As time share owners, we were delighted to find an opening on short notice at the Elysian. It is located in a beautiful bay with delicious restaurants just steps away.

The staff was always friendly and helpful. Eager to please and always with a smile.

My husband and I agree we would both visit this location again.

We had the best vacation ever! this resort was worth every dime it cost! the food and facilities were both excellant. We went on a sailboat diner cruise on the New Horizon to Christmas Cove , the trip was fantastic and the food and drinks were well worth the cost of the trip

we have been going to st thomas for many years, and have stayed, at one time or another, in every one of the resorts/condo rentals on the island. shopping through vrbo, this year we rented at the elysian with condo owners at eastendeden.com.

the hotel property is beautiful. the plantings are diverse and nicely manicured. the beach is not crowded, and great to swim. snorkeling along the rocks right off the beach was 5-star (calm waters, superb visibility, big fish, octopus, lobsters, etc.) a pretty (quiet) pool with a bar right off the beach was a nice diversion, too.

the condo was spacious, furnished beautifully, with two terraces and lots of light and air. new appliances, air conditioning, washer drier, king size bed in bedroom, 2 big TVs, murphy bed in living room and two full bathrooms was great for our 3-person family.

the two restaurants on premises (one casual, one up-scale) offered great choices and fine food. or it is a quick drive to the supermarket, the other east end restaurants, or the ferry to St Johns.

note - there is a lightly-used parking lot (for beach and restaurants) between the condo and the beach. it's there, but you don't even notice it since condo is on the 2d floor and the views of the hillside and the water are magnificent.

can't wait to go back next year.

Room Tip: about 30% of the condo/resort is owned by Windham Vacation Club. And some of the units at Elysian ar...

This resort is very difficult to find. If you are using a GPS beaware that there are two roads in the area with the same name. The Elysian is on the same road and just a few 100 yards before the Ritz Carlton. The turn off is just east of Red Hook; go out of Red Hook on 38 past the high school there will be a yellow/green Organic Veg. stand on the right and a water treatment plant on the left. Turn left at the road just past this point and go up the hill. Take this road for about a mile & half, the Elysian will be on your right. Other than the numbered main roads there aren't any street signs.
Unless you are planning on staying your entire visit at the Elysian you'll need a rental car as you will go broke paying for taxi's. A round trip to Red Hook will cost $10/person. Renting a car will give you the excitement of driving on very narrow, curvy roads. The roads have no shoulders, so walking on them is very dangerous.
Our room was at the very top, 76 stair steps from the beach level. They will run you up & down in a golf cart if you don't want to try the stairs. Our grat view came at the cost of climbing the stairs. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner at Carbbean Seafood. The beach is a great place to relax & swim, shade if desired, small waves, warm water. Plenty of chairs and loungers. Our unit was hotel style, nice patio, two beds, a small table to eat at, a kitchen with coffee pot, toaster, refridgerator, microwave-convection oven combo. We slept with the patio door open so we were awaken a couple of mornings to the sound of the landscapers blowers as the cleaned the walkways and stairs.
There are plenty of good dining options between the resort and Red Hook. The food center for grocery shopping is only a few miles away. Food items are about 25% to 30% higher than we pay at home. Forget beef as it is out of sight price wise. of course locally produced rum is cheap.
We went scuba diving with Red Hook Scuba, which I would highly recommend.

Pros:
Nice room: air conditioner, nice balcony, tv/dvd, dishwashing soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, Plenty of towels, small table to eat meals in your room and chairs on the balcony as well. Great beach with plenty of palm trees for shade and beach towels are provided.
Amazing restaurant (Caribbean Fish Market-get the tuna)
Join the "beach party" on Sundays at 11am or Mondays at 5pm for free drinks, appetizers and the low-down on different day trips.

Cons:
The internet (wifi) was down about 50% of the week we were down there (available only from the lobby which is currently be renovated) and we had to continually tell them it was down. Apparently many patrons were making them aware of this as they were continually frustrated with the requests to restart it.
The hot tub was "luke warm" about every other night while we were there. After informing them the following night would always be the right temp (with some very high chlorine levels on 2 of the evenings…burning your eyes high) but then the temp would fall back down to luke warm the next night.
One of the staff members working the front desk (lady in her 50-60's) isn't very pleasant. She seemed annoyed with any question you asked upon arrival. The rest of the staff was pleasant and easy to talk to.

Tips:
If you don't plan to stay the entire week be sure to tell them upon check out b/c they only charge the $22 fee/night that you stay
Taxis pick you up by the lobby. Roughly $5-6 PER PERSON each way for anything in the Red Hook area. This applies even if there are other patrons in the vehicle going to different places (odd, I know). Expect $16 cab ride to/from the airport/per person (including your luggage) if you're sharing a cab. If you're going on your own without other people it will be $20/person. They only accept cash.
Request a room on the lower level close to the lobby (unless you really crave beach views from your room and don't mind hauling your luggage up more stairs) 1 week before arrival. Closer to the lobby means closer to everything (wifi, taxis, beach, pool/hot tub, 2 restaurants (Sangrias and Caribbean Fish Market).
Try talking your cab driver into stopping at the grocery store on your way from the airport. You'll save $12 minimum (per person) if you can shop quickly (5 minutes or less is free and a $1/minute thereafter)

I'm a proud owner of this time share and started coming to St thomas about 3yrs ago. My husband and I just got married on the resort this last Oct and the staff was very accommodating. I never have any complaints, The staff is friendly and I love the area. I highly recommend getting a rental car. The first time we had stayed at the Elysian we didn't get a rental car and was traveling by taxi to at least get to red hook which is where you can catch the safari trucks. We didn't want to chance walking down the hill since it was very narrow and no side walks.

I would also recommend getting a room with a kitchen. It will definitely save you some money as it's expensive to eat out there. For one of our checked bags we sent a bunch of non pershiable food items and bought the remainder on St Thomas.

We have been coming down to the Elysian for several years (8-9). We got in on Saturday early since we stayed two days downtown to get our shopping out of the way, our room was ready early and Vicky welcomed us back and that was great. Our room had an awesome view and we unpacked, and then Joseph got us down to the Food Center to get some food for the week. We went down later to meet up with some friends we have met before and started our vacation with drinks at Sangria's Beachside Bistro, by the way the Pizzas are tasty...Great beach, jacuzzi helps relax after long walks, we will be back...Steve n Penni
