“Bahamas on cheap.”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

We just came back from Harbour side hotel on Paradise island in the Bahamas. We spent very good time there. From Indianapolis, for 3 of us cost us about $1200 for round trip. I had for my family a lot of raw food as pasta, cake and pancake mix, eggs, very. Also browned and frozen meat, meat balls, burgers. All arrived in very good shape. We did buy milk from the grossery by the Straw market an some other "necessity". Just for reference I checked the restrerprices in our little hotel's grocery. The quart of milk is $6 and bottle of Tropicana orange juice is $8, the 12 eggs pack is $8.
Yes we went to a restaurants we went to the Green parrot. It is by the beginning of the bridge, that will take you to Nassau. It is more like bar and gril type. It is good rather for supper and drink place then for supper for a family. The food is pretty good - for 2 beers, soft drink and supper for 3 was about $70. We went for supper at McKenzie located by the other end of the same bridge. It is nice and very, very robust. We had " the famous conch salad/tropical salad, fish and fish sticks with2 beers and soft drink - $45.!!! There is no reliable toilet. We went to see Anchorage also. We at end presentation an thy gave us $90 in restaurant money. One plate could cost you over$45. I think is over priced.
We enjoyed the water park $138 a day a man -free for us. We walked couple of times to the town on the bridge and used the public transportation. Very conviniant, reliable and safe. Gives you the taste of the teal life on the island.

Atlantis is awesome! Let me break this down the best that I can:

Room: We stayed at Harborside in building 1. We overlooked the megayacht Marina and it was beautiful. We walked through the Marina to get to the rest of the Resort whenever possible as it was a lovely walk; about 10 minutes to the front door of the Royal tower. Our room was clean, needed some minor repairs, but overall was perfect for our needs. Location was great because we loved the Marina.

Food: Great variety and tasty. We have a child with Celiac disease, and the chefs at each restaurant we went to were very accommodating. We loved Carmine's in Marina Village the most, followed by Bimini Road. The buffets at the Marketplace and Seagrapes were average, but at least 5 different sets of taste buds were satisfied. Marina Pizza good too, and fun to sit by the boats while eating. We actually packed an entire suitcase of cereal, munchies, pasta, etc. and used it all with 3 growing boys. We bought milk/butter and other things in the Sundry store, because we didn't want to take the time to leave the resort for the supermarket, although that would have been less expensive. We liked the idea of foodstore2go.com but never got around to it. Maybe next time!

Aquaventure: Something for everyone! from a 5 year old to a 50 year old, we all enjoyed it. The Current/Rapids was the family favorite- something we could all do together. My kids >48" loved the Mayan Temple and Power Tower slides. Pools and spas were clean and wonderful. My little guy was lucky enough to do an Easter Egg Hunt in the pool and he loved it.

Staff: Extremely friendly- especially if we said 'hello' or 'have a nice day' first. They probably see thousands of visitors passing by them daily, some of whom are probably rude, and yet they were all pleasant, seemed genuine, and helpful. The only staff that didn't smile or talk to me were the cleaning ladies in the restroom by the Hospitality Center in Aquaventure- but I almost can't blame them. Not the best job in the park....

Extras: We did the deep water dolphin adventure (very cool), SCUBA dived with Cove Adventures (first time for SCUBA and my kids are hooked, very knowledgeable and helpful instructors), Atlantis Pals (worth the smile on my son's face as he created man's best friend) , Atlantis Speedway (all 3 of the kids loved this one- plus we have been racing our car at home now) , Seasquirts (very cute to see the little ones feed the fish) , RUSH, CRUSH (kids loved the independence of going to their own "club"), watched several movies, and still managed to lounge a bit in the glorious sun. Speaking of sun, I read an earlier post about bring lots of sunscreen so I did, but still had to buy 2 cans of SPF 70! We own a pool and rarely even use sunscreen (not the best choice, but we are olive-skinned and usually do not burn) so buying/using 70 was humorous for us but we needed it. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise Easter service on the Royal deck- very uplifting, and my kids are still singing some of the songs from it.

I know I am probably missing a lot of things to share, so let's just say that I wish everyone had the opportunity to visit the amazing Atlantis. Know going in that everything is at least 2x what you'd pay at home, and then forget it and don't let that put a damper on your time. We thought that this would be our once-in-a lifetime vacation, but have already started dreaming about a possible return! Hope we are blessed enough to be able to do that. When I queried everyone about their favorite vacation memory, no one was able to pinpoint one thing since we all loved multiple things. We are already recommending Atlantis to anyone who asks!

Room Tip: 3rd floor of building 1 at Harborside had a great view and was quiet. Loved having a full balcony w...

Our family of four (me, my wife and two daughters aged 10 and 11) booked the Harborside through a broker, Shoshana, through VRBO.com. The booking was easy for our one bedroom deluxe. We brought a blow up mattress in case the pull out couch was too uncomfortable but the girls thought it was fine. We were worried about Deluxe vs. Premium and the Deluxe was fine for us. We had plenty of room, the washer and dryer worked well, and we used the extra money we would have spent to go out to dinner, etc. We had a small balcony. Usually in resorts and cruise ships we use the balcony to dry off clothing. With the dryer we didn't need the balcony and didn't use it much.

I found the employees friendly and helpful. We did visit the grocery store to fill up the fridge and I did see a guy making grocery deliveries there, too. Our unit was dated but everything worked (except no hot water for a short time on the morning we were checking out). My daughter is a picky eater so we really appreciated the small kitchenette where we prepared lunches and some dinners for her there. There isn't much room, but enough. The grocery store was a little more expensive than Southern California, but not by much, and had a good variety. I certainly wouldn't pay for an extra suitcase to bring food if you can swing a trip to the grocery. Just get everything there. We didn't have to pay for luggage so we brought some stuff from home.

The Harborside is within walking distance (you walk a block or two up the street to get to the enterance) to the Marina Village where there is a Starbucks, Quiznos, Johnny Rockets and other restaurants. We ate at the Seafire Steakhouse there. I recommend making reservations months in advance as recommended by Atlantis. Not all restaurants were open every day. We didn't find any reason to leave the resort, except to visit the grocery store.

Every morning we went down to the Harborside pool to get wrist bands for Aquaventure, the Atlantis water park. You need a new wrist band only if you took the previous day's band off. It has your checkout date on it. There was never any line to get the bands at Harborside pool. The Harborside pool was set up mostly for smaller kids. They did have table tennis, shuffleboard, kids pool, pool table. The Point restaurant is right there at the Harborside with a full bar and menu items. We took a pizza back to the room. It was good.

The shuttles were 99% great. They come every few minutes to the Harborside front lobby area and you just look at the sign in the bus to see where it is going. The buses are also numbered. Some just go directly to the Royal Towers, one directly to the Coral Towers, others make multiple stops. The movie theater and the lagoon are closest to Coral Towers and we took the shuttle to the Cove where the Dolphin Cay is located. We only once had to wait more than a few minutes for a shuttle and that was late at night. Bring your room key if you want to walk along the docks to get over to Atlantis. It is about a 10-15 minutes walk. The yachts are amazing. Security checked our room keys and wrist bands going to and from but it was no big deal. The shuttle drivers were nice and some even entertaining! The shuttle rides were very short. It would have been more convenient to the water park to stay at the Royal Towers, but the benefits of the Harborside were worth it.

This review is for the Harborside reosrt. We were very disappointed in the condition of our room at Harborside. The rooms are very dated. An employee at the resort commented that the rooms have not been updated within the 10 years he has been working there. The shower had mold on the tile, furniture was very used, phones did not work....just not worth the price at all. The staff was very friendly and the resort is awesome.

Room Tip: If you can swing it... stay at the Cove.

We visit the Atlantis every year through the casino. We weren't able to secure a good nightly rate so I researched on the web. I found VacationCandy and must say their rates for the Harborside were so much cheaper than going direct to the hotel. Plus, we got to cook a few meals on our own and save a little bit of money. Going back to the Harborside each day after the slides was a nice relaxing way to settle down. The pool at the Harborside was much cooler and quieter and with a view of the harbor, it was great. Everything that VacationCandy promised was made and we were very pleased with everything. Thanks for a great week.

Once again we enjoyed the incredible paradise of the Bahamas. We have been returning to Harborside at Atlantis since our purchase in 2006 and have not been disappointed. We feel totally rejuvenated and energized after decompressing from a real tough winter here. From the moment we disembark from the airplane and head towards Harborside we feel so much more relaxed and peaceful. We take advantage of the whole Atlantis/Harborside experience: water parks, restaurants, pools etc. We know that a big complaint is the $$$$ involved here but it is what it is. We happen to think that the restaurants are some of the best. And we have dined at some of the finest in NYC. A well-kept secret is The Point restaurant at Harborside. Although anyone staying at the Atlantis has access they really don't know about it. So you don't need reservations and it is just wonderful to sit and eat, especially dinner at sunset. You can't get any closer to the water and the views of Nassau are tremendous. The only other restaurant that gets you up close to the water is Dune at the One and Only club. We know that we have arrived when we are sitting having a great meal with the ocean right in front of us and the beautiful sunset settling over us. The other great feature at Harborside is the fact that Atlantis guests have no right to access the pool. This makes it very restful and peaceful even though there are plenty of kids swimming and playing. It is truly family oriented which is very nice. We are truly sad when it is time to go, but then again, you have to leave to to return to paradise again and again!

Room Tip: Try for a harbor view.
