When I travel to a new place I want to get as much of a view and taste of local life, culture, and food. Before traveling to Freeport on a cruise with my best friends I did a lot of research reading reviews on TripAdvisor trying to find the best place for the best price. After wandering around the Freeport markets all morning my group and I were a little hungry. We were recommended a Greek place to eat for a sampling of local cuisine but we were a little confused the first time we walked by and thought it was a generic greek place. Another local recommended a New Orleans themed restaurant as their favorite place and after passing by Da Conch Man we went inside and realized that not only was the food overpriced it wasn't really what any of us were hoping for. I had read about Da Conch Man on TripAdvisor and recommended we go there instead and we were not disappointed.
One of the members of our group asked if the Conch was fresh and Da Conch Man told us to come closer and took a lime and squeezed it on a piece of conch laying on the counter. It started moving and we were all satisfied that this was going to be some of the freshest seafood we have ever tasted. Our group had a whole spectrum of adventurous eaters to picky eaters and we all enjoyed it. One of our group bought two orders of Conch Fritters and got about 6 each time she ordered. There wasn't a LOT of conch in the Fritters she shared with me but they were deliciously seasoned and served with a great sauce.
The conch salad was the star of the show. This was the freshest conch any of us had ever had (for those of us who had eaten it before) and the salad was full of conch. One of our group members asked for some hot sauce and Da Conch Man brought out some tasty and spicy habanero sauce that our friend who eats hot sauce like it's going out of style could barely handle. We sat on some tables near by and talked about the delicious conch the entire time we ate it.
The conch salad was $10 (I believe) and came in a to-go container and the fritters were $1 each for about 6 per order.
The only thing that would have made this better was being able to take some home.
