We've been to Atlantis twice, the first time was 8 years ago before the Cove and Reef were built. So we've also stayed at the Royal Towers. However, after having stayed at the Cove, I'd say it is A-MAZING! The Cove is definitely geared toward adults. All of the family friendly activities are going on at the Towers, but the adults only pool at the Cove is definitely the place to be if you're looking to have a great day! There is a DJ cranking out music all day long. If you don't enjoy party music and a party atmosphere, I would suggest finding another pool. There is a shuttle that runs between the Cove/Reef and Towers all day every day, and it's super convenient. I would suggest that if you have a tee time at the Ocean Club Golf course, that you go down to catch that shuttle with PLENTY of time. My husband and I ended up waiting on it for over 30 minutes. With that said, if you have the chance to play while you're in Nassau, this is one of the most beautiful courses I've ever seen! The food and drinks were all wonderful....and pricey. But I'm sure after reading other reviews, you already know that. Just go prepared. We stayed on the club level (requires hotel key access), and the views and suite were breathtaking. All in all, you will NOT be disappointed!!

This was my first trip to the Bahamas with my partner, and we stayed for a week at the Cove on the Club level. I would classify ourselves as moderate travelers and certainly ones who like to experience something special. Our trip could not have been better!

The Club level is a must if it's available - the delicious spread at breakfast and the afternoon hors d'oeuvres was plenty for us to not have to purchase any breakfast or lunch (we did bring along some light snacks to have pool-side), and with the complimentary cocktails and food from 5-7, you can save on your dinner bill! The food was always delicious, plentiful, and there was a great variety. Not skimpy by any means.

The grounds, beaches, pools, Aquaventure, buildings, etc., were all great!

The thing that stood out most to us is the friendliness of the staff - it's palpable throughout all of Atlantis. They were accommodating, helpful, respectful, and genuinely nice to be around. I can't tell you how many times they would strike a casual conversation and ask "how our stay is?", "where are we from and are we enjoying ourselves?", "how's the day?", etc. Just a real nice vibe!

Yes, it's expensive (we spent $1200-1500 total daily for our room/accommodations which included food/beverage and entertainment), but the Cove is a luxury hotel and the cost is what we anticipated, and I would not classify it as over-priced. It's a great value, especially if staying on the Club level.

Room Tip: Club levels are on higher floors with better views. Ask for a large balcony if you like to enjoy ti...

Surrounded by beautiful turquoise blue waters, outlandish water slides, elegant pools and luxury accommodations The Cove offers something for everybody. Local shopping, eclectic dining choices, a casino, and excellent over all service adds a little bit of pampering to your stay. The food is good at almost all of the restaurants in the resort area.
Now for the not so good part..all of the above is very expensive! Dinner for 2 averages $100 price includes the automatic 15% gratuity, Pina Colada served in a plastic water cup $14, straw hat bought at the resort $188, if you forget your bathing suit it will cost as little as $195 to replace it, and a beach cover up at resort store $488. Make sure that if you stay at this resort you are prepared to spend some money. The best bargain for breakfast at the hotel is the buffet; $73 for 2.

Room Tip: The corner rooms offer more windows to take in the breathtaking view of the beach and ocean. The ro...

The Cove is the SECOND nicest hotel in the Atlantis grouping of hotels....the nicest is called the One & Only Ocean Club; that's where celebrities and the wealthy stay. It's much quieter and classier over there...tip: if you can't afford a room at the Ocean Club, you can still make a rezzy for lunch or dinner. If you do go during the day, check out the gardens behind the pool area, it's lovely.

GROUNDS/ROOM
The lobby and grounds at the Cove are very beautiful and modern; the rooms are more than comfortable. Tip: ask for a room as high up as possible, on the sunset side facing the lighthouse, with a large balcony. (Some rooms have smaller balconies.)

CAIN POOL
The biggest perk of staying at the Cove (other than it being a world away from the rest of Atlantis, in terms of look, feel and clientele...except of course for the aforementioned Ocean Club which has its own look/feel/clientele) is EXCLUSIVE access to the Cain pool. The Cain pool caters to the young and beautiful...the DJ pumps house and hip hop tunes all day; some of the youth can get a little rowdy at times...but obviously all Cove guests are welcome there and for the most part, it's just a sweet place to chill out. The pool area design is AWESOME and nicer/more chic than any other pool at Atlantis. It's also full service, offering food and drinks all day (9-5). The pool staff will even set up your lounger/towels/umbrella for you...just ask the pool concierge. If you're a sun worshipper, part of the pool area does lose sun around lunchtime for a couple hours (as the sun hides behind a building) so pay attention on your first visit to see which areas get more sun for more hours of the day. Tip: at the Cain, even though it's not well advertised, Fiji water and fruit is free so just ask for it. Everything else is reliably expensive ($22 USD for a burger, etc) but the food is good. If you want a day bed, as opposed to loungers, you have to spend a minimum of $500 on food/drinks in one day (this only makes sense if you're in a large group).

BEACH
The beach at Atlantis is very long and very nice but there are no palapas or umbrellas; instead there are partial canopies attached to the loungers (at the Cove beach anyway) but they don't provide 100% shade. As for the water, in Feb the temperature was quite cold.

FOOD
Restaurants on site at the Cove: Mosaic has a daily brunch for $35 which has ALL your brunch yummies and then some (glazed ham?) till 11am...I can't comment on their lunch or dinner. Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay) is an EXCELLENT choice for dinner; it's also a nice bar to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails. The Cove also has another cocktail bar called Seaglass, where you can smoke cigarettes inside and play some table games or slots. But I like the ambiance much better at Mesa.

As for the other restaurants in Atlantis, Bahamanian Club and Casa D'Angelo were good; I found Nobu and Cafe Martinique ($$$$$) underwhelming for the price, although Nobu makes AMAZING desserts and both places have nice ambiance.

Lunch tips: take a cab into Bahamas to the "Fish Fry" (15 min ride) for lunch one day and hit up the restaurant "O Andros" (sit outside) where you can enjoy some grilled or fried grouper with coleslaw and macaroni and cheese (or do like the Bahamanians do and order some conch....man do they love their conch! Pronounced 'conk') Try the "sky juice"! And another great local spot is the Poop Deck...it's so close to the Cove that you could even walk there. But we cabbed, which took about 6-8 min. The Poop Deck patio overlooks the harbour with all the fishing boats.

LOCATION OF THE COVE
It's about a 10-12 minute walk to the shops/casino/marina, but it's close to the gym and spa which are only about 5-6 minutes away.

STAFF
Super friendly and helpful!!

RANDOM INFO & TIPS
All food and drink at Atlantis is ridiculously expensive. So make sure to factor that into your holiday! You're in for a big bill at the end if you dine/drink like we do :) Your best bet is to bring a bottle of booze with you from duty free to offset some of your drink expenses.

The Cove rooms have bar fridges but they're stocked with overpriced items. If you want a fridge to store your own water/pop/beer that you bought at a local store, just ask the front desk. They'll bring up an empty fridge for you. (Note: each night during turn-down service the maid will bring you 2 free small bottles of water. Tip them and ask for more.)

Don't forget to walk the Atlantis marina area; it's lovely and has some incredible yachts. They also occasionally have live music outside. For a cheaper dinner, enjoy some pizza at the outdoor tables overlooking the yachts (there's a pizzeria and deli there).

Atlantis has thousands of marine animals...sharks, sting rays, fish of all sorts...something like 11 lagoons and of course the main aquarium. Explore and check out the daily animal feedings. Try the "current" lazy river, which is like a wave-pool lazy river...it's close to the Cove. And nearby there's a waterslide with a tunnel that takes you inside the shark tank!

Final tip: LOCK YOUR SUITCASES! Our flight out of Nassau was delayed 45 minutes and we had some items stolen from one of our suitcases.

BOTTOM LINE
The Cove is a beautiful property and a short walk away (or from the rest of the resort playground they call Atlantis. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high up as possible, on the sunset side (facing the lighthouse).

Having traveled to Atlantis on two previous occasions I was somewhat prepared for what to expect but will admit still being surprised a couple of times. This was a trip I gifted to my sister and her two daughters so I expected to pay for the experience but wasn't impressed by some of our experiences.

The Pros:

-> The multitude of things to do. My 17 year old niece was stunned at how busy we were and on the way home commented about "needing a holiday from our holiday".
-> The Cove is a beautiful resort. Never once heard sound from the hallway, the view is incredible. Sure, they could do with an update on the decor but it is by no means offensive.
-> The shuttles - if you miss one, another one is just a moment away. Most of the shuttle drivers are very friendly and the ride is quick.
-> The housekeeping staff are FABULOUS and appreciate everything you might leave for them. My friend got hurt riding a scooter and the maid stayed with her, got her special tea to help with the aches and checked up on her everyday for the balance of our stay. Charlene (middle name Yvonne) you are an ambassador for the Bahamas and the Cove is luck to have you.
-> The waterpark is a great way to spend the day and get some exercise. FUN FUN FUN
-> The pools are plentiful, with lots of chairs to go around. Really enjoyed the Cove pool and the amount of space being there afforded us. Nice touch to have the arm band so we didn't have to show room keys all the time.

The Cons:

->The cost of the food and drink is one thing, the daily surcharges for staying on the property were high in my opinion. Just give me a daily room total, don't nickle and dime me on everything.
->Room Service - charges $4 per guest not a flat delivery charge
->On the 3rd night of our 7 night visit they told my nieces about the week pass you could purchase for the teen club Crush. When the girls, at our insistence, asked about switching to that they were told flat out NO. When we visited the place, the person at the front door had to call a manager and after a 20 minute wait he begrudgingly gave us the deal.
->15% surcharge/gratuity on everything is automatic and the disapproving look you get from the staff when you don't add on an additional tip is a turn-off.
->"That's extra", having to pay $15/adult to go onto the beach at the Dolphin exhibit (after paying $189 per child for their experience) was excessive in my opinion. Watching them almost bowl this elderly couple that mistakenly went onto the beach was quite unnecessary. They didn't understand why they paid almost $300 on the cruise ship for an activity for their grand-daughter and then couldn't see her enjoying it.
->Lack of soda in the sundry stores and no pop machine anywhere in the hotel. We were told it's because if there is a bar nearby the store cannot sell sodas, don't know if it's true or not but the $4 per can room service charge was hard to stomach.
->Incorrect information: we telephoned the prompt service line and were told Atlantis Pals in the Beach tower (at the opposite end of the resort) was open - made our way over there to find the sign saying they should be open but nobody there. Went to the front desk at the Beach Towers to be told by the lady working to go and see if there was anyone in their office. Visited the office to find it unlocked, but no one there. Another time, called to find out what was served in the movie theater as far as dinner went, told they had food for dinner. Arrived to find hot dogs they warmed up in the microwave and candy at $0.80/ounce. You should have seen my sister's face when her kids got $27 worth of candy in two small bags....priceless.
-> Surly wait staff. Sad to say because this was not our experience last time but so many of the staff helping at the various food kiosks and restaurants were not friendly, did not even attempt a smile and at times were outright rude. Disappointing, I know it's very indulgent to be at the resort, but I've worked hard and decided to spend my hard earned money in your country - is it too much to ask for a smile or a thank you even if I don't give you more than the automatic gratuity?
-> Restaurant reservations: On two separate occasions we made reservations in advance, arrived at the restaurant only to be told they did not have the reservation. Went so far at Carmines (Italian) that the Manager called my sister a liar and said we were trying to get something for free.

So, in conclusion we enjoyed our once in a lifetime trip to Atlantis but after analyzing the costs associated do not see the value in making the long trip there. Will be interesting to see what happens when the new resort opens on December 25, 2014.

Room Tip: The higher up the better view.

Our room was amazing. The staff and service was excellent. We had a wonderful view of the ocean. There is nothing bad about this place and we hope to go back next year. The only thing that I wasn't crazy about was the loud music at the "Cain at the Cove" pool. If you want to go drink alcohol and listen to hip hop/rap music loudly, then this is your place. I went there to enjoy the beautiful landscape and relax. The beach is just a few steps away and is absolutely beautiful. I don't know the cost of the room because it was paid for by my husband's job. There is plenty to do there. We stayed for 3 nights, but I'd like to stay there longer.
