The aquarium was very nice (comparable to National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD). But had we known the price beforehand, we probably wouldn't have made the trek. Beside the boat-taxi fare over ($6/way/person) it was $39/person JUST to have access to the facilities/aquarium (not the pools or beach) for the day. It was more than we expected, and definitely overpriced.

We went into this trip with lots of "reservations." Based on reviews posted here, we were concerned about the hotel itself, the cost of everything from drinks to internet access, and the attitude of the resort staff. Let me say, we had a blast, and our expectations were exceeded on most levels. The Beach Towers are showing their age, but our room itself was more than adequate, with two beds and a sleeper sofa. Ocean view was fabolous. It was great being close to the beach, plus having a wonderful pool (with waterfalls) that wasn't insanely crowded, and the Cave Grill just down the steps. Since we were on the "value" meal plan, it was also good having Seagrapes in the hotel for breakfast every morning.

Speaking of meal plans, ours worked fine for us. The breakfast buffet at Seagrapes was great. Dinner at the Marketplace (a good walk over to Royal Towers) was OK with lots of variety, just don't expect fine dining. We ate such a late breakfast and had so much, we never ate lunch while we were there except the first day. That lunch was at the Cave Grill and was around $35 for 4 people - really not bad at all. Drinks are very expensive, though. Be prepared to spend $10/drink, and they're not very strong.

The one thing I have to comment on was the staff. They were EXCEPTIONAL. I was concerned after reading some reviews that their attitude would be less than accomodating. Nothing could be further from the truth. Without exception, every single person on property we had contact with was beyond helpful, friendly and couldn't do enough for us.

Overall, we had a great time. Our kids (ages 11 & 15) loved their individual nightclubs and ended up staying out way past their parents! Did the dolphin experienc and the sea lion interaction, plus jet skiing. A great family vacation, 3-4 days is plenty to see and do it all.

Our daughter & her family was there also - they went to Mesa Grill and there bill was $350.00.
Another complaint is that the activites are not open all the time. Our grandson wanted to do the Atlantis Speedway while we were there and it was not open the four days we were there even tho it was posted to be open on Monday.
This is not the place to go if you are on any kind of budget.
There are also so many rules & regulations, it is not very family friendly. PICK ANOTHER PLACE TO GO!

The resort is beautiful, the room was nice and the staff was friendly. My biggest complaint was the cost of food. The food prices are so high that it brings the whole enjoyment factor down A LOT. We went in june 2011 and during our visit we paid $9 for a small 3 scoop cup of ice cream and $35 on a plain pizza ($7 for individual slices). It was very hard to enjoy the place because of this. We got the meal plan, which was a mistake. It was $100 per person per night, so for it was $200 a day for me and my wife but the plan did not include lunch, drinks, snacks or the 15% gratuity added to every meal. I would love to go back but I will not until they bring the food costs to a reasonable level.

I hope Atlantis gets enough negative feedback about this to make a change. I'm not a picky person and I'm very easy to please but nothing can justify these prices!

For those of you who don't mind or have the $$ to spend the place is great. It was very clean and the scenery is beautiful! Like I said earlier, my only problem was the outrageous food prices. Unfortunately, this one problem was large enough to have big impact on our enjoyment.

we spend $15k on a family vacation for 4 people. it was the worst experience! we waited in line for 20 min to talk to a manager because so many people were complaining. we booked private transport through the hotel that never showed up both ways and we never got a refund after many calls. DONT USE THE TRANSPORT - cabs are cheaper, plentiful, and private. for $60 you share a bus with many families and lots of luggage. Room was a mess and took the manager 3 tries to fix. every night diner reservations for 7 and sat down at 9 and were not served till almost 11pm! the kids were sleeping at the table and we never got a refund for a $400 diner we never ate.

Room Tip: dont. ritz carlton prices with days inn service
