“A great vacation but .....”
Reviewed 26 December 2013 via mobile

We had a wonderful time at Atlantis. Overall it is an amazing place. The Water-park is wonderful and the aquariums more than beautiful. Here comes the but !!! The hotel needs some renovation and the cleaning service is very slow if they show up at all. In 2 out of 5 days we had no cleaning service at all. We got new towels after we asked for it, but that's all. That was disappointing taking into consideration the price you have to pay for he room. You have plenty of possibilities for food but keep in mind everything is a little more expensive, buffet breakfast is $30 per person, dinner is between $70 and $90. But again you know that before you go.

When you book the hotel, they give you a grand total and take a deposit. The day you go to check out suddenly you are paying way more than your quoted grand total. Daily charges for maid service & pool service, electricity, random gratuity, bell boy gratuity, etc regardless of whether these services are used or not. $150/day is suddenly over $250/day. There are bugs in the bed. Coral towers is nothing special. Ordinary rooms. They promise you ocean view when you book and when you arrive, all the ocean view rooms are taken. Lame! We were there for a wedding. 70+ people. This is an absolute rip off and a scam. They should be up front about all charges so we could've budgeted accordingly. Ending your vacation this way leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

We had a fantastic vacation! No complaints at all! We were upgraded from Beach Towers to Coral Towers. Beach towers was closed due to low occupancy between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Coral Towers was close to everything! The room was comfortable. Nothing fancy. We were on a higher floor, so we had a nice view of the ocean. We LOVED the water park and pools (Aquaventure is included with the room). Much better than if you were on a cruise and just coming for the day. We liked the part of the day best when the cruise ships were gone and we had the whole park to ourselves! The pools were gorgeous. With so many of them, they were never crowed. Our kids (7 and 9) had a fantastic time. We did a reef snorkel. Amazing! One day were were able to snorkel in the lagoon and saw a lionfish (other days closed due to jellyfish). The beach was clean and amazing! Very relaxing. Every night we visited the Dig and saw new things! Rooms were nothing fancy, but no complaints. They used to have mini bars. They stopped doing that, and the fridges don't work. They brought in a fridge for us, and did not charge us. We bought water just outside of Atlantis (near the Dunkin' Donuts) and filled our water bottles with cold water every day. Food was expensive, but we expected that. The staff was ALL so nice and so accommodating! ...Overall, fantastic vacation! Great escape from the cold!

My family stayed in Coral Tower in 2013 December. We have a 6-year old and a 3-year old. They really loved everything Atlantis has to offer, including the many lagoons with all sorts of ocean animals, the dig, lazy river (my 3-year-old's favorite), the kiddy pools, the beautiful white beach and warm green ocean, and many many more. My 6-year-old loved the rapid current. She was overthrown from the tube by the big wave but still loved it. My wife and I enjoyed the thrill of power tower.

The Coral Tower was at the quieter side of the big resort. Our room was on the 9th floor facing the ocean, overlooking the lazy river. We found it's very peaceful and relaxing. The room itself was a bit small, but we didn't stay in the room that much anyway.

The only complaint was our flight was delayed by a huge snowstorm in Boston, so we didn't get to check in the first night. When we talked to the front desk, they didn't show any interest to try to help us out by waiving the first night charge or extending our stay for one extra night.

Room Tip: Staying on the 9th floor has good view and is quiet.

Stayed at Coral Towers, Dec 5th, 2013. Early checkin was not available so we had to wait a couple hours for our room. When we finally got it, we went in and there was already someone in there! That person was understandably upset. So then we got another room. The room was a good size, but very very dated. The fridge leaked all over the floor because they shut it off and it melted (as we didn't pay fee for fridge). Also don't generally like hotels that don't have free wifi like atlantis. Library computers didn't work well, and wouldn't print either. We wanted to go to the Italian restaurant, but it was closed the whole time we were there. Overall the resort is OK, but it's certainly nothing special by any means.

We stayed at the Coral Towers Villas, Flamingo Villa, Rooms 2463, 2464 and 2466 from December 10 until December 17, 2013. When we first entered 2463, we smelled a chemical cleaner smell, but we figured that was a good thing. We all noticed the rooms weren't that clean. In 2463, there was food stuck to the wooden chairs and the side table had some dirt on it. We cleaned up ourselves with anti-bacterial wipes. Neither of the fridges worked and the front door stuck badly when you tried to open it. One day, we had no water until the afternoon, and when it did come on, it ran brown. We could have lived with all of that, but after a few days I noticed small, very itchy mosquito bites on my wrists and ankles. I thought they might be sand flea bites from the beach. A few days into the vacation, the maid told my sister he had to change the sheets, but did not say why. That should have alerted us, but unfortunately we didn't think much of it. A day after we returned home, I realized we had bed bugs. I am affected the most out of the six of us. I have about 50 bites, on my face, legs, arms and stomach. Now we have to go through the expensive and time-consuming process of fumigating our homes. I believe that the staff at Atlantis were aware of the bed bug issue and did nothing to prevent us from bringing the bugs home. Instead of preparing for Christmas, I am dealing with bed bugs. I wish we had never gone on this vacation.

Room Tip: Pull off the sheets and check the mattress before you bring your luggage in the door.

The resort was wonderful. I would give it 4.5-5 stars. The rooms in Coral Towers themselves are more like a 2-3 star. They smelled mildewy, moldy and are straight out of the 1980's era. This tower was central to the resort property though and very close. Beds were super comfortable, pillows were great. The water pressure in the shower was really low. We had pre-purchased a meal plan (value one) prior to coming and they forgot to add it at check-in; so were billed at check out for all of our meals and it took 30 minutes to get it corrected. We had a waterview technically- it was way off and you had to stretch really far to the left of the balcony to see a little slice of the ocean, but mostly we were looking out over the Beach Towers. However, we didn't pay for a waterview, we were given an "upgrade" upon arrival. The library is within this tower, which was convenient for accessing the internet (free for 20 minutes per day with your room card). Also convenient for walking to the Royal Towers without having to go outside.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors. We were on 7th - I would recommend something higher
