“Beautiful and Relaxing”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

I really should have written a review on Bellavista sooner. We visited the Bellavista in August 2008. The owner, Wendy, was very helpful from the time we inquired about reservations until we checked out. She provided a few tips on travel/arrival and once we were there she provided all kinds of suggestions on restaurants and attractions that help make our vacation memorable.
We stayed in the Bambooshay room--it has a/c and a beautiful view overlooking Charlotte Amalie, clean, and well maintained. The living area is open air. The kitchen and dining area was where were enjoyed breakfast, prepared by none other than Miss Wendy herself. I couldn't help but take picures of the food--it was displayed so beautifully on our plates and tasted just as fantastic!
We look forward to a return trip to St Thomas and a future stay at Bellavista!

We've been blessed to stay at Bellavista on 3 occasions and it was Heavenly. Wendy makes your stay as unique and amazing as the views and food. We are proud to call her our friend and we can't wait to return to Bellavista, kick back and enjoy one of the few places on earth where nothing else matters except the moment.

Thank you Wendy! Sending you our love.
Lori and Deb

Room Tip: We have stayed in all of the guestrooms and they are all amazing.

We spent 3 days at the beginning of August at Bellavista B&B in the Bambooshay Room. Beautiful room, beautiful house (love the high ceilings, the balconies, gorgeous wood floors!) We ended a BVI sailing trip with a few nights relaxing at Bellavista - we didn't have a rental car and took a taxi a couple times but walked into Charlotte Amalie the rest of the time, and spent a lot of time reading at the pool. Fantastic view (we love to get up early and watch the cruise ships come into the harbor). The downside to those amazing views are the steep roads & stairs to get to the B&B - no problem for us (and the exercise helped us work off the wonderful breakfasts!) but if you are limited in your mobility, you'll need a vehicle (rental or taxi) for access. The mini fridge in our room was wonderful - we kept wine & cheese and had afternoon/sunset snacks on our balcony or by the pool.

We are writing this review after our 7-day stay at the Bellavista on St. Thomas USVI - the #1 B&B anywhere!  Do not pay any attention to the #2 ranking because we are absolutely certain it can not be topped by the supposed #1 (while we have read that it is very nice.)

There is nothing Wendy and Doug won't do to insure that all of their guests have the most unbelievable stay possible.  Wendy makes all guests feel like they are the only ones staying at Bellavista.  I think if she thought standing on her head would contribute in any way to making our stay more enjoyable she would have done it in a heartbeat.  Bellavista was by far way above any experience we've had at some very nice B&B's in the US.  One recent reviewer claims it is ranked at the top of his/her list of B&B's in the world!

Wendy and Doug have created a slice of Paradise at their B&B.  All of the previously written reviews are spot on.  Their knowledge of the Islands and helpful suggestions were greatly appreciated.

Wendy doesn't just prepare the most fantastic breakfast you've ever eaten, she creates works of art.  Many of her guests bring their cameras to breakfast to photograph her designs.  I doubt there are too many B&B's that would put on their ovens in 85 degree weather to make homemade granola; but there's Wendy with a smile on her face -which, by the way, is always there- happily tending to the granola!

As for the house, grounds, and view: they are why picture postcards were created.  The landscaping and pool are immaculate and constantly attended to by Doug.

This is a lifetime experience not to be missed!

Wendy S, Owner at Bellavista Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review, 19 July 2013
Guests often echo this remark about our TripAdvisor ranking, and so I feel it is important to point out that rankings are based not only on the quality of reviews but also quantity. Some properties, restaurants, and activity operators actively solicit reviews to improve their ranking which is acceptable and even promoted by TripAdvisor. However, that is simply not our style at Bellavista B&B. We prefer to send guests home with wonderful vacation memories not obligations or assignments. All of our reviews are "organic"! They are written by guests who were inspired to share their experience. And while we are very grateful for them, it's not our focus and it's not what drives us to go above and beyond with the service and amenities we offer. We simply aspire to create a memorable vacation experience--and we sincerely love doing it!

We stayed in the Coquille Collage room from May 13th to 16th at the end of our 12 day trip of the islands and had a fabulous time. Wendy was such a gracious host and really made you feel at home. Her breakfasts are amazing! The frappes, fresh fruit, little muffins and hot dishes were all delicious and a nice way to start off the day. If you’re a food lover like me, be sure to pick up one of her cookbooks. Even though we had to leave early in the morning to catch our flight, Wendy set out granola, yogurt and coffee for us which was a really nice touch!

What can you say about the property other than its absolutely breathtaking! Both Wendy and Doug keep it pristine. The pool was a great way to cool off and relax. It was also nice to just sit on the deck and listen to the birds chirping while taking in the view and the surrounding garden. It’s close enough that we were able to walk to and from Charlotte Amalie, but you will have a pretty steep hill to contend with. Let’s just say we got our exercise in each day!

We really enjoyed our stay and when we return in the future, we will definitely stay at Bellavista once again.

This was our second stay at the Bellavista. We LOVE this place! We stayed here six years ago on our honeymoon! It was like staying with family. When you stay here you will be completely spoiled by the experience and quickly learn no other b and b can compare. Wendy takes such care to focus on all of the details. She is kind, generous, and passionate about her business. She artfully prepares breakfast each and every morning. It's stunning!

Wendy and Doug are so helpful and friendly always offering to guide you in the right direction as to where to beach, dine, adventure, etc. They always make sure you're off to a great start each day and when you come home they're there to greet you too! Every night she makes sure to turn down your covers and flowers are placed on the pillows! Details!!!

Their place is sooooooooo clean and cared for. Doug and Mocha (the dog) are always watering the gorgeous plants and Wendy is forever cleaning and straightening.

The views from the deck are breathtaking. You can walk to town (in the daytime only), but must taxi back at night. From here you must take a taxi to the beaches as they aren't within walking distance. But, it is totally worth it to stay away from the beaches and experience this gem! Visit a different beach each day like we did. Eat in Frenchtown! Explore and experience St. Thomas!

At the Bellavista they really are like family! They care about you and want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Jeff and I were so sad to leave. It truly is like saying good-bye to old friends. You will no doubt have a fantastic time in St. Thomas if you stay at the Bellavista.

And, be sure to always use taxi driver, Kenroy! Wendy can give you his number. He is fantastic!

My husband and I stayed at Bellavista for 2 weeks in May and were very sad to leave. Wendy and Doug are so nice and welcoming of guests into their B&B and will do anything to make your stay and vacation relaxing, fun, adventurous, memorable.....you name it and they will make it happen! Wendy's breakfasts are awesome!!!! Mini muffins, frappes, and fresh fruit were my favorites each morning. The B&B is in a perfect location to walk to a main shopping/eating area during the day. If you want to venture further Wendy will call you a cab. We had a rental car to get around and it was very easy to park at the B&B. I definitely can't forget the beautiful view from the hill that Bellavista is located on....still looking at the pictures wishing I was back there. Each morning I really enjoyed sitting on the very comfy couches in the common area to drink coffee, listen to the birds and smell the yummy breakfast being cooked up. If you leave early in the morning Wendy will leave her delicious homemade granola for you. Also, we were divers and had all of our dive gear with us and were able to rinse our gear there before going back home. I can go on and on about Bellavista and how amazing it was...... Thank you Wendy, Doug, Mango and Mocha for making our vacation so memorable!!!!

Room Tip: We had the Bambooshay room and it was very spacious and had a great private balcony.
