Everything about this hotel is about how to milk the customer, saying it nicely! Service, forget it, their attitude is you are stuck here so deal with it. Yes, paradise island is nice, but stay away from this hotel, prices are super high even for rich people, service is not good and food quality is bad.

I would defiantly recommend staying here. It is one of the nicest places I've ever been to. I found no problems, except I do not like the Point Restaurant. Horrible service, food and live music there. All other restaurants are great, especially Mosaic, Mesa Grill and Cafe Martinique. The Reef private beach and pool are much nicer than the beach on the other side of the resort. The aquaventure waterpark can provide fun for at least five days or more for children and adults. Wonderful snorkeling, we did Snorkel the Ruins and an excursion and both were awesome. Dolphin Cay is a little expensive, I suggest the deep-water swim. It is worth doing. Dining can also get expensive, so in order to save money the meal plan is a great investment. You get what you pay for, the food is wonderful. Rooms are comfortable and the resort is kept very clean.

We stayed here for 10 days with our 4 kids and another couple with 2 kids. There was always plenty to do and the food was good. We have scheduled to return Christmas of this year, it was that good. We are taking some extended family this time and looking forward to it.

Negatives- Initially, we had some trouble with the rooms they put us in and how they were connected, etc. But, we were able to work it out and even get a refund when we opted out of the extra room. Also, the food was good but, the food was only Average, we were able to eat but, it was not 5 star, maybe a 3 or 4, my bf rates them 4 but, this is rating the buffets.Which we enjoyed the one at Secrets tower most, ate there most often (distance from hotel was main reason). Then we tried the buffet in the Royal Towers, was very good also. The pool side huts were nothing to rave about. The best one we enjoyed was the Breakwaters grill with the bar right beside it. The DJ was right beside there so it was very loud, not recommended to sit at the tables by there, due to the volume.
The worst outside snack hut was by the Splashers Kids pools, Splashers snacks. The food was terrible and the fly's were worse. It doesn't take much to hang a clear bag of water with a penny in it.

We had a full kitchen in the larger suite and we ordered food online, it was delivered to the hotel at a designated time. Our friends had theirs waiting when we arrived. I ordered ours when we got there and had to wait until after the weekend for delivery. So, order your groceries ahead of time, fyi.
Milk, bread, PB & J, lunch meat, gatorades, waters, snacks for the kids, cheez-its, popcorn, fruit snacks, etc. those were a real life saver. We took a collapsable cooler (easy to pack) and took it to the beach or pool.
Also, it is expensive once inside. The swimming with Dolphins, the Junior ultimate trainer, we had fun but it was pricey. The website online is informative but, best once you've booked your trip you get more details. Good idea to plan ahead and book the "obstacle course" for the kids as far in advance and early in your trip, that was if weather is not good that day, they try to reschedule the next day and the next, our kids ended up missing it completely because of the weather.
We visited the Dig Night & day time, worth it both times. A different perspective both times.
We preferred the beach by the Reef, just nicer coral to snorkel and easy to collect pretty shells, less crowded, the chairs were nicer. This ended up being our 'home base' for the trip or a certain spot by the big pool.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite which had a nicely appointed kitchen equipped with fairly large stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, sink and a 4 burner cooktop. There were cooking utensils available and china stocked in the cabinets meant for 4 persons.
The kingsize bed was a bit too firm for us but the pullout sofa bed was comfortable as compared to most sofa beds.the bathrooms were large and very comfortable for a family of four. Everything was in good condition except the furniture was clunky and outdated. We managed to cook meals and ate dinner indoors after shopping at the local supermarkets on the main island in Nassau. One can take a cab to supervalue on Mackey street and buy all the essential ingredients and it is cheaper than eating at the restaurants located in the hotel area.
The pool area is very well kept but the poolside restaurant has cats roaming in the area .We thought it was unsanitary to have cats in the vicinity of the pool. They scared the little children.
We ate one night at the Mosaic. Our bill was around $700 for a party of 6 adults and 2 children....ridiculously expensive!!
The best part of the trip were the housekeeping staff who were always willing to help and the porters. The front desk was very slow.
If the prices are better and the cats are out of the pool area, we will visit again. BTW this was our third trip to the Reef! This hotel has one of the best beaches on this island and the water is simply amazing!

Room Tip: Book a Harbour front corner unit. The view is simply amazing!!

Upon arriving at The Reef at the Atlantis, we found that we had a problem with our reservations. Christopher Minnis at the front desk was a savior. It was a stressful situation with our third party booking but he handled the situation with class. I have not had better service from the front desk and bell staff at Ritz Carlton class hotels. We had a wonderful room overlooking the ocean. Absolutely beautiful view. The waterpark is fun for the kids and although it is large - it is not too overwhelming. Our 12 year old son was lucky enough to make friends with a Bahamian family and they tore up the slides. All of the staff at the resort were helpful and considerate. The food is expensive - no doubt but frankly it is not out of line with Disney World. The shuttle bus to the other side of the resort was extremely helpful. The beach is not 5 star and we have certainly experienced superior beach experiences. However, the fun of the waterpark is hard to beat with the kids. Once the cruise ships sail, it is easy to get to all of the rides. I found that it was not as crowded as much as I thought it would be.

After reading scores of reviews I thought I would add my two cents to families traveling with kids. We have girls ages 7 and 9. To add perspective we live on a resort island and would not of been here except for our kids and the water park. Also I was relieved not to be going to Disney. We chose the Reef because we knew from previous experience and were reminded from others just how ridiculously expensive the food and beverage options were at Atlantis. After two hours in customs finally made it the front dest only to have to wait another 50 minutes while the staff slowly helped the 4 check ins ahead of us. I was ready to check out before ever checking in. Fortunately the head concierge recognized that this was unacceptable right as I got to the counter and upgraded us to the one bedroom 2bath suite ground level that was very large and comfortable. View was bit important to us.This greatly changed the whole family demeanor. The kitchen was well appointed. We had stopped by the supermarket and spent $250 (we used Cheryl's taxi definitely recommend). My wife thought I was being excessive however later on she understood. Even if you leave half of your groceries behind as we did you will still be ahead of the game. It is one thing to spend $500 a night on a nice suite , but $120 for a really ordinary snack bar lunch is something that is painful. We travel annually to the out islands and are no stranger to the costs associated with drinking and dining in the Bahamas. Unless you are one of the lucky few where 10k budget for f and b on your week holiday is no big deal then groceries for snacks beverages breakfasts etc is key. Additionally there is no food service at the Reef except a Starbucks. Bahamian people are wonderful warm and friendly especially inside this shiny resort. Surprisingly we had no towels linens for pull out couch or tv remotes. After a couple of calls my wife set out and secured the items. The following day proper tipping to staff ensured we were well stocked for the remainder of our stay. I am told by successful Bahamians that tipping is frowned upon. They either are used to poor service or they don't mind having it included . Don't be fooled if you want proper service staff will go out of their way if you tip first ie pool attendant housekeeping etc The servers bartenders have their grat included so they will do there best to up sell. Even if you didn't ask or order it. I am sure they are used to all the cheap Americans that really think that tipping is not necessary. Do not waste your money on the Kids Eat Free Promotion unless you are going to frequent the buffet restaurants. Some of the restaurants advertised as part of promotion are unknown to the restaurants themselves. The Water park is spectacular as advertised and very clean. However this is not managed ala Disney. The kids camp is excellent and good value. We went early and late to the water park and missed the Cruise ship day trippers. We were never able to do the Adventure-land obstacle course. It was either full or closed, which was disappointing. The Lazy River is really more like rapids and I can't help but think about all the non-swimmers getting in that have no clue what they are in for. The golf course is amazing and worth the $200 greens fees ( off season). The pools beaches and overall facilities are very clean. Whether the resort being recently sold has anything to with some of the glitches we experienced I don't know. Our kids really loved the overall experience. All in all my wife and I were quite happy and especially happy that the kids were thrilled.

My family of four stayed in the King junior suite. Not our choice. I had booked a 1 BR premium unit and was given the junior suite as a "comp" due to a power outage. Note the bathroom is surrounded by frosted glass including a large open frosted window to the unit. Perhaps great for a romantic weekend for two; for a family of four with teenagers not suitable in terms of privacy or comparable at all. The galley kitchenette is incredilbly efficient, dishwasher, microwave, sink, fridge all in one. The Paradise beach is nice. Similar to the Cover beach; however each chair provides cover from the sun. Seems like the Cove provides more benefits as a hotel.
