Had a great time. Food at the hotel was over priced. Across the street at the marina the prices are more reasonable. The park atmosphere was great and I would recommend it to all. The waterslides were awesome.

In the end my kids had a great vacation and so did the parents (likely because refused to pay $30 per day for slow internet service so I didn't work the whole time!).

The trip started off rocky with a 75 minute wait in line to be checked in to only be told they did not have a room for us (2 room unit at Harborside resort). They were "upgrading us" to the Coral Tower which was a more expensive room but in the end a hotel room with stove top and microwave. We would have preferred the two bedroom but the Coral is your standard 3.5 star hotel room.

Like Disney they hold you captive and charge you outrageous prices for everything. $7 for a $2 smart water, $9 per beer, $80 for a $20 bottle of Absolut, you get the picture. So plan on taking a cab for $40 across the bridge from paradise island to stock up on the grocery and liquor stores. Everything there was about on par with US prices. Beer, fruit, snacks etc.

Overall the service was just OK. Since tips are included in everything (and additional gratitiuties are expected) no one goes out of their way to provide exceptional service as you would expect of a resort that bills itself as a world class resort. If you want Starbucks plan on spending a painful amount of time in line.

The best part was the beach outside of the coral tower was not crowded and we spent 3-4 hours every day snorkeling right off the beach. About 60 different kinds of fish, pods of squid, stingrays, garfish, barracuda. All there. We had a great time and this made the entire stay worth it. It was tough to get the kids out of the water every day.

We also snorkeled the Ruins which was awesome (albiet a bit overpriced) and the Shallow water dolphin experience. I would recommend the deepwater expeirence for nay families with kids over 5-8. While fun I could not help but to think about the documentary Blackfish, but the dolphins seemed well cared for and healthy.

We planned on spending time in the water park but in the end was only there about 3 hours for our 5 day stay. The kids were OK with that. Make sure you hit the slides that go through the shark tank and they likely have the best lazy river (rapids) I have been on. The resort is well laid out and everything is accessible. It is aging a bit going on 20 years but that is to be expected.

I think they will have to lower their prices when the new $4B resort opens 20 minutes away in December which will provide somehat of a correction to their inflated prices. Overall I would go back at 50% of the published rates that we paid when were there.

Room Tip: Coral and Reef Towers have stunning views of the beach.

As far as pools, water slides and water activities go, this is the BEST hotel I've ever stayed at! It has so much to offer that you can't possibly be bored.

That said, there are also some major drawbacks. The hotel is huge and can get very overcrowded in peak season. You have to fight to find pool/beach chairs many times. In addition, the hotel sells "day passes" to cruise ship passengers docked in Nassau, so there is an influx of additional people EVERYDAY. If it happens to rain, you are stuck inside like a sardine with thousands of other people.

You also have to watch out for the food. Due to the small children in our party, we were on the budget meal plan which only allows access to certain dining options (still not cheap by any means). We found moldy bread being served in one buffet restaurant and almost served it to our toddler son. Also, there are only 2 buffet restaurants available. We learned they have a tendency to shut down one without notice, leaving an overflow of people at the other...making it very difficult to get a table.

Lastly, the rooms could stand an update in the Coral Tower. Our group had 4 adjoining rooms and each one had a problem. One room had a non-functioning TV. Despite several reports to management, it was never fixed and we were there for an entire week.

I want to start off saying, The Atlantis is very overated. I've traveled to the Bahamas several times and i will never stay at this Property again. Check in was terrible and very rude front desk staff. Alot of misc "taxes and fees" were added that was not explained at check in. There was 15 percent gratuity added to all meal taxes. The "resort" gears towards kids and the pool closes early. NOT GOOD. The casino was a rip off. This was my worst Bahamas experience. i will be staying back on Cable beach in the future. Looking foward to the New hotel. Hopefully they will have staff take "customer service" classes. It took the "repair man" 3 hours to fix the leaking refrigerator.

At the last moment I requested and paid for an upgrade from the Beach Tower to the Coral Tower with an ocean view. Never having been to Atlantis with my family before, I had no idea what to expect. On arrival, I didn't want to fuss. I was tired and, with family eager to settle in, I accepted the 8th floor rooms with partial ocean view. The rooms smelled musty, and were on the shabby side. I didn't do any investigation of rooms at Royal Towers or at Beach, but I was really disappointed in the Coral Towers and can't imagine it was an upgrade from Beach.

I'll review the other facilities separately, so please regard this as a hotel review only.

My wife and I finally figured out why they have such a huge tv commercial. A place this big should sell itself. The reasons are numerous, lets start with that once you go you will not be back and wont recommend it to anyone else. The over pricing was anticipated, but the poor service, rudeness and disrespect from the staff was inexcusable. We felt like we were paying to be abused. There was a very rare staff person that was friendly or looked that they weren't being forced and tortured in working there. The disappointing experience left a sour taste in our mouth. We were there for 6 long days and could not wait to get back home, We hope you do not ignore the bad reviews we also read and thought it was an exaggeration. It is unfortunate to spend that much time money and effort to go there and have the staff ruin your experience. Go some where else where you will feel welcome and appreciated for spending your hard earned money. if you make the mistake of going, take a cab to and from airport, we used Dan Knowles and it was late, no air conditioning, and to top it off the fan was leaking water on us, absolutely disgusting!!! The whole experience was sad. Beware of where you are going and the value of your time and money

Room Tip: coral towers has a stong stench of cigarretts

I just spent 5 nights in the Coral Towers with my husband and 9 year old daughter. If your children love pools, waterparks, and beaches this place is heaven! This was my second trip to Atlantis both of which were excellent. I read reviews for months leading up to this trip and really started to become nervous after some of the negative comments. NONE of these held any real weight.
We found the service to be great. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Always had questions answered politely. Housekeeping was especially friendly. Our room was as expected. Older and dated, but clean and nice. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. Room was cleaned very well each day. Wr were on the 9th floor facing the stingray lagoon, pools, and ocean. Amazing view. We had previously stayed in the Royal Towers years ago and yes those rooms and location are nicer than the Coral Towers but not necessarily worth the extra dollars if you have kids.
We brought breakfast foods and snacks from home so we didn't have to spend a lot of money on breakfast or lunch. I definitely recommend bringing whatever you can from home. Also - walk across the street (where the Dunkin Donuts is) and purchase some large water bottles or drinks there. Much cheaper. And the refrigerator in the room is free. The food we did eat around the pools for lunch was pretty much as expected - slightly overpriced but not insane like some people have posted. The chicken Caesar wraps are very good.
The pools and grounds were very clean and well maintained. People who complain about things being rundown must walk around with a magnifying glass. Everything was clean. Outdoor bathrooms were constantly being cleaned and were very nice. I will agree that the ground around the pools and slides does get VERY hot and can also be VERY slippery. Be careful.
The Current (non lazy river) is awesome. We spent hours in there. Although it was crowded we didn't find any one spot or attraction to be too crowded. There is always a quieter spot to be found. The pool at the Beach Tower was very quiet and nearly empty yet very nice.
Our best meal was at Carmine's at the Marina - and contrary to other reviews we only spent $84 there and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the Marina and the Ben and Jerry's!
Pictures and words really don't do the Atlantis justice. The designers and architects created an outdoor oasis that is beautiful. The aquariums are amazing and so fun to walk through. The water slides provide endless entertainment. At the end of the trip my daughter said she would rather go back to Atlantis than return to Disney World!
