Paradise Island Beach Club

Our experience here at the Paradise Island Beach Club wasn't what we really expected. The resort itself is amazing! The beach is beautiful and the weather is awesome, but the price of everything is outrageous!

When we first got here, our flight was delayed and we didn't get here until after dark. So, we took a taxi so we could get to our hotel and it cost us $30.00 just to get from Nassau to Paradise Island. For those of you who have not stayed in the Bahamas, Nassau to Paradise Island isn't that far. The next day we went to the Mini Mart located right in the resort, we picked up some food for lunch and breakfast and spent nearly $150.00 just on small items (for ex. orange juice, pop, lunch meat, etc.). Don't forget the $120.00 if you want to ride on the Ski-Doos for 1 hour and $65.00 for a half hour ride. The restaurants here aren't impressive and they are very expensive no matter where you go to eat, unless it's Quiznos Subs or Subway. Our first night, we went out to eat for supper and the meal was $62.00 for just two plates!

Oh, I can't forget to mention that they charge a 15% gratuity tax everywhere you go out to eat and at all of the places we went out to eat, they didn't deserve a 15% gratuity. The services at the restaurants are horrible!

In all, we would have to say that we will NEVER go back to the Bahamas again! We had read a review before going to the Bahamas and was told that this was better than Hawaii. We would much rather go back to Hawaii again than ever go back to the Bahamas. We would much rather have spent the extra money and went back to Hawaii or gone to Florida.

If you want a place with beautiful weather, beaches and somewhere you can actually go out and not spend an arm and a leg for everything, then I wouldn't suggest going to the Bahamas.

PIBC is a resort/timeshare not a hotel. So in that case, you do not have the service you would have staying in a hotel. Such as no restaurant on site, room service/maid was 1x a week (if you needed more bath towels it cost $5.00), a mini mart that carried some food; bread had mold, cost of food; outrageous! The rooms were ok. There is a full kitchen in each room/villa so you can cook if you want to save on $.
The resort needed some updates. PIBC is a bit run down; needs maintnance. There was reconsruction going on there but it wasn;t bothersome.
The most disturbing of our stay was the sewer smell- it was nauseating! Talked with some owners, they stated that the sewer was something new within the past year. There is a sewer plant next to the resort. Aparently, the "Atlantis" down the street owns most of the island and they own the launder and sewer plant next to PIBC. Depending on the wind direction the sewer smell is mostly there and can't be avoided.
You need a taxi to get places. You could walk too.
Everything is walking distance; but when you have children and it is too hot to walk you rather take a taxi.
Example; Cost about $3-6.00 to the "Atlantis" one way. up to 2-3 people, then charge additional. From the airport to PIBC cost about $28.00-30.00 US. The Bahamian currency is equiv. to the US$ . You have to go into town to a supermarket where I find most tourist or guest shop for food. You could eat at the Atlantis or at other resorts or hotels but they are very expensive, esp if you have kids. Example; a whole pizza $30.00

Our positive feedback would be that it was a small resort, quiet and the resort is located on beachfront property and beautiful! The 2 pools are nice. Our kids loved it! Overall, our vacation experience was nice but there were alot of inconviences. The sewer was the main problem.
Would I stay there again? No. Would I go back to Bahamas? Of course! It was nice and beautiful! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I prefer a hotel and more services. Someone else might like to stay at a resort/timeshare and not mind that there is no restaurant and roomservices isn't everyday....

P.S. Restaurants that I recommend to go to: Breakfast; News Cafe located at Hurricane Hole. Dinner; Anthony's Grill (great drinks!, great food) that is located at Hurricane Hole.
