“Amazing place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2013

We have now just completed our 5th stay at Club Peace & Plenty in Georgetown, Exuma in the past year. The accommodation, the service and the overall locale is absolutely amazing. Every single member of the Peace & Plenty team is absolutely amazing - they attend to each and every need of their customers, and they truly care about their guests - ensuring that each have an amazing experience. Being in the town of Georgetown is also very beneficial as guests can walk around town and all of the local amenities - Straw market, Grocery store, gift shops, hair dresser, even a place to get your nails done - are all there -as well as the government dock where you can catch a water taxi to whatever local destination around Elizabeth harbor that you would like to visit. Cindy, Magnolia, both Annette's (one at the front counter and one in the bar), Monique, Patricia, Zoe, Virginia, Doc and Glen - are all amazing team members who know you by first name and do everything that they can to support you. We will definitely be visiting again. I cannot say enough positive things about our time at this wonderful place.

Room Tip: we choose the rooms that face the water for the view and have had rooms both on the 1st and 2nd floo...

I went on a fishing trip to Exuma Island in the Bahamas and stayed at the Club Peace and Plenty boutique Hotel
It was amazing and I going back.

The location, the people, the food and the bar where all amazing.

Loved every minute and the fishing was amazing and the fishing guide JJ Dames has become a friend.

If you are interested in being pampered- on Exuma; stay at Sandals, Grand Isle Resort, or rent a villa/home on February Point. All very nice
But if you'd rather a flavor of relaxed island time, very helpful and pleasant staff and folks- stay in George Town at Club Peace & Plenty. Cindy, Annette and all staff are very receptive. George Town is small. It's the island center, and transportation is easily obtained to any point on the Island. There are remarkable locations to see. Peace & Plenty has access to a beach across Elizabeth Harbor, (free water Taxi), called Hamburger Beach on Stocking Island. Nice hike on Stocking up the dunes to the salt monument, (sailing vesels looked for salt sources, monuments assisted). The views and sandy trails are terrific. Taxis on Exuma are relatively expensive. Airport to Club P&P is $30, to Sandals, (golf) is $50. Bahamian dollar is equivalent to US$.
Restaurants are available to walk to, We had a positive experience at Augusta Bay Hotel, George Town Marina, Santana's (34 miles SW on Little Exuma), and the Driftwood cafe across from the Club P&P. Rates/prices are as you might expect, $30-40 pp for evening meals, Breakfast/lunch $18-25 pp. WiFi works only in the lobby and restaurant at Club P&P. Rooms are clean, not terribly modern, but waterfront rooms are gorgeous views. A great, relaxing time. Review of Greg Norman Emerald Bay Golf is separate, but a nice hospitable course.

We only had the pleasure of one night here, but the Peace and Plenty is on our list for our next visit to Georgetown. Our second floor room was modest and comfortable with a delightful breeze from the Harbor blowing through from our private balcony. The view of Stocking Island was lovely, even in the afternoon rain when we watched a rainbow drift across the harbor. You'd be hard pressed to find a better location for enjoying Georgetown or as your home base while you explore Greater Exuma, Stocking Island or any of the nearby cays. The Peace and Plenty exudes history; you can see the march of time from the resorts early building to its newer wings. The bar, where Lermon makes a fine Bloody Mary, as its low ceilings and old wooden beams suggest, is part of the original structure. Breakfast was very nice here. And the pool and patio are perfect for relaxation.

If you are looking to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the world at a reasonable price, this hotel can help your dream come true. This past August, my girlfriend and I stayed in the African Suite at Club Peace and Plenty which was spacey, well-designed and comfortable. It included a separate living room and two separate balconies, both overlooking Elizabeth Harbour and the lovely Stocking Island. The bathroom was very nice, had views of the harbor, and included a nice large bath tub which we took full advantage of. The living room had a refrigerator, dining table, and wet bar which allowed us to snack in the room at our leisure.

When we arrived, we realized there was a misunderstanding related to price of the room. The hotel claims to award a free night to couples celebrating an anniversary, but they fail to mention what kind of anniversary. According to Miriam Webster's dictionary, an anniversary is defined as "the annual recurrence of a date marking a notable event," but we assumed that the hotel intended to mean the romantic type. Luckily, the 3rd anniversary of the day I met my girlfriend happened to be during our trip, so I mentioned it when i booked and was told I'd get the free night. To make a long story short, the Front Desk insisted upon my arrival that this deal is only for married couples and that I must pay for the extra night unless I can provide documentation. I argued that the website never specified this and when I booked the reservation over the phone, the agent never told me that i needed to bring wedding documents. Even if we were hypothetically married, we would not have brought documentation unless we were specifically instructed to do so, and would've ended up in the same position. My girlfriend and I are both price-sensitive students and if we had to pay for that additional night, it would have greatly limited our possibilities for the trip. After a thorough argument with the Front Desk Manager, she left her decision up in the air for the entirety of the trip, which caused some discomfort while passing by the front desk that week. Luckily they made the (correct) decision to give us a break, and when I signed the bill upon checkout, I realized that they did not end up charging me for the additional night.

Despite this week-long dispute with the front desk, I am rating this hotel as excellent for a reason. The room, as described above, was perfect for our needs and we were thrilled with the beautiful view from the balconies (arguably one of the best views ever!). There was a similar view from the Hotel's outdoor pool bar, which I believe is the best on Great Exuma. One of the bartenders there, Annette Cooper, is an outstanding individual. We had her shifts memorized and routinely went to visit her for her advice, referrals, and of course her generously portioned Gumbay Smash.

The hotel rate included a daily ferry service straight from the bar/pool area of the hotel to the island across the harbor, Stocking Island. When I say ferry, I mean a small glass bottom boat half full with locals. I would like to applaud the hotel not only for offering this service but also for being in an ideal location that allows for this service. Unfortunately the ferry driver was only permitted to take us to hamburger beach because it contains a restaurant with the same ownership as the hotel. It would have been nice if he could have taken us to Chat 'N' Chill, our preferred Stocking Island location, as well.

I cannot be too upset about the front desk conflict as I believe that they thought they were doing the right thing until their eventual consultation with the owner. Sadly the retro waterfront property was mostly empty during our visit, and sometimes this harsh reality can compel more aggressive revenue collecting. Because the situation was corrected, and because the hotel allowed us a beautiful island experience at a reasonable price, I would recommend Club Peace and Plenty to anyone interested in staying in Georgetown, Great Exuma.

Room Tip: If you plan on spending some time in the room, it is worth splurging for an oceanview room

Peace & Plenty George Town Grate Exuma is a must stop. Great setting in the heart of George Town. This is a small inn with the oldest bar in the Bahamas. We stay with friends while in Exuma
but always visit Doc for a game of ring toss and a lost of cold beer.
The restaurant serves fresh fish and has a very good breakfast (closed on Tuesdays).
There is a dock if you come via boat. Staff is very friendly and will help in any way. Have fun
another must while in Exuma.

My husband and I and another couple were there Nov. 14 thru the 18th and it was awesome! The hotel is right in the middle of town, across the street from where we rented our boat for the week, and I could throw a rock and hit the grocery store and liquor store if I wanted to. The people were so nice and love to socialize. The hotel is older but very clean and the view is just amazing! We would explore Elizabeth Harbour and Stocking Island and snorkel different reefs all day. We stopped at Chat n Chill in the late afternoon and then would go back to the hotel to drink with Doc the bartender and whoever else was there that night. It seems to be a hub for the locals. Would highly recommend staying here for a laid back and not too fancy trip.
