“Location is EXCELLENT”
Reviewed 17 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

I think you need to know EXACTLY what this is before you stay here. That entails knowing what it is NOT - first.

It is NOT a chain. It is not a bed and breakfast, although it does have that appeal. And it is NOT a full service hotel (e.g. you cannot call for room service or have someone bring your car around).

Now that we know what it is NOT ...

It is very quaint. We stated in the suite (there is apparently a loft and an apartment and a studio). And there is one location that is off premises about five minutes away in Chocolate Hole. I advise staying here, as you are close enough to walk to Mongoose Junction as well as the Plaza in South Cruz Bay. The supermarket is across the street and easy access. There is a grille, and Donald will not mind if you use it - simply ask.

Now, if you have a car, there is a Jeep rental place as well as a Physical Therapy business that share this property area. Parking will be okay on the weekend (PT not around) but harder with that (PT) and the Jeep business in full swing. We parked there on the weekend we arrived and moved our car down by the tennis courts (a 200 meter walk) during the weekdays. In fact, we did not use our car one day, as we stayed local.

No elevator and the location is on the third floor. Steps are narrow, but this is part of the quaint atmosphere.

Each room has different amenities (e.g. half kitchen, kitchenette, full kitchen, small microwave, etc) so please inquire as to what you are reserving.

Very close to the ferry. A little loud on softball game nights (right next to that) and an Episcopal church down the street has one service at 9AM sunday - expect church bills ringing!

I will stay here again, the next time I am travelling to St John.

“Great deal!”

It's a very clean eclectically furnished room with a small kitchenette. The location is perfect, right next to Dolphin Market if you don't mind a short uphill walk from the ferry dock. No breakfast provided here, but you can certainly make your own in the kitchenette or just go next door to get it. The owners are nice, not overwhelming with their presence at all. I would come back for sure- great place for a great price! The only improvement I could wish for is a more consistent Wi-Fi, so I can check my emails quickly and get back to my vacation: )

Management Response
19 Apr 2014
Greetings, We are glad you enjoyed your stay! The bakery, Baked in the Sun next door is favorite of our guests. Unfortunately, one of the trade offs for island living (& visiting) is sometimes spotty wi-fi. We are at the mercy of two providers and they are at the mercy of difficult geography & a harsh, salty corrosive environment so internet service is not always what people are accustomed to on the mainland. We do have a 2nd network at the other end of the building in our Studio from the 2nd ISP which guests can come use when needed. Thank you!
