The Mafolie Hotel and Restaurant was perfect for our 1st trip to St Thomas! The view is awesome and it was very quiet and relaxing. The restaurant was good. The view was great but a bit overpriced but you'll find out quickly that everything seems to be that way vs the states. We definitely go back it is a beautiful and quiet place to relax.

We stayed with the folks at the Mafolie from March 3 through March 10 and it was amazing. The staff are incredible and attend to every need. They make you feel like family. From Miss Ella at breakfast to Chad, Paul, Steve, Aaron, Duncan, and Jen in the restaurant, the office, and the bar.
We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. This was our fourth time staying at the Mafolie and we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.
Thanks guys.
The Morris family!

Dear Morris Family,
In a boutique hotel like ours it is not uncommon for the staff to really get to know the guests. . When guests truly enjoy themselves and their experience (like your family did) it validates all the hard work these guys and gals put in every day. I will speak for Miss Ella, Steve, Aaron, Duncan, Jen and the entire Mafolie family to say Thank You. Bon Voyage and until we meet again.

okay, here's the deal, the view from this hotel is absolutely stunning. The view from this hotel's pool is absolutely stunning. The view from this hotel's restaurant is absolutely stunning. That's where the stunning and. The rooms are old and dated, the air conditioners are pre set to 73 degrees. And the maid services about is average as it gets. If the rooms were better this would be a five star hotel.

Loved this place! The view was incredible and the food and drinks were so good! The restaurant was the best we had on the island. The only down side is that you aren't on the beach. Taxi's are readily available and were always there within 3 minutes. The beach is about ten minutes away so it's not a big deal. The view and the food make it totally worth it.

I ended up having to stay over the weekend for a Monday meeting in St. Thomas and made a last minute search for a hotel in Charlotte Amalie. Fortunately, I found the Mafolie Hotel. It is a bit of a throw back to a by-gone era where great service and wonderful ambiance were combined and offered effortlessly, as opposed to the contrived feeling that you get from a modern resort property. Mafolie is a real home for the owners and the staff, some of whom even gather for the evening at the bar after their work day because there just is no better place to hang out and chill in Charlotte Amalie. The Mafolie advertises an "Incomparable View" and they are right. From virtually every vantage point the view is of the Caribbean from the height of the hilltop surrounding Charlotte Amalie. The sea sweeps away from you, islands and boats dotting the harbor like candles in the night. In the day, the view remains extraordinary, but the trade winds blow gently and I found no need to even turn on the air conditioning thus saving the owners money because electricity is costly in St. Thomas. The atmosphere at the bar is a perfect blend of relaxed people from all over chatting amiably. The food is excellent and many of the patrons of the restaurant come from the Frenchman's Reef Marriott just to get a great meal.

This hotel is not for everyone. It clings to the hillside and those with issues walking may find that the steps to get to the pool (also a gem, by the way) or the restaurant are a bit of a challenge. For those wanting resort activities, this is not that sort of place. No beach volleyball or tour director. This is a true family owned and operated Caribbean Hotel. But for anyone who appreciates the sort of atmosphere that might easily have attracted Hemingway if he ever visited St. Thomas (I need to research that one) or Jimmy Buffett who definitely reports that he often hung out at the Mafolie Bar when he visited St. Thomas in his youth - this is your hang out. When in St. Thomas do not miss it.

Room Tip: All of the rooms seem to face the sea. Those with issues walking may want to request a room on the same level as the restaurant.
