“A fun walk”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

One of my husband's main reason to visit was to visit the high point in the Bahamas. It was an easy uphill climb. the top had amazing views and the chance to see Father Jerrome's church.

“A Very Spiritual Place”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

Father Jerome's hermitage, at the top of Mount Alvernia was a wonderful morning hike up through the stations of the cross. The view from the highest point in the Bahamas was beautiful and the construction was impressive. Take a backpack full of lunch--and lots of photos. This is a required pilgrimage for Cat Island visitors.

“Beautiful view, short hike”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

We rode our bikes to the foot of the trail. The hike up was steep, but short. The hermitage itself was a slice of history...amazing that someone spent their life in this spot!

“soul searching”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

Very spiritual place.loved the solitude on the hill , all you hear is the wind.it's amazing how the hermitage was built, it must have taken a very determined and devoted man to put so much effort in it's construction...a must see.
