We headed out to Rock Sound to visit Ocean Hole which wa really neat with huge fish then headed off to see if Rose was in and cooking at Northside Inn & Restaurant. We were so happy to find her outback tenderizing some conch! She happily greeted us and told us that yes the restaurant was open and what would we like to eat! She showed us the conch she just tenderized and we decided on one plate of fried conch and one of cracked conch. Both were outstanding!!! BEST food we had on the island. She made everything fresh for us. Peas and Rice and cole slaw that was to die for accompanied our meal along with fried plantains. Add in a nice ice cold Kalik and a view of the beach and everything was perfect. We were totally stuffed when we were done and our whole meal with gratuity was $39! We just loved Rose, her cat Joey and dogs Teddy and Pagie. Rose told us that she doesn't cook to make money, she cooks to make friends! Well she found a friend in us for sure! This place is truly worth a visit. You'll find it at the end of Fish Road (the road you turn on to get to Ocean Hole). There is a small sign pointing left for the resort and then she is up a head on the right. Make sure to add this to your list of places to visit. We didn't check out the villas but they looked very nice.

The Northside inn is a hidden gem is south Eleuthera. I spent 3 glorious days here with Rose. The hospitality shown to me by Rose was unsurpassed and made the stay really special. She is one of the most kind and generous people i have met. a very special person indeed.

The rooms are homely, comfortable and clean, with satelite TV, microwave, sink and fridge. The views of the altantic ocean from the balcony are out of this world and the stroll along the peaceful, long beach was just divine. A definite relaxing break. Roses' coking was brilliant. Many locals clearly thought the same as the outside terrace was often busy. Good value for money, peaceful location and lots of friendly local crabs that do a daily patrol across the sandy road to the beach. a brilliany sight. I hired a car during my stay. very informal- no paperwork to sign, no proof of driving license needed and just leave the keys under the car mat when you leave. One of the many, many wonderful quirks of this fabulous island.

Following The northside, i drove up to South Palmetto point and stayed at the unique hotel. It wasn't a patch on the northside and i really missed my time there. I would highly recommend anyone to make the journey to the island of Eleuthera but to also visit the less populated south of the island and pay Rose a visit. I know i will be back.

Room Tip: all of the rooms are amazing. I stayed in one of the one on the top row. Great balcony and views.

The Northside Inn is an amazing place to stay. The cottages are very charming, clean, and have double door walk out decks that overlook the ocean. There is only one other building (a private residency) in the vicinity, so you have miles of beach to yourself. There is a really beautiful lagoon about a miles north of the beach that makes for a nice walking destination.

Rose is a really caring person with good values. She took very great care of us, and helped us with planning our daily trips, renting a car, and other advice. She is an amazing cook! I think I actually miss Rose's fish more than the beaches in Eleuthera.

This is by far the best place I've ever stayed at. I've been to 17 countries and have been living in the Bahamas for 7 months now and I was still in awe of this place. We got excited just driving up to the place realizing how secluded it really was. When we walked into the room we both said 'oh wow'. We left our doors and windows open both day and night and enjoyed the ocean breeze and enjoyed the ocean view from the bed. Rose made us our lunch and it was great. She gave us tips for touring the island as well. Each day that I walked the beach for hours and didn't see any other people.

We spent four weeks on the south of Eleuthera this winter, and although we rented a house and did not stay with Rose, we ate several times in her Northside Restaurant. She is a fantastic cook, and you will not find better local Bahamian food than hers. If you want to come for dinner or want something special, be sure to call ahead, and she will have your food ready whenever you wish. The beach out in front is beautiful, so you can also always stop by, order your food, take a hike or a swim and then return to eat. Rose makes you feel like family.

My boyfriend and I just returned from staying 5 days here at Northside Inn. Honestly, it was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation we've ever had. We stayed in the cabin with the queen bed, which is the first cottage you come to on the property...the views were spectacular! Water pressure is decent, and there is hot and cold water. Rose picked us up at the airport and we rented a car on one of the days to drive south to the Lighthouse Beach (a MUST while here). We had the entire mile(s) long beach to ourselves. We only saw one other couple walking the beach...the water is crystal clear, there aren't many shells, but further north on the beach we found tons of seaglass :) Rose made us dinner every night, true Bahamian food - and I'm a vegetarian, and she was able to accomodate me...her homemade macaroni & cheese rocked! Teddy, Paige and Joey were her friendly four-legged animals...just sweet and not a pest at all (if you aren't animal fans). Rose was able to coordinate our car rental through Friendly Bob, a man she's known over 40 years. I would suggest bringing a few things from home, like coffee and sugar packs, the rest you can buy at the local grocery store, but keep in mind things are rather expensive here...Water, PB & J sandwiches, chips, fruit and a few other snacks kept us full during the day and Rose made every one of our dinners. Bring a few books, beach towel, music and sunscreen and honestly, you're good to go. If you're looking for a wild, jam-packing vacation spot, this is not it. This is a vacation, in the truest form...simple and relaxing, peaceful and serene. Even if you want to get away for a day, it's totally worth it, if only to meet Rose and enjoy her miles of beautiful beach and excellent food. We'll definitely be back!
