Blue Marlin Cove
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We had a nice stay at Blue Marlin Cove but were disappointed at the lack of offerings available in comparison to what the website shows.

Obviously using stock photos to build there site there was absolutely no sunset view and not much of a beach at all. It's new but the newness of the rooms does not match the overall property. If I was just going with the guys for fishing this is the place, if you're taking the girls along expecting a resort experience find another place.

These guys hit the nail on the head when they designed the perfect 5 star fishing lodge. Every convenience and detail has been thought of for both the AVID fisherman (prinstine docks and fish cleaning stations; fully loaded, spacious condo kitchens with sparkling, modern appliances); as well as for those who are "not" (us!). There are lots of extra amenities (dockside/poolside bar, swimming pool with hot tub; lounge chairs and hammocks, rooms luxuriously appointed). Everything is new, clean; top of the line. But, mostly, it's the gold star customer service that makes all of the difference. I'm on vacation! If you prefer to trust your catch with a pro, the on-site restaurant will do all of the cooking, serving and cleaning for you; and Nellie's cooking did impress! (Besides our fish dinner, we also enjoyed her breakfasts!) Treason, the night manager, was awesome! He was always RIGHT there, helping us to get whatever provisions or supplies we needed. He even arranged for a rental car to be delivered to us. Sandra, the concierge, gave excellent tips for things "to-do"; as my husband and son are the fisherman, and my daughter and I are the "not"! :) And, Lewis, the general manager, lined up the fishing charter trip for us. This is a great place to come for a "guys trip", a family vacation, or even a large group of friends, multi-family adventure. You can have a great time NEVER leaving the complex. If you DO want to venture into Lucaya for shopping/nightlife or casino, you will need a car (or rely on taxi). The dockside beach on site is small; so if you want to spend a "beach day" doing the banana boat, jet ski, catamaran "thing", I recommend taking advantage of the "Our Lucaya" day pass at the Grand Lucaya Hotel, where we spent one afternoon. Have a great time!
