This is my favorite beach. Nice and long. Great sunshine all afternoon. Water is very calm and beautiful. Great places to snorkel along the side. Bring bug spray. Lots of sand flies as sun goes down. Stunning and romantic.

This was an awesome beach. It was delightfully un-crowded. We lounged, sun bathed, and snorkled. It's a nice long, white sand beach. A few of the other beaches we found on St. John were narrow, not this one. There is plenty of space between the water and the tree line. There are picnic tables and grills along the tree line. There's plenty of shade if you want it. We found good snorkeling off the rocks to the south end of the beach and there's a little beach just past the rocks. Although to get to it you would have to climb the rocks or swim to it. I would highly recommend this beach to everyone.

The view is unbeatable; sailboats dotted about and the hills of Tortola and Jost van Dyke in the distance. The sandy beach is long and offers a pleasant walk, and out in the bay, far from the rocks where you'd expect an octopus to shelter, there it was, obliging enough to allow my son to dive down for a closer look before it inked him.

How interesting that all the beaches on the north shore of St John have their own unique character. Francis Bay is just beautiful and different than the beaches that are nearby. Plenty of room to spread out and get some space for yourself. On the day we went it was a bit windy from the north so the water clarity was not perfect, but snorkeling was still very interesting. We saw turtles (both hawksbill and green) and we swam through a large school of jacks (I think). Snorkel out and to the right, although not a lot of reef there was plenty to see.

This beach is far enough away from the resorts that you can swim and snorkel without being overrun by too many people. There is enough beach area to make a picnic and sunbathing happen if you'd like. The snorkeling towards the right is very good with lots to see.
