My wife and I were visitng the area and wanted a good old fashioned cooked dinner. Looked at the reviews and booked a table. Very friendly Landlord from up North (Geordie?) with good banter. Food was plentiful, lovely roast beef (my wife had chicken) but didn't have room for dessert as the portions were quite large (although they do offer a smaller portion as well). Overall a good experience and would reccomend for a great Sunday roast.

On the recommendation of a friend, we visited the Farmers Arms for lunch today. The pub itself is a quirky, old fashioned country pub, with parking facilities for about six cars. The landlord is friendly and knowledgeable on the range of real ales available and the atmosphere in the pub is that of friendly regulars. The menu is not large, but there is something to suit everyone, and most of it is home made. The food.......absolutely delicious, there was nothing that I could fault. My fish was cooked to perfection, the beer batter was light and crispy and the chips were proper homemade chips - scrumptious. The cottage pie with cheesy mash was luscious, served with peas and gravy. The only downside was that we had no room for dessert as the portions are plenty big enough. I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue, and we will definitely be returning there soon.
