We visited Cat Island March 2013 for a week. Our first choice was Shannas Cove Resort but they were booked so we spent our nites at Tail Winds down the beach. We ate all of our meals at Shannas and we can only add that the service, the food and the friendship was top notch here. If you are one of the lucky ones that can stay at Shannas cheers to you, you will be treated like royalty :)

We were guests of Frank and Gabby from 11/1-11/11/13 for our Honeymoon. We traveled from Palm Desert, California. We definitely wanted seclusion and privacy for our honeymoon and that's exactly what we got. We've been to all inclusives and high end resorts, yet this was right up our alley for our honeymoon. It's exactly what we needed to relax from 9 months of planning a wedding. The weather was ideal, and the water is pristine picture perfect clear in all shades of blue and warm to my liking. I'm a very picky eater so I was scared of booking Shanna's at first, however the previous reviews don't lie, they are so accommodating and caring. The porterhouse steak and Parmesan crusted chicken with pasta were my favorites Frank and Gabby are truly one of a kind business owners. My favorite was the breakfast every morning, I have a terrible diet and they helped me eat healthier. The French press coffee is to die for!!! We enjoyed kayaking and having fun at Da Smoke Pot with the other resort guests. Man O War beach is AMAZING!!! The experience we had at this beach, about a 30 minute walk from our room, was beyond surreal!! We literally had miles of beach to ourselves! Low tide, pink sands, and blue warm water with no another soul but my new husband was Bucket list for sure!!! No Where else can you have a beach alone like that, that I've ever been too, truly remarkable. We loved hanging out and socializing at the restaurant with all the guests, had so much fun!! Beware of Frank's pours at the bar, he's dangerous!! For being so remote and off the beaten path, their prices were very reasonable. Mini bar items in our room were $2-$4 which included beer, sodas, bottled water, snickers, Ruffles, and granola bars. A 3 course dinner is $40 per person, everything prepared by their staff fresh daily and handpicked food by Gabby daily too, they really put alot of work into their resort. The beyond amazing breakfast is $17 per person and included fresh veggies, fruit, the best orange juice I've ever had, very very good French press coffee, breads, meats, cheeses, pancakes, and eggs any way you wanted them prepared. The beers were $4, and very strong long drinks at $8. Go to for lunch would be their pizza, prepared with all fresh ingredients, I noticed locals liked to pick up their pizza too. The spicy garlic shrimps were delicious! Gratuity is included on your bill at the end of the trip, so walking around with a wallet isn't needed, we kept that stuff in the in room safe the whole trip. Their staff is also super nice: Tara, Mally, and the younger gentleman (can't remember his name). Again it's very secluded here, not for everyone. Do not come here to catch up on your tv programs or get online, because most of the time those amenities are limited here, we did get Wifi spotty at the restaurant and texting and cell phone did work, no telephones in the rooms. Make sure you stock up on bug spray or just avoid the beach at sunset and sunrise. Usually while we had breakfast, a housekeeper would clean our room too. I cannot say enough good things about Shanna's Cove and the area surrounding the property. The only downside was not going diving because Frank's boat was getting repaired. Pretty amazing place!!!

Room Tip: We had the "Lizard" room, very private with a great view

Beautiful. Heavenly. Idyllic. Perfect. We ran out of words to describe Shanna's Cove somewhere between the crystal clear waters and the decadent and delicious meals. Frank and Gabbi and their staff made us feel welcome and at ease. The room was bright and clean and comfortable. The picturesque beach was almost exclusively ours. My only issue with Shanna's Cove is that it is simply too amazing for words to properly describe.

I went with my husband last year for our Honeymoon and it was just amazing!! The villas are really beautiful, the food is really really good and of course the white sand beach is amazing! We spent our days in the beach, swimming in the ocean's clear water, snorkeling, walking through the island or just doing nothing at all! We took the Man o war trail and walked into a beautiful beach just for ourselves! Frank and Gaby make you feel like family and Frank prepares some amazing Bahama mama drinks! We enjoyed every second of our stay in paradise!
We also stayed for a couple of nights in Nassau, the main island of The Bahamas but we didn't enjoyed it really much, maybe because we had our expectations really high from our stay at Shanna's cove.
Hopefully we will visit again really soon!!

So much has already been said by the other couples we had the good fortune to meet during our August 2013 visit.
All of it true. Gabi and Frank were the perfect hosts. Gabi took great care in making sure we were well fed and the food was amazing (Thanks Andrea too). Nothing was too much trouble for Frank either (watch out for the extra large drink measures)!
Molly and Tara were the happiest waitresses we have ever met - great girls.

We were the last couple of the season and just caught the beginning of the staff BBQ and closing up party. It was like leaving a big happy family. If we lived closer this resort would be on a yearly booking for us. Here's to saving up for next time.
