“Gatehouse Suites”
Reviewed 1 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

These units have beautiful views and have all the amenities you need! Located close to the beaches of the North Shore, they are also just off the North Shore Road so you can either rent a car or grab one of the many taxis that goes by. I would definitely return to this property!

“Rude owner! Everything is fine until it's not. Not responsible for anything that goes wrong.”
Reviewed 3 April 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Our hot tub broke the first night and had dirty water. Tommy the care taker was kind enough to come the next day to fix. It failed again only this time the power surge fried my computer too. There were cockroaches in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen but worst of all... After the hot tub failing multiple times we were told they would extend us a late check out the next day. I asked specifically what time a late check out meant, Tommy looked up and saw there were no guest coming in and joked it was fine as long as we were out by 11PM, as that happened once. We told them we had a new rental the next day and could not check in until after 2:30 PM. We got back to the home at 2:00 PM to pack up to find $1000s of dollars of fine cloths shoved in trash bags, all our electronics shoved in paper bags, milk spilled all over of things. They said they had a last minute rental and needed to get our stuff out. We paid a lot more than the new guest and we were treated like trash. Locals informed us that the owner is known as a shark, rents 21 plus places and takes no responsibility for problems. His communications to us were rude and unapologetic. Our next rental was a thousand time more pleasant and the owner was warm and hospitable. Watch out!

Well, sometimes when you go out of your way to accommodate guests, the result is not what you expect. These guests could not check into their villa until 3 PM and requested a late checkout rather than the normal 10 AM checkout time. In the lodging industry a late checkout means noon or 1 PM, not late afternoon. Guests are instructed to pack everything up and leave their luggage in the entry way so housekeeping can prepare for the next arrival. Realizing our next guest would be landing in St. Thomas at 2:30, housekeeping arrived at 1:30 to find "thousands of dollars" of fine clothes and electronics strewn all over the bedroom, kitchen, living room and bath. Several attempts were made to reach the guests via their cellphone. With the clock ticking, housekeeping was instructed to place all their belongings in plastic garbage bags and boxes and leave inside the adjacent suite along with a note. Until this point, I had received just one email from the guest thanking me for having Tommy replace the GFI breaker on the hot tub and apologizing for calling him out the night they arrived and how lovely the accommodations were. Hot tub has not failed since then. Once they settled into their villa, demands were made that I replace her computer which she claimed was damaged although the modem, router, Sonos, TV, and all other appliances were untouched by this so-called power surge. When told that I could not reimburse her for her computer, she demanded that I reimburse her for the entire stay or she would take it up with Expedia and her credit card company. .After two months, neither have contacted me. Our company, Suite St. John has 200 plus reviews, all positive. We have "comped" guests on occasions when we were at fault or we felt our guests were "short-changed". This is not one of those occasions.

“Perfect Honeymoon!”
Reviewed 30 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

My husband and I stayed at Peter Bay for our honeymoon! The view and accommodations were perfect. Peter Bay is nestled perfectly between Cinnamon and Trunk Bay. We rented a jeep as recommended by Richard and it was the best idea!! We were able to explore the island on our own. Highly recommend this wonderful spot. We will definitely be back.

“Perfect place for two”

This is our fifth stay in Peter Bay guesthouse, and we can not imagine staying anywhere else. Breathtaking views and charming night sounds are unforgettable. Short drive to Cinnamon beach, where you can rent kayaks, windsurfing, sailing, and paddle board, or take lessons in windsurfing and sailing. About 15 minutes driving to Cruze Bay, where you may find a lot of good restaurants.

“The location and the view were unbelievable, close to all the beaches and you could see most of them from the deck”
Reviewed 18 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

On arrival, we knew we were in for a treat. No brochure can match seeing the real thing with your own eyes! The gatehouse is a gem nestled into the side of the best place to be on the island. The house is in the middle of all the north shore beaches and Cruz bay for lunch or dinner is a short drive as well. The amenities were a surprise, laundry, snorkel equipment, beach chairs and huge beach towels made it all luxurious. The deck and a drink at the end of the day, priceless. Also, go to see Karen for dinner at the Oasis in CORAL BAY, the best southern meets caribbean food ever. Can't wait to float in Francis Bay again with the stingrays!

Liked best: being in the middle of the north shore, everything was easy access
Liked least: the winter swells, three days of bad snorkelling, it happens in the winter.
