My husband and I are not a fan of going out to eat all time. We were pleasantly surprised Sunrise Villa. Our one-room villa (114) had a full kitchen with living room/dinning room/kitchen combo and bedroom upstairs. Perfect for us. When our a/c died, we didn't say anything for two days. The staff was wonderful and said we should have said something sooner. They fixed it immediately. When we go back to the Bahamas, this is where we are staying again.

Room Tip: We went in the off-season so it is hard to tell. But 114 was perfect.

My wife and I stayed here for the first two nights of my 30th birthday trip before checking into The Cove at Atlantis. This was a great value as we had a two-story villa with a full kitchen and one and a half bathrooms, and it was located just a few minutes from the Atlantis and a short walk from the beach.

The room was outdated, but overall was clean. The staff were friendly, but service at Viola's restaurant was very slow. Also, there was karaoke on Friday night and a live band on Saturday night and both lasted until about 11:30 PM, so if you're trying to get to bed early, request a room farther away from the restaurant. We didn't mind that since we were up that late anyway.

If you are looking for a quiet and secluded stretch of beach to swim and lay out, turn right and walk about five minutes, past the Ocean Club. There are no chairs or umbrellas, but we had this part of the beach all to ourselves. This is also the best part of the beach for swimming with very soft and smooth sand.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Sunrise for the value and look forward to returning in the future.

Stayed in a beautiful apartment overlooking the pool. It was clean and had all the amenities needed for cooking, living and sleeping comfortably. The beach in front of the villas gets very crowded with cruise ship passengers but a 50 yard walk to the east gets you solitude if you want it. Would stay there again.

We stayed in a 2bedroom villa with our 2 teens. The villa was lovely, although dated. It was also extremely clean. Quite pricey, but we expected that for what was basically a 2 bedroom apt, complete with 2 baths, a full kitchen, dining room and living space. Our balcony had a view, but you basically had to look through the trees and you could see a small slice of the sea. The decor is dated, but clean. I really, really hated the mirrored walls--especially the one in the bedroom.

The grounds are lovely. There are 2 smallish pools that were empty when we were there. From one pool, you can still see the water so that was nice. The villas are only steps away from cabbage beach. Lovely. You can also easily walk to Atlantis. There is a liquor store and small food store within walking distance, too.

We ate the onsite open air bar/restaurant called Violas. Okay food and reasonable prices, considering the area. Keep in mind they add 20% gratuity to everything so this does affect service. Bartenders far surpass servers regarding service so you might consider eating at the bar.

The issues we had:

1) Carla offered to have a cab driver pick us up from airport because the cab drivers rip you off. We agreed. A driver got us and we ended up paying $40 when we should have paid around $20 or so. Carla tells us the guy ripped us off. She claims the person who was supposed to pick us up, outsourced to another guy who ripped us off. So just be aware of that.

2) The island lost power and we didn't have water(so no toilets or running water, obviously). I went to the front office to ask if they knew how long it would last, etc. They had no idea. I asked for water and they charged me for it. At this price point, they should have offered us water. It ended up being off for 4 hours or so.

3) Our air conditioning went out our last night. We moved to the villa next door. The maintenance people didn't even come out until the next day. I have no idea what they would have done if there hadn't been an empty villa. It was extremely hot and humid.

Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay, loved the location and Carla and Sharron were very helpful and kind.

The location is great. The rooms are really old and needs an immediate upgrade. Not much to do for kids if the weather is not great. This may be an ok place to stay if you are not traveling with kids. The service is great and the staff are very nice. There are better places to stay for the $$$s.

Sunrise went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of our first stay on the islands. The owners and staff feel like family...they really do care, can and will answer all your questions and help you find your way. The villa was very clean and updated with new furniture, beautiful decore, and all the amenities you could want or need...including freshly washed warm towels each day. Violas serves good food and is a convenient and reasonably priced place to eat, not to mention a lot of fun at night! Their pools are gorgeous, clean and peaceful, and it was so nice to have private access to the best beach on the island. It was perfect to be able to walk to Atlantis to the casino, yet not have to stay there among the massive crowds but come back "home" at night to Sunrise. We have found our place to stay in the Bahamas! Thank you, Sunrise, for the best vacation!

Due to an issue with our other travel plans, we ended up making an unplanned trip to the Bahamas and specifically these Villas.

Overall I would say the property is a great value and well worth the stay. The kitchen option is great for anyone who wants to save money or grows tired of eating out.

The villas are a short walk away from a very nice beach, although they are also next to the public area. Not terrible, but be ready for solicitation as soon as you are on the sand.

The bed was comfy, the appliances all worked well and they even did the dishes!

Would certainly return and do recommend.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the first pool, which was very convenient. However the noise on Friday/Sat nigh...
