“Don't Worry, Be Happy...Stay Here...”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

Bolongo Bay is a wonderful vacation destination, but only if you love amazing views, terrific food and drink, and Caribbean hospitality and entertainment. We went with the all-inclusive option and loved it. Everything, from the Lobster Grille 5-star restaurant to the sailing and snorkeling trips, was covered. And Iggie’s on the beach…you couldn’t top the live entertainment, especially Carnival night. Look up the menus online and dream about your choices during your stay, and don’t forget to work your way through the tropical drink menu.
I noticed a number of reviews where guests noted the rooms were a little tired and blah, blah, blah. Hey, if you go to an all-inclusive resort to hang around in your room, get a clue. The rooms were fine and the housekeeping excellent.
Getting around the island was as easy as using the front lobby taxi service. Fares are listed on a large display - $6 to go here, $8 to go there. On your return trip when you catch a taxi, make sure you ask the driver “How much?” You might be pleasantly surprised to find out the price went down a little bit.
Book the ‘Swim with the Turtles’ sailing trip and the Sunset Cruise. (They’re both included in the all-inclusive package.) Use of water toys is free, including your snorkel gear. There also are plenty of chairs and umbrellas on the beach for everyone as well as a few friendly iguanas that lumber by now and then.
Bolongo has that kind of down home feeling, which made us not only feel welcome, but like we belonged.
Don’t worry, be happy, and stay here.

Room Tip: We loved the second floor overlooking the bay. The sunrises were spectacular.

My wife and I had a great 7 days. Just came back home. The food is excellent, the service was some of the best we have had on the islands. The staff at Iggies Mike, Jess, and Joshua were outstanding. The water is a little rocky but the Justin Bieber look alike water crew supervisor made it lots of fun. The catamaran snorkel trips were excellent. We went to ST. Johns which has the best beaches in the world. We will be back, maybe for our 40th anniversary. Definitely worth the money. Now, they need to just update some of the facilities like the bathrooms. Not dirty just a little dated. Just do that and I am sure they would go up on trip advisor in their ratings. Great family run place with people who give great service. Thank you Laura Porter McMurry for your personality and help.

Room Tip: 2nd floor beach front great view.

Spent 7 clear and warm nights in AI Bolongo Bay resort, in second week in February. Food
was outstanding... lobster night, prime rib night and many top notch entrees. The bay is
protected, with some opportunity for snorkeling. AI reservation includes cat day trip to
better snorkeling and a cruise around Charlotte Amelie. Room was large and nicely
furnished. Because this is an older hotel, bathroom had older fixtures had some degrading
tile caulk. View of the water was partial. If there weren't so many other islands to try, would
probably go back.

We had a great experience at Bolongo. We had a 3rd story room with a beautiful view. The walls and doors are thin, so I can understand how the place may be loud during busy season. But we were there in January and had no issue with noise. The staff was wonderful. They always said hello, asked if we needed anything and genuinely took care to make sure we were having a great time. Laura, the boutique manager, was especially helpful. And Viola was a pleasure to chat with in the mornings.
I wasn't sure what to expect because the reviews were so different about this place. The place is not new, it is on a tropical island right on the beach and it is geared toward more of a relaxed party type place.
Bolongo has its own beach. It has a bit of a rocky entry, but it is fine. If you need to wear water shoes, but we didn't need them at all. There are lounge chairs and hammocks to enjoy. At dusk the sand fleas/flies come out, and yes, they suck! The resort does have bug spray near the pool for your use. It wouldn't hurt to bring your own and make sure it contains DEET. This is an issue of the entire island not just at Bolongo's beach.
There are 3 restaurants within walking distance, all 3 have bars, and all 3 had good food and great staff. Lobster Grille is the only place to get breakfast.
I would recommend Bolongo, but if you are looking for the Ritz then go stay at the Ritz.

Just got home from Bolongo Bay and I would recommend this resort to anyone of my family members or friends. There are two restaurants on site both of which have great food. The only down fall is the lobster grill the service is a little slow but we are on vacation so where do we have to go! The beach is amazing plently of things to do. Rooms are clean with great views. Would go back again for sure!

Room Tip: Go for the ocean view. It is well worth the extra money.

Our family visited the week of 2/10-14, and was very pleased and impressed with all services provided. The room was clean, comfortable and had a terrific view. Both restaurants provided wonderful food and service. The beach swimming and provisions were great- especially the lack of crowds. It was located close to Red Hook for visiting St. John, and close enough to visit the shopping in Charlotte Amalie. What a great taste of the local flavor of St.Thomas- being relaxed, layback, and a good home base for island hopping.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have better distant views.

Do it!!! From the taxi ride from the airport, to leaving the resort one week later, no worries, Mon!!! Landing at the airport at 10:30 at night we were a little worried that we wouldn't get there but the taxi drivers knew where to go. Great view from the room. You could literally open the window and lay in bed and hear the ocean. went in late jan. and the temps were perfect. We relaxed from day one to day seven. Make sure you get the seven daypackage to get the "Heavenly Days" catamaran we did six day so we had to pay extra for it , but it was worth it!!! We did the sunset tour cruise which was wonderful, we saw a rainbow , got rained on and then the clouds broke and the most beautiful sunset imaginable. Don't get a car they will take u anywhere for a few bucks. We only left once. Came to relax and do nothing. Lobster Grill is great if you like breakfast and casual dining. It was our favorite place. The staff was great! They were so great and make sure you have all you need. We opted for the all- inclusive just to cut down on the sticker shock. Rooms were fine. Always clean. No bugs, few sand fleas in the evening if you are on the beach at Iggies. I was having problems with my foot so we went to iggies only a few times. Iggies kinda drew a younger crowd but the music is live and its right on the beach and the painkillers keep coming!!! All in all it was great!!! I already want to go back. If your going to have fun, relax, and have a relaxed no worries kinda trip its great. if your really stuck up the Marriot is probably more for you.. Did I mention the staff is GREAT!!! Every one is so nice. If you want an excursion try koki beach for snorkeling and other extra niceties. Just DO IT!! Jerry , Tulsa

Room Tip: No elevator, so if on third floor , stairs, we were on 2nd floor . awesome view
