This was our third visit to Gallows and we still love it. We could not imagine staying anywhere else on the island. The only thing missing is a beach. Some of the best snorkeling on the island is right in front of your room, you are a very quick walk down the hill to town for restaurants and shopping, and you get the best view on the island. We always stay in the Loft Oceanview rooms and have had a different one each visit and they are all great. I need quiet when I sleep so would never get a Harbour view room and the loft's offer better views than the lower units. The store on the property is awesome. Need some wine, beer or a snack, take a one minute walk to the store and come right back to your room. They also make a pretty good latte, although the coffee that was in our room this time was soooo good. They leave you creamers and sugars in your room so you don't need to leave if you don't want to. The food at Ocean 362 I found to be just as good as ZoZo's. You have to make a reservation for a seat at the bar around 6pm for the sunset. I have done lots of research on other properties in St John's and for us, the convenience, luxury and view from Gallows outweighs our desire to have a beach in front of the hotel. We will definately be back soon! We miss you Gallows!

Gallows Point was awesome and without a doubt was better than we had expected. Room was beautiful and nicely furnished, of course the location was amazing. Anna at the front desk was very nice, helpful and very funny. What really stood out was how beautiful the grounds were and how close you are to everything, the location really is perfect. The unit and the pools definitely could've been cleaner, nothing atrocious but considering the fact that its a rather pricey hotel you do expect those things to be up to par. This was just a small thing and it didn't effect our trip really. We stayed in a harbor view room and there was noise at night from a bar down the street but it was no big deal and we all slept fine. Overall Gallows Point was perfect, we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Harbor view rooms are really not as bad as everyone makes them out to be-you can hear noise at night...

Gallows has a reputation and all I can say is that it lived up or down to its perception. I would not stay here again; staff not friendly, room dirty and sandy, very loud hearing ur neighbors or kids from hot tub, ac worked great, the little gift shop is useless. PS I wouldn't stay at Westin or caneel. Rent a house front Catered Too and enjoy the Island the best was and it's not I. A hotel, I spend less money of a four bedroom house with a pool for one night at Gallows; put your money to. Enter work. If you want a full service resort stay at the ritz.

After, traveling by plane, taxi, ferry, you would expect at least a pleasant welcome when finally arriving at your resort destination. Not, so at Gallows Point, not even a smile or hello. Our room was a little dirty, and way too hot to enjoy our balcony(we stayed in an upper ocean room) .In our room we could hear our neighbors whenever they were talking loud. Pool is too small. and not that clean. Breakfast is only sold in the gift shop and is limited to first come first serve basis for muffins and hard bagels, coffee is available at least, if you do not want to make it in your room. . Positive side is the beautiful grounds, Anna at the front desk (the only pleasant one) and short walk into town. Please note that the locals are not all friendly...it is as if they resent you for being there.Stay away from the Dolphin Market the cashiers try to charge you too much for their merchandise Example Two packs of strawberries and two packs of blueberries for $42.00. and a real unfriendly disposition. Bays are beautiful enjoyed cinnamon bay the most (with our teenage son) Morgans mango, banana deck, and beach bar favorite restaurants .

Gallows Point Resort is by far the best place to stay on the island and much better than Caneel Bay Resort. It is walkable from Mongoose Junction, a small shopping center, the ferry dock, and center of town. Also Ocean 362 is just above the gallows point lobby. They serve island specials such as Mahi Mahi and Duck Confit. The rooms were very clean when we arrived and the staff are very nice. Room cleaning is available throughout your stay as well as beach chairs, towels, and a washer and dryer on the property. Most of the island is a Natural Park filled with geckos, mongoose, donkeys, and even deer. While driving on the island (I would suggest renting a car. It is very inexpensive and the taxis can be pricy, but make sure it's a jeep because the roads are steep and you drive on the left side!) you may see some small stone structures on the side of the road. These are ancient ruins which you can see more of at The Cinnamon Bay Plantation off of Route 10 or the Annaberg Sugar Mill Plantion(better than Cinnamon Bay). The resort does have a pool, jacuzzi, tanning deck, and hammocks looking over the ocean. Going to the pool at night was the best because of the beautiful lights on St. Thomas that we could see. There is also a convenience/gift shop/activity booth at the resort where you can buy anything from breakfast food, drinks, snacks, snorkel gear or jewelry. Some restaurant suggestions here would be the Waterfront Bistro, Ocean 362, the Banana Deck, The Terrace, and Cruz Bay Landing is great for breakfast. The weather forecast may say rain on your phone for every day, but don't worry. There is usually a daily shower that lasts sometimes less than one minute! Overall this is an amazing place to stay with breath taking views!

Just returned from a week at Gallows Point Resort. We went to Gallows Point based on reviews. While we were not unhappy with GP, we had expected so much more. We had booked a unit on the ocean side (the quiet side). This was not quiet since the noise from the restaurant and bar on the premises was sometimes very loud. Our unit was very close to the reception and restaurant building so I would avoid units 3, 4, 5 & 6 if we return. The grounds are beautiful and many guest took advantage of the great snorkeling opportunity. The pool area was very nice. However, there were families with children using the pool which meant that relaxing in or around the pool was not going to happen. Coffee , sugar and non dairy creamers are supplied throughout your stay. There is a gallon of water in the frig when you arrive. When this is gone, you have to purchase more water since the tap water has a rather unpleasant taste. For the price of this resort, we thought that having to purchase water was rather petty. The small store on the premises is nicely stocked but we found that things were much more expensive there than the prices in town - especially wine. Some of the clerks at the reception desk are very pleasant and very helpful - especially Anna who was great and very warm. The others responded very grudgingly to any question. We were mostly disappointed with the unit where we stayed (4a). The furnishings were very tired. Several cupboard doors were loose. The bed was very uncomfortable especially the pillows which were so old and worn out that 2 pillows were stuffed into one case - so hard and lumpy. I would expect a mattress and pillows like this at a bargain motel. Very unhappy with this. Did not sleep well at all. We loved the bathroom - the shower was awesome and the products were very nice. There was maid service every day and the unit was spotless. If we were to return to GP we would opt for the harbor side rather than the ocean side since the ocean side is very hot in the afternoon, with the western sun making it too hot to enjoy the patio. The breeze almost always seemed to come from the harbor side. The location of GP is great - an easy walk into town. Would we return? Probably not since we found the value for the price to be lacking.

We LOVE this place! Great service, great location, great rooms, perfect view, beautiful grounds...I could go on and on. You can snorkel right from the property, walk to every restaurant and shop and then stumble home.
