I spent ten days at The Green Iguana Hotel on a trip in March 2005, requiring me to work in the Enid Baa library downtown - walking distance from the hotel, albeit that the 99 steps sometimes felt like 999 when I had to walk back up at the end of the day.
The number one attribute of this hotel is the friendliness and helpful attitude of the managers Mike and Linda Ratcliff. They took me with them to the beach the first day I arrived, took me grocery shopping, advised on restaurants and safety at night, picked me up downtown once when I got stuck with too heavy a load to walk back up (taxis only wanted to take tourists back to the ships at that hour), and made me feel at ease while travelling alone.
The hotel room was large, clean, and comfortable and the view over Charlote Amalia was lovely every morning when I sat on my balcony having breakfast.
I wish Mike had told me that I could have had access to the pool at Blackbeard's next door (he forgot) because I would have enjoyed a dip to cool off at the end of my long days.
This is not a fancy place, but the price was right and it was absolutely perfect for my purposes. I am delighted that The Green Iguana was recommended to me.
