Villa Santana

We (a group of 4 plus 2 kids) booked at the last minute and arrived in the evening. Louisa generously offered to take us to the Mall where there was a supermarket and shopping for essentials. We were in town for just 2 days for a convention. Both villas were clean and spacious and affordable. The full kitchenette was essential as we were travelling with 4 year olds. Although the hotel was almost full it was very quiet, we used the pool early in the morning and had it to ourselves. Overall it was the most pleasant stay I've had in St. Thomas for a family and I do travel there quite a bit.

First I have to apologize to Louisa, the owner, as I promised this review weeks ago! My wife and I stayed here for a week in the beginning of July, 2014 and can echo many of the positive reviews we read that led us to chose the property. We stayed in La Cucina, the villa's old kitchen...we prepared all of our breakfasts in our room and at on the patio overlooking the pool each morning with the other family staying at the Villa. We made great use of the grill as well. Louisa is a gem...she took the other family and us to the nearest supermarket the minute we arrived and arranged with the security guard to ensure we had a trip back via taxi. She was around almost every morning and evening to share in our story telling but also to provide advice on things to do. The walk down to main street was effortless and, after a few nights, we decided we could take the road/stairs back up if it wasn't too late as the route was extremely well lit. From the bay front road you had access to the premiere downtown shopping as well as ferry's to St. John (when it was running, and throughout our trip it was not!) and BVI. The walk to French Town was fairly simple but ensure it's not Sunday night when most of the restaurants are closed so you have more than two options!

The rooms were cleaned when we asked as it was the start of the off season and stocked with all of the necessity's (to include some coffee) that you needed to get started on your USVI adventure. Pool was wonderful especially to dip in after walking up the hill.

At the end of the trip, after many attempts to get a cab to the airport, Louisa took it upon herself to drive us....service you just wouldn't get from a larger corporate hotel.

We had a great first visit to STT and are looking forward to our return!

Villa Santana is an European style guest house, so don't expect all the bells and whistles of a resort....but you have an incredible view of the harbor, including both cruise ship ports, a kitchen and patio deck with grill, a nice pool, and interesting long-time local owner. We had a great visit with a group of friends/family....were together, but each family had our own space. Sad that it's not really safe to make the short walk to downtown, but still a good location if you have a car.

Room Tip: Some rooms are two stories...if you have mobility issues, chose a one story villa.

Me and my kids and friends stayed for there for carnival 2014 and it was very nice. you can here the music which was nice. You can walk down to Main Street and all the other festivities they had but I don't recommend walking back up if your out of shape like we was. Management was also a big help and friendly . Overall it was very nice.

Our 1st time in USVI. Used Villa Santana as our base to explore St. Thomas. It was a pleasure to meet Louisa. We stayed in La Terraza for 6 days. Had breakfast on our private balcony each morning. Used the grill & had dinner on the open deck above the pool one night. Louisa was always available to address any questions or needs. The view of harbor & town is exceptional. We wondered who was staying on the Mega Yacht, Attessa IV, (with it's own helicopter on deck) anchored in the harbor...Johnny Depp? Oprah? The town itself was at times lively but the noise level wasn't bad & didn't bother us. The roosters in town crowed all night one night & usually start around 4am. That's for anywhere in town you stay. If it bothers you...bring earplugs. No roosters near Villa Santana though. Would stay there again!

Room Tip: La Terraza...no spiral staircase/steps down to entry. Several suites w/o steps. Several suites w/s...

We had 4 guests staying at the La Terraza. The room was clean and comfortable, it has a large kitchen, they supplied enough towels for us. It also has a small balcony with partial water views. The whole property is ran by Luisa, who is very nice. The property needs a facelift but its perfect for the rate. Property has a lot of potential. Location and views are amazing. Taxi ride down the hill to most place is $10.00 but you can walk it down. Pool area is nice, it has a bar and a bbq grill. Landscaping and grounds need TLC.

We stayed in La Torre during our visit in USVI. After reading all the reviews I chose La Torre anyway for its stunning view, and I still believe I made the right choice. The price range of the villa is reasonable and worth every penny of it. Pls be cautious the staircase is inappropriate for some people, but the view is worth all the efforts. The location of the villa is close to the downtown and convenient to go around.

Louisa might be the nicest person I ever met in my life who is extremely helpful. The first day when we arrive we realized we might need some groceries, but it was kinda late and dark out there, Louisa offered a ride to us and recommend some restaurants.

Louisa is so informative and knows the town so well. She gave us some amazing advice for our visit, and generously lent us the snorkeling stuff. On the day we left, unfortunately our flight got cancelled and we booked another airline in a hurry, Louisa drove us to the airport so that we could catch the flight.

We experienced some noises as mentioned in previous reviews, especially the loud music and some partiers, be sure to bring your earplug if you are like me, sensitive to sound and intolerant to any kind of noise. My husband had no problem with that at all. I didn't find the roosters were too bothering, but they do start early.

Definitely will come back to stay there again!
