“Christmas break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2013

This was our 2nd stay at the cottages. We stayed in a studio before, but as we took our dogs we went for Arian this time. It was ideal, warm and cosy and when we arrived found a christmas tree waiting for us, what a lovely touch.
Our dogs loved being able to run around with the restrictions of a lead, and we all enjoyed the walks even though the weather wasn't the best. We were made to feel very welcome by Richard and Sheila.
We hope to return very soon.

This was our second visit to the cottages and again chose to stay in the Gwyn studio which is perfect for couples both in size and in price. After our first visit in June we thought it would be nice to come back in autumn to enjoy the views and walks in a different season and weren’t disappointed. The studio itself has everything you need for a short break and we did worry a little that it would be cold in November. Not so! The underfloor heating is delightful and we even had to open the window for a short time to cool it down! The cottages are ideally set for quick access to the Brecon Beacons and only a 30 minute drive from Cardiff. The only complaint would be that that we could hear pretty much everything going on in the cottage above us. We didn’t experience this last time we stayed so it may just be that the couple overhead were particularly noisy and not aware of just how much sound carries downwards! There was lots of banging about and raised voices until quite late which then started again at 7am! May be worth putting a note up to let people know? Certainly hasn’t put us off though and we will be back in the spring next year.

My wife and I are just back from a three night break here. A series of hillside cottages in a very picturesque part of South Wales. We stayed in the Arian cottage which was very comfortable, peaceful and met all our needs. The scenery of the local area is magnificent, and every single local person we met extremely friendly and unassuming; in particular Lesley, the lovely lady that works on Blaen-nant-y-groes. Always cheery and happy to help. The cottage sleeps two, has underfloor heating, satellite television, and both wired and wifi internet access. We highly recommend this accommodation and we'd definitely stay here again.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

We got home yesterday after a 4 night mid-week stay in the top floor studio 'Glas'

The cottage apartment itself was excellent, fab little kitchen, woodburner, TV with all the movie channels, comfy bed, underfloor heating and nice powerful shower. The owner was lovely he came to introduce himself and had a chat. Very comfy, all we wanted from our holiday was lots of rest and sleeping, eating and looking at a few local attractions, and this was perfect, and a bargain price! There are a couple of dogs running around and some horses and sheep in the field which was lovely.

Its in a good location too, we were up and down the 'heads of the valleys road' visiting castles, steam railways and the Big Pit. Also close to Tesco and Asda, I never usually cook so it was a novelty being self catering and preparing meals in the microwave and on the hob, apparently I did a good job :-)

The only 'negatives' would be that it is possible to hear talking and SNORING! from the room below :-( but this was only on a couple of occasions and didn't ruin my sleep (just annoying), and there was some kind of work being done behind the cottages which meant noise from big vehicles and diggers etc in the morning, this wasn't great to wake up to, but we still slept in between 8 and 10 each day. These are only tiny issues but I must rate as very good rather than excellent, which is a shame, but it would not put me off staying again.

I have recommended this place to a few friends and hope that we will be back too :-)

We stayed in the Glas studio which is on the first floor reached by a set of wooden stairs. The studio is comfortable with everything you could need the tiny kitchenette is more than adequate for two people and the other extras such as free Wi-Fi and Sky were a definite bonus. On arrival the studio was very clean and cosy. The bathroom was spacious with a nice shower never a problem with hot water and under floor heating if required. A log burner was laid and only
needed a match so everything had been thought of.The views are amazing and with a Tesco just minutes away even groceries weren't a problem. The owners were very welcoming etc will be returning as it is a lovely place to stay and good value for money.Found lots of interesting things to do nearby including Big Pit which is a good day out and no cost and takes you underground into the mine itself great stuff.

This is our second year staying at Blaen-nant-y-Groes Farm Cottage. A great stopping off point for the Brecon Beacons and the Gower. Affordable and perfect for our dog. The first place we have ever stayed with an enclosed garden which is really enclosed and dog proof. Lovely owners. Sparkling bright, clean kitchen and bathroom. Comfy beds.

Fab! Great location and views. We stayed in Gwyn cottage, the ground floor studio cottage, alittle smaller than we thought but this wasnt a negative, just added to the whole experience. Well equipped kitchenette if on a budget. We loved that we could hide away and spend some quality romantic hours together. We will be back, for a longer visit next time.
