This place was recommended to us by one of the staff at Atlantis. they suggested all of he restaurants in Atlantis first of course but when we finally said we want some local fare off the resort this was his suggestion. We had something called souse (not sauce) but souse. Your choices are Sheep Tongue (we chickened out) chicken, fish and then they had conch stew. All of this was with something called Johnie Cake ( really dense bread almost like pound cake but heavier). This was what was offered for breakfast. they did have eggs, bacon, grits and potatoes. One of the guests in our group went traditional. One had chicken souse and i had conch stew. Conch stew was awesome, chicken souse was awesome. Kind of sounds weird for breakfast but man let me tell you, awesome. and the bill for 4 people was $27 Nice change of pace from Atlantis. If you decide to go Checkers has like 7 locations, we went to the one that is literally straight off the bridge from Atlantis. the place was very clean and the staff was also very nice. we asked the cab driver to wait for us and we paid him for his time to wait and he was happy to do so. i recommend this so you are not walking the streets of Nassau looking for fair. Nassau is generally safe anyways but you never know.
