“Make this part of your walking tour”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

My Grandson and I ventured off the cruise ship to go on a walking adventure. First we went to the Royal Bahamas Police Force Station on East Street to pose by its cannons. Then a quick stop at Mortimer's Candy shop for some sweet Bahamian treats. Full of sugar we then went to the fort. We enjoyed the view of the cruise ship from this vantage point and had fun posing by the cannons on display. We completed our journey by descending the nearby Queens Staircase. A relatively easy walk and a truly fun adventure. Be sure to make this one of your stops on your walking tour.

“Nice for the view & History”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

Fort Fincastle is nice if you're into history or would love a great view (360 of the area from the water to city). However it's so small and limited that we left in under five minutes. You're crowded with people and besides this beautiful structure that you see in photos, there is nothing to see. Keep in mind, you pay to get in and you ARE expected to "tip" your guide that gives you a history speech.

“Historic Sight”
Reviewed 6 April 2014 via mobile

If you have the slightest interest in history, you'll want to take the time to visit the fort. It is on the highest point of the island and has views of the coastline, water tower and city. The shape is also unique. It is a small fort compared to others I have seen worldwide, but still part of the islands history. It is worth the walk and the fee.

“Smaller Fort Close to Queen's Staircase”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

Fort Fincastle is a very small fort located at the top of the hill right next to the Water Tower and the Queen's Staircase. While Fort Fincastle is very small in comparison to some of the other forts in the Caribbean (including Fort Charlotte in Nassau), it was a neat little attraction to visit and it's proximity to the Queen's Staircase makes it a convenient stop. It only takes 15-20 minutes to see the entire fort and the neighboring Queen's Staircase, but for $1, it is well worth a stop.

“Worth $1 admission for the view”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

The fort itself, along with the water tower and Queen's staircase is not too big of a deal and a few blocks' walk from downtown but if you like walking it's worth a stop while exploring. The view of the city and harbor from the top is fabulous.
