This is the best place to stay when you're visiting Atlantis. You can escape from the crowds at all the big hotels at the resort and have your own private villa. The pool at Harborside is fantastic and wasn't crowded. We enjoyed walking around the harbor and seeing the many beautiful yachts, and then boarding a bus to take us anywhere else we wanted to go at the resort.

I was interested to read many reviews in tripadvisor written by people who had had negative experiences with this resort. For us it was a wonderful vacation. We rented a timeshare through redweek.com so right off the bat we were in good hands and enjoying the process. I must admit that we had been forewarned about the food situation at this resort - too pricey to eat out, and too expensive to buy at the resort's sundry store. So we packed a lot of our own food for cooking in the timeshare's kitchen. It's easy to do since Bahamas customs doesn't affect food for personal consumption (only if you plan to sell it commercially), and also you're not taking too many clothes (we lived in our swim suits!) so you will have the room in your luggage. The unit also had a washer and dryer so if we ran out of clothes it was convenient to wash them. We also took the resort's shuttle and shopped at a local grocery store. I also want to say that our experience was that the staff was very friendly and helpful. This is an absolutely gorgeous resort and we definitely recommend renting a timeshare through redweek.com to anyone thinking of going there.

My husband and I just returned from a week at the Harborside Resort at Atlantis - it was our 35th wedding anniversary trip (we spent our Honeymoon on Paradise Island). The Harborside allowed us to enjoy the tropics with a beautiful view sitting daily on the balcony. We found the staff and everyone we encountered extremely friendly and helpful. Before we left, I saw many negative blogs - were they staying at the same place??? We took a small suitcase with food for breakfast and lunch and enjoyed some wonderful meals out (Carmines and the Mesa Grill were awesome).
I would recommend it to everyone!

We had a great vacation at Harborside and wanted to pass along a few tips, since we certainly appreciated reading those from others. We have 2 boys (3 and 9), so we packed a suitcase full of cereal, mac 'n cheese, snacks, peanut butter, jelly and a loaf of bread. We ate breakfast and lunch in our room, which helped to keep food costs down.

We found a Snack Hut on Atlantis by the kids pool (with the bucket of water) that had a value meal of a hot dog, grilled cheese or a wrap that came with a bag of potato chips and soda or juice for $7-$8. We nicknamed it 'Value Hut' and ate there several times. The meal was big enough for an adult. We also walked to Outback one night, which is just across the bridge (the far bridge from the resort). I had a BBQ chicken breast sandwich with fries for $10, and sodas were only $2.25. It was worth the walk! We also found that Starbucks sells a giant beignet/donut for under $3.00. We picked that up several times during the week for a breakfast treat. One beignet was enough for all of us to share. Lastly, I'd recommend the Green Parrot, a restaurant located across the first bridge. We had $10-$12 burgers, but they were particularly yummy!

We loved Cove Beach, but we didn't manage to find it until the second half of our stay. There aren't any waves, so it is great for the little ones.

I will start with the positive. We stayed at The Atlantis and the resort is absolutely beautiful, but very very expensive. Just going to a regular restaurant onsite (Carmine's) will cost you $100 for a steak (no salad or veg included).

The staff must not be paid all that well because they are just sitting there waiting for you to leave something valuable so they can snatch it up. I accidently left my camera bag at the front desk that consisted of 4 cameras (digial SLR with extended zoom lense, sony camcorder, sony cybershot digital camera, and fuji underwater camera) valued over $2000. It took me 15 minutes to realize it was missing and when I went back they said they didn't see anything. BULL! They claim they have security cameras everywhere but when I questioned it they give you a bull crap story of how they don't point in the exact location I lost it. Their security dept is so slow that the theif can hop on plane to China before you get any answers. I even begged them and offered a reward to just return my memory sticks and keep the cameras as those pictures are priceless, but so far Nothing. Now I'm left with not one picture of my entire vacation and a very resentful feeling towards Atlantis.

If you do happen to take the trip please be sure to lock up all valuables and use their lockers ($5 per day) located by the salt water pool. Also, beware of wearing necklaces as they make you remove them prior to getting on the water slides.

We stayed in a 900 sq. ft unit at the Harborside Resort on Atlantis. It was spacious, clean & very comfortable. It had nice touches like granite counters and a completely equipped kitchen that made it feel more like home. Atlantis was truly paradise! We have 3 kids - 14, 10 and 4. Everyone had plenty to do and see. We played at Aquaventure almost every day! We took a snorkeling tour with Stuart's Cove - it was fabulous! We even swam with reef sharks - eek! We took the city tour - it was great - got us away from Atlantis to see the island's many sites! We also ate most of our dinners on the island - highly recommend Luciano's, the Fish Fry and The Poop Deck - especially the one at Sandyport - it offers beach dining - that was incredible! At Atlantis, the my 10 y/o loved the race track. We all had a lot of laughs at the Comedy Show. We enjoyed touring the dig & I had a great massage at Mandara Spa. The shuttles made everything close and convenient. The water ferry is fun for a visit to the straw market. And, Marina Village was great for eating & shopping. Don't bother with any of the island's malls - they are terrible! Snorkeling at Atlantis' many private beaches is also wonderful - lots of colorful sea life! My youngest loved visiting Dolphin's Cay and feeding, playing with a Sea Lion. And, my husband loved the casino. An incredible vacation with lifelong memories!
