With only staying one night on St. Thomas we booked the Green Iguana based on price, location and it’s not a chain. We didn’t want frills; just a safe, comfortable place to rest our heads before embarking to the BVI’s the following morning.

Location. Close to the airport – perhaps 10 minutes and I believe it was an $8.00 per person taxi ride. We were also a short stroll (down the 99 steps) where there were several restaurants/bars to choose from. We choose the Big Kahuna (average but decent food, great price and convenient after a day of travel). The following morning we had a shorter taxi ride/rate to the ferry terminal.

The room we chose was a little small - but clean with all the conveniences to make your stay enjoyable: refrigerator, microwave, iron, safe, hairdryer, coffee maker, etc. John and Gwen have a few basic items to purchase when checking in so of course we took advantage of a couple nice cold beers at grocery store prices. Nice touch. Balcony was outstanding – large with beautiful view of Charlotte Amalie. Felt very secure in and around the property.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Gwen and John were an 11. From the first inquiry, to the booking process, to check-in, all communication could not have been better, friendlier or more efficient.

As long as the rates remain competitive we will definitely stay here again as it exceeded our expectations.

Our cheeks are red (blushing) and we are humbled beyond words! Thank you so much for your generous compliments! When we were first time Guests at The Green Iguana Hotel in June 2001, we felt as if we were staying in Mike and Linda's home! The managers between us and them were equally accommodating! Friendly, Helpful, and Available to help you enjoy your adventure. Kudos to the ownership for employing only the best managers! Thank you again and again!

In February, we stayed @ the Green Iguana and we so totally surprised with all the amenities. The location was perfect for shopping, only drawback was we had to return from town via taxi, which was not a real problem as Gwen was able to give us our own personal service (Willy's Taxi Service). The hotel is located on a hill overlooking the beautiful ocean. The rooms were very clean & also we felt very secure there. We had dinner @ Blackbeard's one night & it was very costly, but the view is breathtaking. John & Gwen were very accommodating & @ times chilled with us.
I would highly recommend this hideaway.

We are so happy you had such successful shopping in Charlotte Amalie you needed a taxi to get you back up the hill! And we are happy we could help you choose a driver, readily available to be your choice of transportation around the island! You and your group were fun to chat with! Thanks for letting us be a part of your adventure!

We stayed here one night. The husband and wifewho manage the property, John and Gwen, could not have been more helpful and pleasant. They were delightful and we appreciated their showing us how to spot iguanas in the trees on the property. The room with the covered porch and private bathroom also was beautiful and had good air-conditioning. This is a wonderful place for bird watching. The location is very convenient if you want to stroll around St. Thomas, as it is close to the 99 Steps. Gwen provided discount coupons for taking a tour of Blackbeard's Castle and the historic buildings on the grounds of the resort, which is right next door. The tour was interesting and we would recommend it.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us! Guest Rooms H1 and H2 both have the covered balcony to relax on after a day of traveling, shopping, or whatever you enjoy doing on St. Thomas! Of course all 9 of our Guest Rooms have private bathrooms (yes there ARE some hotels that still have shared facilities but not us!) and good air conditioning. In many of our rooms you can open the windows and enjoy the fresh Caribbean breezes as well. From the bananaquits to the turtles, little lizards and larger iguanas, there is always something going on the gardens! Spotting Iguanas is easy! Just look for movement of the leaves! Chances are there is an Iguana there. We are fortunate to have such a great relationship with the property next door. They do afford our Guests a discount to take the historical self-guided walking tour of the museums in the Historic District of Charlotte Amalie. We are happy you were able to take advantage of their hospitality as well as ours!

Good spot to stay en route to else where or to stay and explore St. Thomas from. We did the former. Only one night but great walking distance or quick cab down the hill to shops and restaurants. Close to ferry's not far from airport. Large rooms. Good amenities. Friendly folks. A nice option for regular folks who don't need or want glitz and pools and same old big hotels with no local flavor. Nothing fancy, all good. Felt safe. Open view.

Room Tip: I think it was H3? Or H4? One double. Couch and table. Nice spacious room.

We have 3 rooms large enough for traveling families, I believe you were in H4 with 2 queen beds and the spacious sitting area with a wall of windows to look out to the Town just below us and the Harbor. I still love to see the seaplanes coming in and out of the harbor! Many of our Guests enjoy the convenience of The Green Iguana Hotel's location, close to the airport, the inter-island ferry port and the safari route too! Thank you very much for staying with us! We will be looking forward to greeting you again on your next Caribbean Adventure!

This hotel is a little dated but very quaint. Located on the side of a mountain ( I think it would be considered a mountain) it had units at all different levels. We were really lucky to be in the highest location with phenomenal views. The rooms were spotless! The proprietors were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If climbing stairs is not an issue, ask for a room at the highest level.

We agree the rooms on the top floor have the best view! And it's just a one floor walk up to get to the highest level! Both rooms on that floor are slated for a makeover this summer and we hope you will be back to let us know what you think once we are finished. We like the work "quaint" when describing The Green Iguana Hotel! "Boutique Hotel" is another way to describe the hotel to others. Thank you for your candid comments! We hope to see you again soon!
