This is our third visit to the Green Iguana. Stayed one night again as we left a charter sailboat. Rooms have always been ready. The breezeway to the hotel is locked with a security code and that makes us feel safe and allows us to leave our luggage in the breezeway after checking out and we are walking around before our flight out.

The staff is very helpful. The grounds are nicely planted and the staff promised they will get better. Its nice to sit in the open middle area in the morning and evening. Rooms are clean and all the appliances, TV worked.

Its a good laid back place to stay.

The island's best kept secret! Tucked away under the arm of Blackbeard's Castle, close to town, ample parking, quiet, great gardens, complete with iguanas.

We spent two overnights at the Green Iguana on our way to the BVI. The hotel is small (9 rooms) but clean and well laid out. We were able to put 2 adults and our 3 children in a room with air mattresses without issue. The new managers were very friendly and helpful. It is a fun 99 step walk down to the water front for shopping and dinner. I would recommend this hotel for short stays for there is no pool or things to do for the kids. They did however see the large Iguana on the property.

Stayed one night coming over from BVI. This is a great little funky hotel. It is run by Sue and Bill who could not be more helpful. You better be in shape as those 99 steps to town are killer on the way up. However you can take a cab back for $5.00. The rooms were clean, comfortable and secure. There is actually a walking tour as you head down to town. You can tour Blackbeards Castle and the rum factory (free samples). There is no pool but you can use the one at Blackbeards for a small fee.

We stayed at the Green Iguana for 2 nights as a means to extend our vacation from 5 days to 7 days. We were pleasantly surprised when we showed up and were led to our room. I didn't have to check in or do anything, Sue met us at the entrance and walked us straight to our room and that was that. We were very happy with the overall cleanliness and look of the room. There was a slight ant problem in the bathroom but they leave bug spray under the sink so I just sprayed around the cracks the ants were getting through and that pretty much solved the problem. It wasn't major enough to make me feel the place was dirty, I figured it was just part of being in the location they were in. The view from our room was nice, part of it was of the town and the other was of the water/island. My only issue was with the house keeping, the women came by my room around 10am to ask if we needed anything and we said no, not at the moment and I guess to her this meant we didn't need the room changed over. We figured when we left she would have came back and did the routine change over but when we returned to our room that evening nothing was changed. Same garbage was in the cans, bed wasn't made and towels weren't replaced. Not a huge deal since we were only staying 2 nights but if you stay make sure to clarify you would like your room made up if the lady comes at an inconvenient time.

We loved this place. Yes, it's away from town, but it's quiet except the occasional rooster. The owners are wonderful and very helpful, even took us into town. We are in our 50's and the 99+ stairs were a wonderful workout and fun to check out. The view of the bay from our room was breath taking. It's great for everyone who just wants a quiet charming place to stay. Blackbeard's Castle is right next door. The only problem would be if someone had a severe handicap, but it would still be do able.
Four couples in all stayed there, and then three stayed again this January before another sailing charter. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others. We all loved it.

I stayed at the Green Iguana for several days when first coming to St. Thomas as was looking for an apartment to rent. Great place to come back to after a day running around looking at apartment and doing errands and having a hectic time. This place felt like a sanctuary – restful, quiet. The view was great to wake up to before starting back out in the world. I had read that the 99 steps and the walk from downtown were difficult. I found it quick and easy. Plus I met several local people (and some tourists) getting their daily exercise or just coming home from work. I never felt unsafe as there were always friendly people around. I enjoyed talking to Sue, ½ of the management team of the Green Iguana, was great to talk with. I felt that I was among friends and appreciated her job encouragement.
