“Villa is OK but Outdated & Dark”
Reviewed 27 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The location of this villa is fine but we had trouble getting into the villa as the passcode given to us did not tell us to enter #. The front desk were polite when we asked for help checking in (due to the passcode being incomplete) but made it very clear that they would not be able to help us during our stay due to us renting directly from the owner. The villa is odd and very dark. Both bedrooms are small and I could not figure out how to turn on the lamps in Master Bedroom, so I used the closet light. Beds were not comfortable at all. I will be back but I will not stay in this unit again. I would suggest to anyone considering renting a villa, only rent the ground floor units. Much easier access and nice patio areas. I will say that we spent each morning at Viola's, the restaurant on the premises. The staff there are AWESOME! Ask for Tania and tell her Karen sent you. If you rent lounge chairs on the beach, only deal with Lano, he is honest and make sure you tell him that "Tania from Viola's" told you to only rent from him. We paid $75.00 for 2 loungechairs & umbrella set up each day for 3 days. Paula is the local who makes the necklaces and anklets - I highly recommend meeting her. "Big Paula" is the taller local who sells the wraps/sarongs - she just finished her last chemo treatment for breast cancer. She's taller than the other "Paula" - I suggest getting to know the locals as they will look out for you and tell you which vendors to stay away from on the beach.

We really had a great time on our "Girls Weekend 2015" but our only complaint was the dark, depressing villa we stayed in. Next time we visit we are renting #3. This villa is not oceanfront. I would suggest to the owner to renovate and update this villa.

Thank you for your comments. We rely on these to improve visitors experiences. Each place we have a different style of presentation- this one is Indonesian-Balinese style and is being updated shortly. Another is Indian inspired with bright vibrant colours. The 3rd 2 bedroom is pastel brightly coloured. All 2 bedrooms have ocean views overlooking the pool. If someone wishes direct oceanfront then these are significantly more costly. Our 3 bedroom is tropical inspired with a huge vaulted ceiling and a popular choice. The beach and ocean are steps away from all our locations.

Paradise Island is absolutely beautiful. The condo we rented was just as the pictures portrayed. John Fitzsimons the owner was great to deal with. He responded to my emails quickly and supplied us with all necessary information regarding our stay. Dianna who is the manager for the condo was very personable and very friendly. We had a small issue with the DVD player and she took care of it immediately. She even called the next day to see if everything was okay. The beach was absolutely breathtaking and you could see it from the condo. Beach chair rentals are only $10.00 for the whole day.
Viola's which is a restaurant/bar and is located within the condo site was a great place to eat if you didn't feel like going out. Most of the employees were very friendly. If you should go there ask for Vardo. He filled us in with all the good local places to go and one night both my sons went out on the town with him. A must go to is The Blue Lagoon. We spent the day there and it was beautiful. You can do Dolphins encounters or swim with them and the staff was very entertaining. I would say that the Blue Lagoon was my favorite. On the north side of the Blue Lagoon you can go snorkeling if the water isn't too rough. Unfortunately the day we were there snorkeling wasn't permitted. We also visited the straw market. The vendors are very aggressive but if your a good haggler you can purchase items for a reasonable price. We visited Atlantis which I did not find too enjoyable. Reason being the staff is not well informed. The layout of the park in my opinion didn't make sense. And some stands only took credit cards and others only cash. And in most cases you didn't know that until you were at the counter. Be sure to take id with you wherever you go if your going to use your credit card. If given the opportunity I would vacation again in the Bahamas and most definitely stay at the same condo.

Thank you for your comments. We would love to provide beach loungers, but to store them and ensure they are secure is a challenge. The loungers provided are poolside only. I agree food is expensive. Eating at the Fish Fry where local fresh fish is cooked is the better value. Ordering food online provides some savings. Basic items such as sunscreen will be more expensive because of import duties. We do have an ocean view across the pool from Sunrise 12A as we are at the base of the pool. I agree the colour of the ocean is amazing!

“Excellent value for Paradise Island”
Reviewed 2 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Overall a good experience, starting with the simple booking process and John's helpful information. The unit was clean, spacious, towels plentiful, nice kitchen/dining area, large master shower, and free wi-fi. Decor is slightly dated and there were a couple of very minor cosmetic issues (broken towel bar in bathroom, cracked kitchen cabinet, front door "glitchy").. again mostly insignificant, although the front door not locking could have become a safety concern. The ocean view is quite limited, but the property itself is ocean front so it's a very short walk to the beach. Foodstore2go.com was a huge convenience and while still expensive, it saved us from eating every meal out at very over-priced area restaurants.

Only negative experience was an interaction with a hotel manager. After realizing we had no butter/oil to make eggs one morning, I had my husband go to Viola's (awesome bartenders!) and ask if they might have a little tab of butter we could buy. A manager happened to be there and went, in his words, "nuts" about how they would absolutely not do anything of the sort and it wasn't their job to accommodate such demands, etc. Yeah, a tab of butter. Pretty demanding.

Based on other options in the area, I would still recommend the property and this unit as a wonderful alternative to Atlantis.

“Very nice house with perfect location and cooperative owner”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This was our first experience at vacation rental . I was very skeptical about it. But John answered all my questions and was very quick with responses. I love the location of this house, its so close to the beach. Very nice house with all the things properly arranged. We travelled with an infant , so upon requesting manager before we came in ,she arranged high chair for us too. Clean house, perfect for our family of four. its better than I saw in pictures. If I ever go back to Nassau, will come back to this same house. Loved the place.

It is a matter of trust when you rent from a private owner. We take it very seriously and as renters of other private rentals ourselves we know the trepidation it can engender. We know all owners strive to ensure a great experience and it gives great satisfaction when travellers enjoy their stay.

“Great place close to everything!”

Sunrise Beach Villa was perfect for our family vacation to the Bahamas, so was unit 12A. John was easy to work with, answered all our questions timely, and did not disappoint. There are two pools in the complex, and the balcony has an ocean view over one of the pools. The unit was clean, modern, and cozy. We found the ladies at the front desk extremely helpful as well. Atlantis is close by, however walking 10-15min in the humidity and heat warranted a cab most of the time for our small group. We ordered groceries which came in a timely manner and saved us quite a bit over the 6 days we were there. The only negative I would say was the wifi being intermittent (but fine when reset), the cleaning lady showed up at 9:30am the day we were leaving (she left and came back) and the termite guy came with the cleaning lady about 30 minutes before we were ready to head home so we sat by the pool waiting for our cab to the airport. Great trip overall!
