“Best "on the beach" vacation ever”
Reviewed 1 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

You have seen the pictures and read the description. It is completely accurate despite recovering from Hurricane Mathew when we visited on Xmas 2016.

This house is unusual in many respects. The quality built by a Canadian Contractor is obvious as is the perfect vacation floorplan.

It is ideal for 10 people and each bedroom has a real spacious bathroom ensuite. All away from the main living area for privacy and separation of sleeping and living quarters and with individual climate controls.

The floorplan and pictures don’t do full justice to the size and scale of the living room with it’s lofty 20’ ceilings.

The South facing series of 4 patio doors with the side doors leading to two enclosed screened porches on the East and West sides of the house is a literal wall of glass facing the beautiful open views to the beach.

The covered patio just outside the living area is great outdoor gathering space, rain or shine.

We saw a couple of people walking towards us on the beach nearby on our second day, but they left after about 10 minutes. Otherwise we had the long white sand beach to ourselves.

The gradual slope into the water is perfect for children or non-Swimmers. We arrived on a windy day that was quite rough out to sea and yet the sea was gentle near the shore.

The owners included an apology for some cosmetic deficiencies from hurricane Mathew, but there was nothing to spoil our stay.

We have owned property in the Bahamas in the past and we have never seen one of this quality and perfect private location on the beach.

It is 30 minutes to Freeport, but the distance provides the complete privacy that is the amazing aspect of the location.

Importantly, you are only 10 minutes from Bishop's Bar, the quintessential Bahamian Beach Bar. (see Trip advisor review)

Thanks for the review! We bought in this location because of the privacy and the beach. For us, that's what a vacation is for. Getting away from it all and relaxing with family and friends.

I can't say enough about how luxurious and relaxing this home is. Cool marble floors and soaring high ceilings, caribbean decor that is beautiful, informal and comfortable. Large bedrooms with ensuites for privacy. Open kitchen so everyone can join in meal prep. Our girlfriend's getaway was just so relaxing. We spent every day on the beach and ended our days in the screened porch with dinner and drinks, watching the sunsets. A few day trips and excursions to sample the local cuisine and see the sites rounded out our week. We just had such a great time and would love to go back. I highly recommend this place.

I have stayed at this home, with my family, a few times. I am always blown away by the home and the beautiful beach. A nice addition, this time, was the screened in porches on the ocean side of the home. I enjoyed my morning coffee and crossword puzzle, in the peaceful surroundings. Each day we would spend some time down at the beach, in the tiki hut or on the lounge chairs, and had a refreshing dip in the ocean. We had a lot of fun, at the Market, and tried a few different restaurants. We would love to go back again.

Absolutely Spectacular! Would go again in a minute. The home was spacious and had everything you could ask for. The Beach area was beautiful and even had a shade structure if the sun got too hot for you. We mostly did our sight seeing's in the morning and then relaxed on the beach in the afternoon. Nightly scrolls along the beach at night was enchanting. Regarding excursions, check out the Dolphin Experience, one of my personal favourites, also the Port Lucaya Marketplace was awesome (have lunch at Zorba's). Also check out Garden of the Groves and there is Lucayan National Park to explore. After all the sights, you are back to the Best Vacation Rental ever, The Home is spectacular and the Beach holds it own. Afternoons are time for relaxing............ This is a truly electrifying experience. Everyone deserves this for themselves. Enjoy...............

“Really Great Location-, But...”

This is a gorgeous Caribbean house with private beachfront. The setting and the water are spectacular, really everything you would want in a tropical beachfront locale. There are however a couple of things to take into consideration when considering this property. First, it is a long way from Freeport and there is pretty much nothing around in the area of the house. So plan ahead and make sure you bring lots of provisions with you from the town.

Second, and frankly this probably be first, bring LOTS and LOTS of bug spray and bug wipes. There is no problem at all during the day, but at night it is open season for biting bugs and if you want to be outside or down on the beach this is an absolute must. We ended up going through about a can person per day and bought out the tiny store down the street after a couple of days.

The other inconvenience was there is no ice maker in the fridge and being 30 miles from town makes this a challenge to manage in a steaming hot tropical environment. For such a premium property, this puts a crimp in the stay.

By all means go to Bishops restaurant/bar right up the road for lunch, dinner and/or drinks. It is a cool little beachfront property, nice people, reasonable prices and decent food. It's really the only thing around without having to go to back into Freeport.

Also, do not miss the beach at Lucayan National Park. Pack lunches and drinks (lots) and spend the day there. The beach is truly spectacular and it is five minutes from the house.

We have rented several Caribbean houses over the years and this is at the top of the list. With a little logistical planning, and a lot of bug spray, you will have a great time here.

We have screened in the porches to allow visitors to enjoy the balmy tropical nights - pest free. :-) There is a long table in one so dining al fresco in the evening watching the sunset is a treat.

“Wonderful ”
Reviewed 29 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We had an absolute blast at this house. It had everything we needed. The beach was fabulous. Everything they said was true. Extremely nice people to work with. We are planning the next trip for 2016! The only complaint was the air conditioning and humidity in the house. The living room/kitchen was hot and humid. The bedrooms were freezing cold and humid/sticky! But didn't bring our week down at all!!!

“Great Time Had By All !”
Reviewed 22 April 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Our family of 9, including teen age grand kids, had a really fun week at the Goodfellow house. It is large, spacious with high ceilings, lots of open space. The house is located out in the boondocks and there is nothing really around there. Each room had its own bath which was great; master bed and bath was very large and comfortable. It;s right on the beach but you have to watch the time of the tides cause there are a lot of rocks. About an hour after high tide you can walk over the rocks and get to the sand and then you have a couple of hours before the tide comes back in to cover the rocks. There are miles of beach stretching away to the east which are great to walk on, swim, etc but not for snorkeling as there is nothing to see down there. The house has great wifi and free phone to the US

WE were welcomed by Patricia who showed us around and arranged for one of her staff, Toya Moxey, to cook us a Bahamian dinner the nite of our arrival. Which was pretty good and reasonable, took the pressure off to prepare dinner. Did our big shopping the next day at Solomon's, mostly stuff for breakfast and lunch. Made burgers and chicken one nite but the products are not very good...tough chicken and strange ground meat.

The owner had recommended Doris's at High Rock, which is further down the road than shown on his map. This is a shack on the beach but would only recommend for drinks as they food was terrible...too spicy and the burgers were made of some mystery meat. Had a great lunch at Sabor's overlooking the marina in Port Lucaya....food and outdoor setting very enjoyable...located next to Unesco. Also went snorkeling with Pat & Diane's tour. A larger boat, fun crew however the snorkeling over the reef was so-so, not as good as expected.

Contacted Billy Humes and arranged fishing trip way out east off of Pelican point. Very simple but good and everyone caught fish! Another 2 nights we brought in a chef, Brittney Minnis, who made great meas for us but it was quite expensive, though we didn't have to shlep back into town. A good idea is to contact Hida Ingraham at experiencegrandbahamisland.com and she is very helpful in arranging all kinds of activities.

On the last nite we went to Pier 1 right on Freeport Harbor. Be sure to reserve and ask for an outside table. Of all things we had sushi which everyone really liked. Their big attraction is a shark feeding every hour but that was underwhelming..

Also, look up Adagio Art Studio at delfoxton.com. She is a very interesting artist, lives down the road from the house and will welcome you into her studio.

All in all a good time had for everyone and very relaxing for hard working students and their parents!
