To give you an idea, I've been around the Caribbean and Hawai'i, so I have a good grasp on what a good beach is, or what I like in a beach. This place is definitely one of the top 2 beaches I've ever been, maybe even THE BEST. The water is the clearest I've ever seen, it's fairly shallow (you could walk hundreds of yards out and only be up to your stomach/chest), the water is calm, beach is clean, it's easy to get to, and there's hardly anyone else there. We went there 4 different times for at least 4 hours each time, maybe saw 8 people there the entire time. Even if those 8 showed up at the same time, there was plenty of room for a few hundred, so we never felt cramped or bothered. Do yourself a favor and go here.

We went to Gaulding's Cay one day and the water was too rough for snorkeling. The wind does what it wants...what are you gonna do? Luckily we went back a few days later and had a great time. It's easy to get to: beach access is across from Daddy Joe's (sp?) restaurant. The water was calm and we snorkeled around the rocky island offshore. Not fantastic snorkeling, but pretty good for Eleuthera. We saw lots of fish and more than a few starfish. And that little island makes for good Kodak moments.

This secluded beach is perfect for a day of snorkeling and sun bathing. We biked to this beach (on more than 1 day) from the Cove. It was about a 2 mile bike ride or about a 15 minute ride. The beach access is located across the street from Daddy Joe's. You need to look out for the public beach access sign and then follow the sandy road. Once on it, you will come to a fork. We found that the left fork was better for biking and driving. It is nice and firm and you can drive/bike right up to the beach.

The beach is BEAUTIFUL and really secluded. On our first day, we only encountered 1 woman and on the other days we visited we had it pretty much to ourselves. Being on the Caribbean side, the water was really calm and crystal clear. I encourage you to go during low tide, especially if you can't swim. During that time, you can walk out to the island without any problems. If you like to snorkel, the island is great as are the rocks along either side of the beach. You will find lots of stuff to see. During high tide, the water is still pretty shallow. You can walk out far without the water getting too high.

We found sand dollars and beautiful conch shells. One tip, if you snorkel, you will find larger shells that are intact if you snorkel along the shore line. The shells at the edge of the water were broken, but we found some beautiful ones a few feet in while snorkeling.

We even had our own tour guide who led us to the beach. We stopped off at Daddy Joe's to buy some water before going to the Cay. And the owner's dog, Spot, actually led us to the beach and played with us in the water before going back home. Definitely make this beach one of your stops. You won't be disappointed.

Gaulding's Cay is a short drive from The Cove Eleuthera. You drive down a narrow sandy road. You can easily drive there in a normal car and don't need a SUV or anything like that.

We went in late May, and it was drizzling, so we didn't stay long. However, on a nice day, you could stay the full day and swim out to the small island. There are one or two houses close by, but we saw no one else around.

The view was beautiful and I would definitely recommend checking this beach out!

My favourite beach, soft sand under foot, warm turquoise calm water, crystal clear, shade readily available under the pine trees, easy access, NO PEOPLE, amazing.
