Beautiful white, powdery sand. Shallow, calm water, crystal clear.

Pigeon Cay Beach Club owners, Ned and Leslie were the perfect Host and Hostess. He is a true man for all seasons, repairing a rental Jeep with one hand while cleaning a lobster with the other. She juggles business and concierge duties while managing to give each guest top priority. Their level of caring is obvious, in the way they interact with their small staff and their love for their children. We enjoyed every moment sharing their pristine beach. Cat Island is a beautiful and innocent corner of the Caribbean. Each of the six cabins is beautiful and unique, wrought by the imagination and craftsmanship of the owners. We have travelled the world, and have never experienced cleaner sand or friendlier folks than Pigeon Cay. Crystal clear ocean and nearby snorkle reefs abound. The location offers sunrise and sunset views beyond compare. Food here is special, too. Fresh fish, conch, crays, fruits and veggies are prepared in many delicious ways. The seaside "Honor Bar" is a cozy thached cabana with ample Bahamian cold beverages, available 24 / 7. An inviting beach bonfire is a nightly attraction. Private and quiet, breezy and beautiful, Cat Island Pigeon Cay Beach Resort is not for everyone. Only those of us who prefer the ultimate luxury : simple perfection.

We have just returned from 12 days in the islands - 5 of which were spent at Pigeon Cay. It was fantastic, everything we hoped for, to be able to walk out of your cottage and straight onto the white sandy beach was wonderful. Leslie and Ned were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you, you only had to ask. Ned took a little getting used to at first, he is a little eccentric and once you get used to that he's great and a fantastic cook! The cottage was wonderful though a little rustic but we weren't expecting a 5 star hotel. It was clean (Flora and her niece did a great job every day), spacious and very private even though you were quite close to your neighbours you weren't overlooked. There was air conditioning but during our time there we had no need to use it as the sea breeze kept everything cool and I have never slept so well with the sound of the sea lapping the shore. We have some wonderful memories of Pigeon Cay and just lazing around on the beach. It was one of the best holidays we've had and we will definitely return.

My husband and I spent a quiet, fabulous, week at Pigeon Cay Beach Club. We were looking for something different from the all inclusive McVacations available out there, and this was exactly that.

We were there just before "high season" so we had the entire beach virtually to ourselves. However, even during high season, with only 7 cabins, and a few private rentals on the beach, I would guess it would still be private and quiet.
The owners Leslie and Ned are on the property and if you need anything, you can usually find Leslie in her office or in the house. She is very accommodating if you need anything (she provided us with bacon and bread from her pantry). Ned is a little gruff and we weren't sure how to take him at first. I can see how others would be put off by him, but he just has a different sense of humour and if you don't take him at face value, you'll find he's really a nice guy.

The restaurant is not run menu style. If you want to have a meal, you have to pre-arrange it with Leslie/Ned (usually the morning of, or day before) and they'll whip something up. Like their sign says "Menu Choices: Take it, or Leave it". We had two dinners and one breakfast there (all were wonderful!), and chose to take care of the rest of the meals ourselves in our kitchen. There are several little grocery stores on the island. Rent a car for a couple hours from Leslie to grab some groceries. Don't expect a big Walmart, they are little stores that carry food, hardware supplies, and other household goods. You'll get a little choice, but not much. We still managed to make ourselves some wonderful meals while there.

Staying at Pigeon Cay Beach Club is basically like renting your own little cabin on a beautiful beach on a remote island. You’ll be left alone to enjoy the beauty and the quiet. But if you need anything, you just need to ask. We would love to return.

After reading the posting about Ned, I felt I had to write...I have actually been meaning to put up a review for some time. We stayed at Pigeon Cay in June and again in November, 2010. I can't say enough about how gorgeous and private the beach is...that being said, I am glad that Ned guards the property to ensure that only guests have access. One of the things that makes Pigeon Cay special is going down to the beach and leaving your cottage open or being able to walk away and leave your stuff down on the beach, without worrying that it will disappear. Now I have to say, Ned is definately gruff, but it is part of his charm, once you realize that he is there to give exactly what is offered, which is a laid back, on your own vacation...if you need anything, both Ned and Leslie are accomodating, but generally leave you alone. Which is exactly why we love it...a great beach (really one of the best I have ever experienced), an adorable cottage and more importantly being left alone. If you are looking to be catered to, this is not the place. If you want to relax with your partner and just enjoy being alone in a gorgeous setting, this is the place to go. We plan on going back in November 2011..it is that special. You can bring or have Leslie stock up your cottage with everything you need...it's great.

If we all could could just be appreciative of people operating "A" business
in the Bahamas.

Ned and Leslie are those people.
Everyone that visits a Bahamian island should act and be what you only are:
"A VISITOR". You don't have the right to be on private property and certainly have no right to criticize someone when he says "you can't walk my private beach".

Privacy is what Pigeon Cay is all about. Had you showed up on my private stay at Pigeon Cay and wanted to walk those steps to get to the beach, as a paying customer, I would insist you leave.
People pay for the right to privacy.
Ned has his right to protect my privacy and his own.
