“Great on a budget ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

Went here in November while on a cruise. A mile or so from port. Beautiful view of lighthouse and water is nice and clean. Several food and drink vendors at great prices. You can rent chairs and umbrellas also. Restrooms are maintained and clean, plus free wi fi.

“Easy walk to this beach from the ship”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2013

Considering this beach was so close to the port and industrial area, it's a good beach and free. I enjoyed my day in Nassau at Junkanoo Beach. If you are looking for an easy beach visit during your day off the ship, this effortless walk is short and convenient from port. The public beach is clean, with a bathroom and has small local drink and food shacks. I didn't want to rent a $15 lounge chair so a beach towel did just fine to sun bathe and enjoy the day.

“Nice way to spend the day.”

Cruise ship stop in Nassau. Walk to beach from dock.
Found beach to be clean and neat, bathroom and changing facilities ok. Rented chairs and bought food from one of several beach shacks. If you go: bring bag of ice from ship, stop and buy beer on walk to beach.

“Nice beach, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

We walked to this beach from the cruise ship port - it was nice to not have to pay for a taxi to take us somewhere. This beach feels pretty local. It's not the cleanest - as other reviewers mentioned, the sand is rougher, they also serve beverages in glass containers on the beach so there is risk of broken glass in the sand (although I never saw any).

The view is unbeatable with the lighthouse, the water was clear and calm, and the drinks were moderately priced. We paid $20 for two beach chairs for the afternoon, which was worthwhile to not have to sit in the sand.

“Very nice beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

This is a free beach, about 10 minute walk from the port. Great for the kids. Not very deep with mild waves. You can rent an umbrella and chairs for $10. Tender Coconut for $3. any beer for $3.
Make sure you go in and check out the price is all the vendors there. The first vendor that is on the beach is pricey. You can see your cruise ship from this beach, plus a great view of the ocean.
We had a great time there, lots of local food available.
