“Lydstep beach”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

First time at Lydstep Beach Caravan Park, and we booked through Haven. Our first impression of the park and the caravan was very good. Great views over Caldey Island. Our van was clean and well appointed and was not too overlooked with close proximity to the beach. The facilities on the park were good for our needs. Two playgrounds, indoor pool, club with entertainment and Ranger activities and woodland walks. The club had a bar and served meals which were good and not ludicrously expensive. Steve worked hard providing quality family entertainment. Kids first, followed by quiz/bingo and two nights of the week a guest singer, both of which were good. Di the Ranger was particularly enthusiastic leading the activities which our 7 year old enjoyed. We visited: Folly Farm, Dinosaur Experience, Heatherton, all of which were good family days out. Tenby was nice but we were bitten by swarms of flies on Caldey Island which left very itchy scabs! Of course excellent weather helped to create a very positive impression of the area.

I booked a caravan privately and the owner advised me to ring in advance to book entertainment passes as they were cheaper than purchasing on arrival. Rang every day often two or three times a day a week before due to arrive and every time told no one available to help and could I call back later. Eventually spoke to Chris who whilst he couldn't help, promised that upon arrival if I said I had spoken to him, they would honour pre arrival purchase price for entertainment passes.

Upon arrival stated the above and made to feel like a liar and told that wouldn't happen. They couldn't explain why no one was ever available to take payment in advance. Saving would only have been £15 or so, but it was the principal. The office staff were worse than useless and a wouldn't know the meaning of good customer service if they tried.

Apart from that, site was good, facilities good and staff at clubhouse fantastic (unlike office staff)

Booked this van through Kylie, very straight forward, thank you Kylie. Arrived a bit early but van ready so got our key and passes. Stayed for two weeks and I have to say we had a fantastic holiday. The location of Lydstep is lovely, by the beach and we were so lucky with the weather aswell which was a huge bonus. The facilitates at the site were excellent. The Manor House food was lovely and not overpriced. The kids (5 and 8) loved the entertainment and games with Steve and the kids Bingo. The Ranger activities were great and Di and Richard did a great job, Di is so enthusiastic you can tell he really loves his job. Overall I would recommend Lydstep as a holiday destination and a great place for families. Being so near to Tenby with all the beautiful beaches and near such places as Folly Farm, Dinasour Park and Heatherton Park is an added bonus, would definitely return.

Me and my whole family have been going down to Lydstep since I was born, and every year we have had a lovely experience. The caravans we have stayed in, the club and everything about the site is beautiful and very well maintained. It's successful in providing a wide range of services for the public, however there is a lack of entertainment in recent years making it unsuitable for young children and even adults who look forward to night time entertainment. The club has vastly improved, but it seems to have changed to where it's more suitable for owners rather than holiday makers. Overall Lydstep beach is the perfect holiday destination, apart from the fact that a lack of entertainment lets it down!

Over the years me and my husband have visited lydstep beach and we have stayed at many different parts of the site. The last time we went was July 2012 and the club had been totally changed, although it is now more like a place to eat rather than an entertainment place . The kids didn't seem to enjoy this as much and I do believe it is now more catered for adults and holiday owners . The staff were very nice and the whole place was very clean at all times..
Despite the club not hitting a 5 star mark from me the place it's self does and we are still returning in August this year. We love lydstep so much that it takes us a very long 7 hours in the car to get there , and although the journey is hard work with 4 children driving us mad for 7 hours its worth every second. The food at the club is beautiful and is reasonable priced , but the alcohol prices makes up for this unfortunately but doesn't spoil the holiday,
And a visit to Mykonos Greek restaurant is a must for any one visiting tenby . It was amazing food x looking ink forward to our next visit. :)

Room Tip: Haven crest is fab , as is ocean view

The last time I was at Lydstep was 1962 with my parents - and the caravans have come a long way since then! My husband was dubious about staying in a caravan but he was pleasantly surprised with our 6 berth - very spacious and clean and with very adequate shower and central heating. Haven Holidays were very efficient both with the booking and on reception. We were there for only 4 days so we didn't bother trying to cook, but I guess with a family it should be fairly easy to do with the facilities provided. The site is still as pretty as I remembered from my childhood though more caravans on site and the sand dunes gone. I just hope its not going to be spoiled by trying to cram too many caravans on what is a beautiful bay!!

I booked this via Hoseasons for the early may bank hol week, and got a really cheap deal.
We found it to be really quiet that week, but it didn't make any difference to us. We arrived early but the caravan was ready, so check in was smooth. We were really happy with the caravan in terms of cleanliness and size. We were just a few steps away from the beach which was lovely, it was very quiet and relaxing.
We walked down to the bar / restaurant area one afternoon expecting it to be tacky only to be pleasantly surprised, the outdoor seating area is lovely with a sea view and the drinks weren't too pricey. The on site shop was also really useful.
We drove into Tenby most nights as there aren't any restaurants nearby, but this was only a ten min drive so not really an issue. Tenby has a lot of lovely pubs and restaurants and the beach is great.
Overall I would recommend this caravan park and would stay there again.
