district close to the harbor and walking distance to Yacht Haven. The views from the room are very nice, overlooking the harbor. While there are some steps down to shopping district or up to the B&B, it is not as bad as some previous reviewers implied. A little exercise never hurt anyone.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was nice and adequate. Many travelers there kept bags at the check in desk when arriving early or leaving late, without a problem, including ourselves.

The facilities could use some TLC. Our screen door had a broken screen. The bed could be a bit better. But the location is good, the price reasonable and that makes this a good stop for a night and explore Charlotte Amalie.

My wife and I were forced to stay in St. Thomas for a night when our flight got cancelled. We had stayed in a private villa all week in St. John, and a new friend who lives on St. Thomas recommended the Galleon. It is a nice clean place and the staff was very friendly. We had the room in the house with the best view or second best view and it was very comfy for the night.

My first stay at the Galleon House, great location for my needs. Clean and functional with a friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good and convenient. I was aware of the steps prior to my visit but I travel light and the challenge would not keep me away. I would stay again if I needed good access to the downtown area.
