I have been to Nassau twice before and we left unimpressed- but we never ventured further than the straw market and downtown . Gotta expand your horizons- we followed the trip advisor instructions from my other learned travel friends and walked through the straw market from the cruise ship and grabbed the 10 bus that said Cable Beach.. Awesome loved seeing the city from a bus , careening around the curves Bahamas style for 1.25$ . I liked seeing parts of the city that I wouldn't have seen otherwise . We got off in front of the Melina Resort and walked to the beach area . It wasn't very busy so we grabbed a couple beach chairs and enjoyed .. Realizing that they may tell us there is a charge.. No one ever did. Enjoyed a couple drinks at the pool bar and the gorgeous water .. Lots of water sports available if you want. People snorkeling saw rays, lobster and fish ! Caught the bus on the way back in same place - he actually backed up to pick us up. The driver kept picking people up past the point we were sure he couldn't seat 1 more... A sweet teenager took the tourists -us - etc under her wing and told us how it works ... 4 in the back and the front , scoot over and lower the jump seats ! Her parents and the Bahamas tourism board should be proud. Finished up as another reviewer recommended and stopped at Sharkees for best ever conch fritters , cracked conch ( reminded me of calamari style conch ) and a couple local Sands Beers . I was telling my husband we could have fries or plantains and our waitress says you can have fries anytime!! She's right and the plantain and everything she recommended were great - awesome experience we have a whole new view of the Bahamas !
