My wife and I recently returned from a five day trip.
We weren’t expecting much as we read many of the reviews before going, but we had a really good time.
This was our first trip to a Riu and the Bahamas and we celebrated a baby-moon.

The resort was fairly small as we are used to staying in larger resorts. However we kind of liked the smaller atmosphere.

Beach:
Beach was nice and the water is beautiful. The beach was a little dirty but nothing too bad. I didn’t have any problem with getting chairs on the beach with umbrellas. However I would go down each morning around 8/9 and get chairs, umbrella and table from the staff. I’d leave for a couple hours and leave a magazine or a pair of flip flops. Nobody touched anything
I am just used to that being the norm at any all inclusive that you need to get there early to get good spots.

The beach is also like being at a ballgame with all the vendors constantly walking around about jet skis. We didn’t participate in anything they had, but when once saying no they would leave you alone.

Pools: two really nice pools with a bar in between them. The laying bed beds in the pools were very nice.
One pool was more of a party pool while the other was more relaxed.

Room:
Our room was nice and big. Our view was further back from the beach but we had a nice view of the sunset. No bathtub in the room and only a standing shower. Daily fresh towels so not many problems there.

Lobby:
Yes there is a mild sewage smell and no it’s not that big of a deal. You get over it quick. The coffee shop in the lobby was really cool. Only gripe is that it didn’t open until 10am. Again we’re morning people.

Restaurants:
Jerk chicken stand for lunch is good. Lunch buffet also really good. Ate at three of the speciality restaurants. All except Indian. They were ok. The waiting in line isn’t bad except for the steakhouse. I would recommend getting there by 6 at the latest.
The other places we would just show up around 620 and get in for 630.
The dinner buffet IMO was really good. Best dinner buffet i’ve had at an all-inclusive. Makes up for the havfact you have to wait in line at the other places.

As for away from the resort, we went to Atlantis the one day and just walked in off the beach. Think we got to do some stuff you normally have to pay for. Eventually they asked us for a room key so we just left.

We also did a day snorkeling/beach trip to Rose Island that was fun.
Also spent one morning in Nassau on Bay Street. Straw Market has a lot of souvenirs but the people in there are relentless.

Second trip to this property in 3 years, first was for babymoon, this was a sisters trip just came back 2 days ago.

-Rooms
Partial view 14th floor, not bad. No slippers, room cleaning was not very good, 2 out of the 4 nights they didn't give us new towels or change the trash (we left a tip every night)
-Mattress had an intense groove in it and the room ventilation was not amazing

Check in
-Got to the resort for 10am, did not receive our room till 3pm and that was after checking with them more than 4 times. Some people got theirs right away

Drinks
-Much better than I remembered. Not top shelf but good enough

Beach
-Lots of fish, big and small! Saw some Barracudas a few days pretty close to shore. Water was crystal clear and really warm! However, there was no beach cleanup, plastic cups everywhere, and overall lots of littering and lots and lots of vendors . 2 out of 4 days we struggled to find umbrellas, the resort would just run out. The public beach right next door offers them for $20USD for the day if your really desperate. There is no drink service on the beach.

Food
We did not wait in line once for the restaurants and tried 2/3. Indian was pretty bad, but the dessert was OK. Krystal was surprisingly decent. The buffet was good most days. Seafood selection was really good! I think they need to focus on cleanliness a bit more as there was lots of flies around the fruit and ice cream. The Jerk hut outside the pool is really good as well!

For the price point I think it was as good as expected. It was a quick getaway at a reasonable hotel. I said this before about this resort of the very "we don't care" attitude and it still holds true. They know you will be at the Atlantis most nights or the Marina and they shut down most things at 11pm. Most people are out at the Atlantis after dinner. The Calypso bar had really good music, shout out to the deejay.

The Fish fry was amazing, we took a cab for about $15 USD one way. One meal and apps costs about $50 USD at the Island restaurant. Be sure to get some sky juice!

You can also take the water taxi to the straw market and walk to the fish fry (15 -20 min walk) the water taxi is $4USD one way and it runs every 30 minutes until 6pm.

WiFi was excellent, did not have an issue at all, even at the beach! The smell in the lobby is true, but you get over it. Have low expectations and you should be good!

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for having chosen our hotel a second time for your holiday and for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Firstly, we apologize for the failure to meet your expectations regarding the room cleaning. Please let us underline that our housekeeping service has the responsibility of cleaning every day and skip it only when the guest has the “Do not disturb” red sign on the doorknob. If this wasn’t the case, we sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience.

At the same time, we hope you will understand that check-in starts at 15:00, therefore before that time we cannot guarantee that rooms will be available but our staff do work tirelessly complying with specified time limits.

Finally, we are pleased that the overall quality of the alcoholic beverages fulfilled your expectations.

We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back at one of our RIU hotels soon in order to deliver the high standards of guest service and quality which are typical at our resorts.

With our best wishes we remain,

Just got back.... stayed for 8 nights and this property has room for improvement. The staff is great but their management team puts them in a bad spot. The first come first serve for the restaurants is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Hostesses are constantly put in a bad spot with pissed off customers about this policy. The beds, very very uncomfortable. The food is good but not what you expect at an all inclusive resort. Lobby smell is . If not for the friendly staff I would give it a 1. Lots and lots of room for improvement.

The facilities were very clean and very well kept. All of the staff were very friendly and went above and beyond, particularly during meals.

The resort is not huge and there aren't as many organized events (ie. volleyball, salsa lessons by the pool) as there are at bigger resorts so it made for a much more peaceful atmosphere.

The waterfront was great, water is beautiful - super clear and clean!

Would definitely recommend!

The front desk staff were rude arrogant and would not give you the time of day. Check out at noon shuttle did not leave until 630 no courtesy room and on late check out. Were told to check back and there would be additional 100 until 5pm the day of. Found out from other people that they boom late check out the first day. Very selective staff. The assistant manager Ms. Lynn is a capital B and should be fired. They could all use a course in customer service food was decent althought no restaurant takes reservations first come first serve and after you wait in line they tell you no shorts. REALLY
