Excellent value

Just spent a week here. Lovely clean site, nice large pitches, lovely views. Will definitely be going back. Excellent value for money and nothing is too much trouble. The lovely coastal path is close by as is a disused airfield which my dogs enjoyed running free.

My partner and I had our first stay here with our two dogs at the end of half term. The site is easy to find, and has twenty pitches in a lovely quiet situation. Very cleanly kept with excellent washroom / laundry / freezer facilities. We aren't electric hookup people but this is available. Unintrusively helpful site management was great - helping us to find the idyllic route past ponds and flag Iris to the coast path, which offers a short loop to Solva- and a glorious walk up to St Davids, mostly headlands with only a couple of climbs. There is also a lovely food outlet, Pan Aroma which cooks to order from trailer - very good burgers and Pan Asian menu which we were glad to rely on after a late walk on Sunday evening! We will certainly go back and will enjoy taking the kids too. Thanks to Dan, Rachel and Adam at Llanungar and Jamie at Pan Aroma and see you soon!

Beautiful caravan and camping site. No fuss. No frills. Quiet with lovely views and amazing dog walks direct from the site. The coastal path within 5 minute stroll and an amazing area at the old air field. Close to Solva and we walked all the way to St David's and back. Delighted to have found this special place. We will be back!

We stopped here for four nights on a tour of Wales in our caravan. This was the lowest price by far of the five sites we used, but there is nothing lacking here and it is fantastic value for money. As stated in another review, the owners are very laid back and we didn't catch up with Rachel to pay the fees until the morning we were packing up to leave! Despite the low fees, they are clearly investing in improvements and a brand new wooden building has sprouted next to the facilities block which will house a new reception area.

Grass fields, plenty of space, cheap, Rachel couldn't have been more helpful. They are very laid back, didn't ask for a deposit and even let us arrive early so we had the full day. There is a short cut into Solva on foot: out next to plot one, through farm, turn right at the school down the passage next to house and you are there. Ten minutes. There is a great little shop there. You must buy the lobster from the house next to the shop. I only cost us £14 for a massive one, perfectly dressed and delicious. You can get the 400 bus to St David's in one direction and Little Haven in the other. Buses are brilliant. Washing machine only took old pound coins so check that out.

Room tip: Every pitch is spacious

Thank you for posting such a detailed and positive review.

Our intention is to run a relaxed campsite where everyone can drop easily into 'holiday mode' - chill out, enjoy the surroundings and be as active as they wish to be! To this end we try and adopt a similar relaxed approach to managing the business. It doesn't always work but we don't want signs and rules posted everywhere - a little respect and common sense appears to be suffice.

Very pleased to hear you enjoyed Solvas one stop shop for everything - it is a village provision that is second to non. Lovely to hear you dined courtesy of Mikey - fresh lobster cannot be beaten. We have an excellent bus service supporting both town excursions and coastal path wanders (and a boat pick up and drop off service in Solva if you're looking for something more adventurous).

A new part has been fitted to both washing machines so they now take both old and new pound coins.

Hope to see you return one day.

I'm usually a bit put-off by mixed campsites. Cramped, busy and run like second-rate holiday camps, I've usually avoided them and headed for wild camping locations.

But Llanungar has changed my expectations. Keeping the site to a limited number of sizeable pitches and separated from the caravan park, you don't feel too cramped or encroached on by neighbours. The toilets and showers are clean, well-lit and perfectly fit-for-purpose, even if the staff have an honest apology pinned-up for their use of non-slip flooring, which they are due to change shortly, due to how much of a pain it is to clean. But clean it they do!

The pitch was large enough to take our 10 man house tent, extension and two cars, as well as leaving us enough room for a table, six seats and a fantastic little fire-pit which can be hired for a few quid. A note on the fire-pit: Buy your wood from the local Solva Post Office rather than CK's in St David's... The wood from the Post Office was seasoned and long burning. CK's wood is surprisingly damp and won't do much else for the first few hours other than spit and create enough smoke to suffocate local wildlife.

The football posts in the middle of the field were a nice touch, and there are plenty of places for kids to explore safely whilst making friends with other camper's offspring, or regulars from the Caravan site. Our visit in late August also allowed for blackberry and nettle foraging along the hedgerows, which are lovely and wild - as they should be! Access to the coastal path is directly opposite the site entrance, taking you down lanes that pass some exceptional areas for wildlife; not 200 yds from the site we managed to watch a sparrow-hawk feed it's young chicks and had one of the most successful bug-hunts ever!

Our visit also coincided with the site's annual 'fun day' for charity, which the kids absolutely loved. Staff warned us of the event on booking due to it's late finish, but all was quiet by 11:30pm and the whole family had a great time!

A personal thank-you to the staff who kept emergency insulin refrigerated for us during our week's stay for our diabetic youngster. Great peace-of-mind.

Thank you Llanungar. Awesome value. Fantastic location. Brilliant staff. We'll see you again soon!

Thanks for taking the time to post such an informative, positive and helpful review. Your comments are valued and gratefully received.

We are very pleased to hear that your stay at Llanungar went someway into changing your opinion on mixed campsites. We have worked hard to make both activities co-exist, providing campers, tourers and motorhomes with pitches that have ample space from which to enjoy the stunning location. Last season we planted 800 trees along the boundary between the caravan park and camping field, we have also added a new road so campers don't need to travel through the caravan park.

The toilet block floor as you have pointed out didn't work. After much research we added a textured nonslip painted surface but it quickly became impossible to keep as clean as we wished. We have since removed the painted surface and returned the floor to its original tiled surface - and it looks fab!

Thrilled you got out and about foraging, bug hunting and bird watching. We are very lucky to occupy such a stunning park of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, within such easy walking distance of Solva and the sea. For something very different Dr Beynons Bug Farm is a very enjoyable quiet wander along back lanes and footpaths.

Your comments about fire wood are very useful and we are pleased to hear our local shop delivered. We always encourage all our visitors to shop locally whenever possible. We have local fishermen who will sell you their catch of fish, crab and lobster or if you get very brave deliver to your pitch for you to prepare.

Thanks too for supporting our annual fun day. We are doing the final totals at present but it looks like we have raised £5,000 for two very local and very worthwhile charities. Your contribution to this sum is very appreciated.

Look forward to seeing you again one day.
