“The best of the Carribean!”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

We stayed right across the street from this place and heard all good things! The exterior of the building doesn't do the interior justice. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a great ambiance for a date.

The food though-- I got the conch with a side of mac and cheese and other things.. I might go back to St John just to get this dish again. It was phenomenal and the portions are huge. The meat was so tender and whatever flavors they cook it with were just to die for. My boyfriend got the curried goat and it wasn't up my alley but he enjoyed it. We also got the chicken roti as an appetizer- amazing

Our server was Kim and I can't say enough good things about her! She made our experience worth while. De Coal Pot is a MUST TRY if you're on St. John

“West Indian Food...Something Different”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

This is a fairly new restaurant. Small, homey, beautiful bar, very friendly folks. We had the Conch and I loved it; nicely spiced, island flavors. The 3 sides made it a filling meal. We were on St. John for two weeks, and all our meals were forgettable except for this one and a lunch outdoors at Miss Lucy's. We appreciate local cooking, not something we can find anywhere else.

“Tasty and authentic”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

I was craving an authentic Caribbean meal and asked someone who lives on St John for a recommendation. They sent us to this place and we are so glad they did! The decor is cute and inviting, the food outstanding and Norma made us feel so welcomed! I think it's worth noting that roti for my chicken roti was hand made in their kitchen - not just a store bought tortilla we found at some other places. The balance of spices and flavors was delicious. No doubt we will be back on the next visit to St John!

“Spiced, aromatic and delicious”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Easily the best soups we’ve ever tasted. Goat Water one night, Chicken Soup the next. We had delicious goat curry and melt-in-the-mouth conch - spiced and fragrant. The essence of Caribbean cooking. Thank you Norma.

“Good food”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 via mobile

We has the ox tail and snapper. Food was extremely good if you are looking for something unique and different. Don't let the weird names of the entrees scare you as the ones we picked were really good. We were recommended by more the one couple to check it out and happy that we did.
