“High-end comfy digs + beautiful surroundings + friendly and helpful service = great holiday for family of six”

We just returned from a week in one of the three-bedroom residences at the Ritz Carlton destination club. We stayed in the Kava Building in unit 3402 and could not have been happier.

For context, we have enjoyed previous stays in five star hotels (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton) in North America and Europe and have visited the Caribbean and Mexico a half dozen times before this visit. It is hard to be 100 percent happy with a resort in the Caribbean, but we were very happy there.

The condo is a spacious three-bedroom unit. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and there is also a powder room. The unit we were in had two master bedroom suites and a nice third bedroom. The en suite for the third bedroom is not as posh -- it has a shower-tub combo rather than the comfortable soaker tub and separate glass and marble shower like in the master suites. The bathrooms were stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, vanity pack, and toilet paper which were replenished daily. There is twice daily maid service. The condo was always nice and clean.

The condo is well equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, complete with an excellent blender for your beach drinks, a good coffee maker (filters provided), a microwave, dishwasher (dish soap an dishwasher detergent also provided), a fridge with a built in ice-maker, and pots and pans, etc. We wanted to make burgers and could not find a broiler pan. Made a call to guest reception and a few minutes later, a broiler pan arrived at the door. We brought a small supply of ziplock bags in all sizes, coffee, tea, olive oil and balsamic vinegar with us. In hindsight, we didn't need the food stuff, with the well-stocked Food Center five minutes from the resort (my husband brought home the same Starbucks ground French roast from the store that I had brought from home). But the Ziplocks were really useful (dry passports for our snorkel sail to BVI; impromptu hot water bottle; ice packs; etc.).

There was some laundry detergent provided to use with the washer/dryer.

The set up is terrific, with a nice beach, several pools and hot tubs, and well-landscaped grounds. We found the resort fairly compact, with beach, pools, restaurants fairly close at hand. There was also an elevator in the building. I think someone with minor mobility issues would do fine at this resort. Indeed we saw a few families with special needs children there, and on our last day I noticed an unobtrusive apparatus at the main pool that seemed to be designed to help people with mobility issues access the pool. I am not sure whether it was there the whole time -- I spent most of my time at the beach or the adult pool.

The only downside to the resort is the abusive cost of the dinners in the restaurants. We ate there twice, both times at Sails. The first dinner, for six, was $700, the second, their New Year's Eve buffet, set us back $1000. The food was fine, but not as good as those prices would lead you to expect. We had lunch a few times at the Cove and that was more reasonable. However, we set up our own bar and brought our frozen concoctions to the beach (pack your water bottles or coffee mugs if you want to do this, because they don't have them in the condo) and we like to cook together so we did that a few times.

“Excellent location”

Traveling with children an excellent location! Best service, people were very polite and seemed very happy to serve you from preparing your lounge chair on the beach or by the pool! The room service morning and evening is super.

Resort fee for unlimited use of any non motorized equipment was excellent for us? We did kayaks, hobie cat, paddle board, pedal boat and the four year old twins enjoyed them also as they paddle board with their mom and dad! Bay is so calm and very safe for little children! Pools by the club resort were heated! Having the pool, beach, jacuzzi and the beach grill in close proximity well planned!

We thoroughly enjoyed Chef Gregg's breakfast! He and his helpers were so accommodating with six of us and managed to have outside seating especially with 4 year old identical twins!

We will consider coming back!

“Ritz Carlton Residences St Thomas Amazing”
Reviewed 14 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed at the Ritz Residences in St Thomas last week. We travel alot and have stayed at many different resorts. We wanted a place which was more like a condo/house but with the amenities of a resort. With two teenagers and another family with small children the Ritz was perfect. The residences are a resort within a resort. The grounds where we stayed were even nicer than the the Ritz hotel grounds. Beautiful beach with plenty of chairs. Beach side service was always available. The condo had huge bedrooms and 3 balconies(3 bedroom). The staff was the friendliest of any island we've been to. We are already planning our next visit.
