“Pelican Bay was a pleasant surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here over Easter break this year in April. It was our first time in the Bahamas for my husband and I and our 6-year old. We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Our room overlooked the infinity pool with a nice size balcony (we rented a stateroom) It was nice to have the breakfast treats and paper delivered to your room every morning. The room was clean and spacious with a great view. Our favorite pool was the Sabor pool, we visited there every day during our stay, and had dinner there one night. And the location can't be beat! Right near Unexsco and the outdoor cafe. Also, they have a boat that takes you to the Taino beach.

Room Tip: We loved the stateroom

The hotel is quiet, cozy and comfortable. The views are great the rooms are clean and the property is clean. The staff is courteous and kind. The location is perfect! The experience was enjoyable and memorable.

I would, however, stay away from their restaurant, Sabor, it is overpriced. Eat at Zorbas, next door, in the Port Lucaya marketplace. The breakfast is $19 per person which is a rip off.

I had a lot of fun there and would defiantly be back. It is the perfect hotel if you want to lay low and have a quiet and relaxing time. Other resorts on the island are a little nosier and busier.

This is an ideal getaway spot for a week or weekend of relaxation. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly. The front desk personnel know their repeat visitors, and literally welcome them with open arms!

Our group had booked a week at Pelican Bay for the end of August that was cut short by Hurricane Irene. We stayed in a suite on the second floor with a small view (between the trees) of the canal. The suite was large and clean with a nice mini kitchen equipped with mini frig, microwave, and a few dishes. We had many small maintenance issues for the three days were there but I must say the front desk acted immediately and someone was there to make repairs within minutes. The front desk was also helpful when it came time to evacuate before Irene. It is a relatively large resort but the way it was designed makes it feel small and personal. They have three pools so none of them feel crowded. There was a small pool with a bar (bar was closed) behind our suite and our small group were the only ones there, it was nice place to relax after a long day of diving. The hotel less than a block from the Lucaya Marketplace and you have access to a beautiful white sand beach across the street. I would go back outside of hurricane season!!

Pelican Bay is a lovely, stylish hotel in Freeport. As soon as you walk into Reception you feel relaxed. With small pools dotted around the complex and a river taxi that takes you to a private hotel beach area - it is a great stopover for a few days. Sabor restaurant at the hotel is gorgeous - boutique style eating outdoors with fabulous food.

The pelican bay is classy and upscale. The rooms are nice. The ferry to raiding beach is a drawback because it only comes once an hour. Would be much better if it ran continuously. Be careful of the shower! The floor is very slippery and the hot water is SCALDING hot. Hotel breakfast buffet has excellent but expensive food.
