“Amazing Old Fashion Quality”
Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

What I loved most about St Thomas was my stay at Crystal Palace with Ron and a few guests. The views from the balcony are worth a million dollars, and Ronnie is a great host who opens up his home to so many strangers but makes them feel part of the house. Had a great time eating down in the French Town with you Ronnie, hope to see you again one day!

Staying with Ronnie Lockhart at the Crystal Palace is like having a home away from home in St. Thomas. It is comfortable, historic, conveniently located, relaxed, and we love feeling like natives when we are here. Ronnie knows everything there is to know about St. Thomas and if he doesn't he knows where to find out. Simply the best.

My wife and I had a great time! Ronnie was a great host, the rooms were gorgeous (the stuff of those pictures you see int he galleries), and the atmosphere was laid back. Free wifi, directions, reviews of
Local restaurants and amusements were spot on. Treated like family. Can't choose a better place to stay!

Ronnie is the owner of the Crystal Palace and took very good care of us. We had no reservations coming on to the island, and not only did he have some rooms available, he helped us find rooms nearby when he didn't have availability at a nearby B&B.

He picked us up from the airport and gave us his own mini-tour from the airport to his B&B. A continental breakfast was included, and I usually enjoyed it while enjoying the ocean and port-front view in the mornings.

The room was large, with two beds put together to be a larger bed. We were on the bottom floor and used the shared bath, which was in decent condition. The A/C worked as well as the fan, and it was nice to have both options.

The Crystal Palace is one of those places that just has a lot of history -- you can tell by the pictures and the way it is decorated. We had a great time staying there.

Ronnie made our 3 days at the Palace most enjoyable. He picked us up at the airport, drove us to one of his favorite restaurants and returned us to the airport when we checked out. We opted for a room with a private bath and were very pleased with everything, including the toiletries. It was unseasonably warm, so we didn't use much hot water but the air conditioner was in use a lot. From the balcony off the main hall, much of the town and harbor is within view. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and watching the sea planes come and go; the lights come on at night; listening to music from a distant night club waft up the hill. Breakfast was simple and adequate; beverages plentiful. We definitely want to return.

Room Tip: There are at least a few stairs to climb regardless of room. When we went downstairs to leave the ho...

Stopping in STT on way to sailing the Caribbean and words can not express how much I LOVE this place! Thank you Ronnie, once again... and Yes,,, I Will be back! A+++ but now I'm still here and soaking up all of the wonderfulness that IS The Crystal Palace.

p.s. Ronnie makes his best effort to pick you up from the airport to the C. P. as a kindness. Keep in mind he has a truck and if it rains your luggage is in the uncovered back. (you can always pay for a cab!)

We spent one night on our way back Stateside having sailed for a weekend in the waters off the BVI's. the Crystal Palace was only a few minutes drive from the ferry building, clean, affordable, quite with magnificent views and incredible hospitality by Ronnie the 5th generation owner of this magnificent colonial 6 bedroom home. Ronnie picked us up from the ferry, took us back to the airport and in between shared his unlimited knowledge of the house, surrounding area and the island. Highly recommended if you want to get away from "plastic laced" chain hotels.

P.S. ask Ronnie to show you the tortoises.........

Room Tip: Request the "Daddan" room if available on the main level. Comes complete with a four poste...
