Me and my wife had a 5 night stay. We arrived for our honeymoon on the first night to find bugs crawling on the floor. The room was in horrible shape. The food was horrible! The staff was Great and the best part of the stay. The only reason I can give this hotel a 2 star rating is due to the staff and their help getting us out of the hotel.

Room Tip: Dont bother upgrading to beach view. There is no "real beach" the beach is about 5 feet and there was tons of sea weed when we were there.

I cannot say enough about the absolutely outstanding service that we received from the staff at Bolongo Bay! They are the main reason I would recommend this resort to others interested in visiting St Thomas!

The landscaping is absolutely stunning! The iguanas were entertaining! GORGEOUS view, even from our patio! Great food! We were so glad they ran dinner specials every night, so the people who are eating there for every meal during their trip have a lot of variety! (The spinach artichoke dip at Iggies was great, and the Mahi dinner special at the Lobster Grille was one of our favorite meals) The bartenders (ESPECIALLY the bartender in the afternoons at the swim up bar/ Lobster Grille) were amazing!!!!

We checked out snorkel gear almost every day and had a blast doing, but unfortunately, it had to be turned in by 4:30 every day. It just seemed like that really cut our days short in the snorkeling department.

Make sure you take the Catamaran out for snorkeling with the sea turtles. It is kind of expensive, but how often do you have that opportunity in life!? Do it while you can! The staff on the boat was the GREATEST!!!! They made our experience even better than we could have imagined! This was our favorite thing to do on the resort!

The only negatives about the resort are the rooms. The beds were comfortable, but our bathroom was not clean at all. The doors are also "slatted doors" (like shutters) that you are able to open and close the slats on. Well, the slats do not close all the way. There is about an inch wide gap between each slat, so you can hear ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING going on outside of your room, from the surrounding rooms, from the cleaning staff bright and early in the mornings, and from the beach/bar late at night. I thought it was kind of funny that they post a sign in your room asking you to conserve electricity, but all of the AC gets sucked right out of the gaps in the doors.

If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star resort, this might not be the place for you. It is a privately owned place, which we love! It might not be the "nicest" as far as the rooms go, and not being updated, but he service made up for it times a million!!! I am sure the main reason the service is so outstanding is because the owner of the resort is so involved!

Seriously, if the only downside to a resort is the rooms not being perfect, that makes for a pretty great trip! I would have liked a little more privacy in the room, but who goes on vacation to stay in the room the whole time?! This place was REALLY wonderful!

TIPS:
*Bring water shoes! This is a rocky beach.
*Bring Bug Spray and take it EVERYWHERE with you! It is $14 a bottle and you will definitely need it!
*BRING SUNSCREEN!!!!!! It is $14-$16 a bottle and you will FRY without it!
*Check when the cruise ships are coming in, ad make your daily plans according to that. It gets very crowded a lot of places when they port.
*Get to the airport AT LEAST 2 hours early! It takes a very long time to get through check in!
I*t cools down a lot at night, so make sure you bring a light jacket or pair of pants!
*If you do not have the all-inclusive package, you will probably want to eat and do things off of the resort. The food was priced VERY high (Our average dinner for two at The Lobster Grille was around $120-$140 with only %15 percent gratuity added)

*Our favorite thing to do outside of the resort was taking the fairy over to St John! It was $7 per person each way, and was worth every penny! The fairy leaves every hour on the hour and only takes 15 minutes to get there! The snorkeling was phenomenal there, as well as the scenery, it was not crowded, and it was a great change from being in crowded/ touristy St Thomas! Honeymoon Beach was to die for, as well as the hike to get to that particular beach!

*We went to Megans Bay one day. It is ranked one of the top ten beaches in the world! It was very pretty, but very crowded, costs $4 per person just to step foot on the beach, and the snorkeling is not good at all there! It would be a great place to go if you like to lay in the sand and read a book.

*We wasted too much of one day walking around down town. It was great to go and have the experience, but no matter what you hear from the locals, things are not cheaper at all there (besides not paying taxes). You can go shopping at home any time, so don't wast your time doing it here! The only shopping I would recommend is going to the diamond district if you are interested in that sort of thing. They have an entire street right outside of downtown that only has diamond/ jewelry stores! Very interesting to see.

ST THOMAS and ST JOHN ARE BEAUTIFUL, FUN, and UNIQUE places to go! We loved every minute of our time there!

Thank you to all of the locals that made our trip so special!

Room Tip: We went to and from the room so much, I would definitely recommend the ground level! It didn't look like there were any bad rooms though!

Great resort except the fact that I had someone with a key( a employee) try to break Into my room and the manager not caring to following up! Make sure you lock your items in the safe!! Catamaran was amazing and food was great, just be careful with your belongings and having the staff care what happens !!

was by far the best vacation we have had.the staff from the resort, lobster grillie, and iggies were great.the food was fantastic,I highly recommend the all inclusive trip to bolongo bay resort to anyone traveling to st thomas.the use of all the water activities like kayaks ,trikes, snorkel gear.the dive shop sets you up with great snorkel gear and advise.real professional people there. We saw 7 sea turtles and fish and stingrays in the bay. if i was to ask for anything different maybe a shuttle to and from the airport or for a tour around the island seeing as cabs run fairly high other than that a five star for my wife and i and we will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: we had an ocean view on the second floor and it was great.a constant ocean breeze and the sound of the waves were fantastic

Our stay at the Bolongo was great!! If your looking for a 4-5 star hotel this is not for you, but if you want a clean and peaceful spot this is the place. The staff was so friendly, we did not encounter one mishap. We had the perfect room -#126. I think it was the best room there!!! It was upstairs and in the middle and gave us a direct view of the ocean and we could see part of both restaurants and the Heavenly Days boat from it. It was a tropical paradise. The view was amazing. At night the temperature was great and we would leave the panels on the door open and we could hear the ocean waves all night making for a peaceful sleep. We had a balcony that was great for enjoying the perfect view. We were given plenty of coffee to make so we could sit out on the balcony and enjoy, The only thing I can say against this place (which I do not think there is any remedy,) was we had a problem with the sand knats that bothered us some nights, not every night but when they did come out they were annoying but we did not let them stop us from enjoying our stay. The carnival night at Iggy's was fun we did not eat but went to enjoy the show and we enjoyed the live music there. The food at both restaurants was good. The access to all the water toys was great and there was plenty of lounging chairs for everyone. The sunset sail on the Heavenly Days was a great way to end the evening and interact with a lot of the other guest. We attended a wedding here at Bolongo and it was beautiful. We would definitely like to return here!

Room Tip: Number 126 was great, the view was breath taking. All the upstairs rooms have balconies, the value rooms are closer to Iggy's but still give a good view but I would say the ocean view ones closer to the pool are the best.
