“Loved the Cove!”

We travelled to the Bahamas in April 2010. We stayed on the Club Floor in a Deluxe Ocean View Suite. We had 2 Queen Beds and a hide-a-way bed. We were very impressed with the room, the view, the bathroom (well-appointed). What made our trip, was the amazing staff in the concierge lounge. From Jarald (SP?) who welcomed us, to the wondeful ladies who couldn't do enough to help our daughter when she had some tummy troubles, this staff was the best. THis is what serviced is all about. . I should mention that it was a busy week at Atlantis, but at no time in the lounge did we feel rushed or crowded. It was great to grab a coffee or a soda at any time of the day.

The waterpark speaks for itself. We all had a blast. Grounds are clean and well-maintained.

I recommend making dining reservations well in advance of your travel dates. We did, and never had a problem We enjoyed Mesa Grill, Mosiac, Nobu (not at much as our first visit, however) , Carmines, Bimini Road. We had our breakfast and evening noshes on the club floor, so this meant we were not lining up for the breakfast buffets.

For transportation to and from the airport, we used Sandra from Fergie's taxi. Prompt, reasonable rates, and a great documentary on island history and gossip on the ride.

We enjoyed our stay so much that we are again booked in the same room category for next Easter. Again, thank you to the outstanding staff on the club floor.

We stayed for the week, right before Veteran's day.
We choose this property because it was advertised as kids-free, adult sophisticated atmosfere and overall elegant stay.
We have three kids at home, so to be in a quite adult-only setting was exactly what we were looking for. HA!!!
Kids were jumping on and off the elevator, screaming in the hallways, and parents as usuall, were doing nothing.
Breakfast - bufet - is awfully crowded. Skip it - if you cannot tolerate airport-like lines and children rolling on the floor .
Go to Starbucks.
The only oasis was the Cain pool. It is good indeed. Service is great. Not cheap, but this is the only place to escape that insanity with children. In fact, they can double the prices - people will go there anyway - just because this is the only couples only place. Don't expect much from the front desk - they are not friendly. But the lower level service personnel are quite good natured overall. And remember - it is union shop mentality there. Noone needs your tips, they are included already in every single check.

This is something like a police state and the management struggles to keep a cap on the crime. $800 was stolen from my room from my wallet 5 feet from my head. The reaction so management was to treat me like I was a pest. Indeed, I was intimidated by the private police force for wanting something to happen. A friend was proposition by prostitutes while he was walking with two ice cream cones -- one for his wife. The meal plan restaurants are about cafeteria quality.

I have been going to the Bahamas for about 25 years, have family from there and know the islands very well. We in fact own a condo at the reef and usually stay there. Recently during a trip it was unavailable and we decided to stay at the Cove instead. After my experience there I finally felt it was time to write a review. Being a pseudo-local I am fortunate to know many Bahamians well and always love their company. Unfortunately the staff at Atlantis does not live up to the local standards of friendliness, by a long shot, and its a shame. Most staff you pass by in hallways, by the pool, at the restaurants won't even look at you. At the Cain pool bar service takes eons to get and the food is barely mediocre. Room service is just disgusting, avoid the duck soup at all costs. The tables at even the $100 tables are hit and miss, great one minute then they switch to the ice queen whether you're winning or losing. Some constancy and training from management would be nice. The facilities like the lazy river and slides are fantastic if you can turn an eye to the yet again rude staff too busy trying to chat up clearly underage female guests. I've come to deduce that the flaws with Atlantis come from lack of management and training especially since the recession has hit there hard it is apparent. Hopefully they get the point before its too late.

My best advise is to prepare yourself to be shocked by the bill at checkout. Other people have wrote about it here, but it really is amazing how much $$ they add in charges. For me, it was over $100 per night, plus some extra charges like tips for the bell hop I never used.

I certainly won't be returning.

I have just returned from my 4 night stay at The Cove at Atlantis. While the hotel is very beautiful and the room (delux suite) was elegant and luxurious, the overall experience at Atlantis was a bust. This is because after you pay out the nose for your fancy room at the hotel, you are nickeled and dimed from left to right for the rest of your stay. You are charged a $12 maid charge for every day you are there, you are charged a bellhop fee up on your arrival even if you have no luggage with you ( like me because my luggage was lost). If you go to the pool, you are charged $12 every time, if you get towels for the pool, you are charged, if you want to use the internet in your room or the exercise room on site, you are charged a fee. Your room charge does not include any amenity on the property. Moreover, if you want to have lunch, you're out of luck. Most of the restaurants that are worth a damn are only open for dinner leaving you to only the buffet which was $51 for only 2 people to eat and the greasy cheeseburgers and fries by the pools which ran us $48 for 2 people. This place is such a racket! Finally, it is a beach resort right? So you 'd think you could have a drink at one of the pool bars in the evening but no, they all close at 5:00 leaving you with 2 bars to choose from, both of them inside with no veiw of the ocean, DO NOT try to enjoy the islands at this place. If you want to really enjoy the islands or the tropics, go somewhere else unless you want to be overcharged into bankruptcy for bad, snarky service and less than mediocre food.

We were on a 4 day 3 night business trip and I was pleasantly surpriseed by how easy it is to get to Nassau and how friendly the people were from the momment we arrived. We stayed at the Cove and frankly I was blown away by the service and facilities. The rooms ar fabulous, food was excelent and the staff very friendly and engaging. I would definitely go back on a leisure trip.
